GroundsHave a case of cabin castle fever? Best to take a break from all the stone corridors and go hang out by the lake, or explore the expansive school grounds. Don't forgive to send your regards to Bartholomew Henry!
A set of paths, some stone, most dirt, link the wooden bridge to almost every other area of the Hogwarts grounds. You will more than likely use these pathways at some point to reach your grounds-based classes, to visit other outdoor locations, or simply to take a walk and clear your head. This is a quiet area of the grounds with the soft sound of leaves rustling in the wind or lightly crunching below your feet. Doesn't the air just seem fresher around here somehow?
Walk with a friend, sit and relax on one of the many benches placed in intervals along the numerous pathway routes, climb a nearby tree, take a moment to appreciate the great outdoors in this breathtaking part of the country. Just be careful not to trip on loose stones or roots as you go. The groundskeeper does what he can to keep the pathways maintained, but he can only do so much.

The entire reasoning behind Feliks being out and about on the grounds this weekend afternoon was simple. Find and speak with Professor Khanna. Easy right? Probably. And yet, the shaggy haired sixth year was completely procrastinating the entire idea of it all. As much as he wanted to have this chat with Khanna, to learn all that he could about whether or not he truly stood a chance in any sort of career in DADA... He was panicking. Not just his usual shy panic, the all consuming panic he had when the Boggart came after him. Darn birds. How was his future comparing to a large angry bird that wanted to harm him?
Aimless wandering up and down pathways had only led Fel in circles. Silent hopes that maybe he would run into one of his friends and that could keep him from his own thoughts and fears. What if he wasn't good enough? Everyone else knew what they wanted to do when they graduated but him. The terrible thoughts of being a failure ran deep... How he was a Slytherin he did not know. All he wanted was some clarity. Someone to come and tell him what to do would be wonderful. Maybe Viano could steer him in the right direction. His buddy was super smart and always seemed to be able to read him better than most. Maybe he should look for him first and get an opinion?

There was always much to do as Groundskeeper of Hogwarts. And Dhruv loved every single moment of it! For the most part, they were always pleased to see that the students were good at assisting in the Pathways’ maintenance by refraining from throwing garbage. Still, there were a few tissues, pieces of parchment, scraps from torn robes to name a few they encountered today. Dhruv was taking great care to ensure that he forage for all the debris. And while they were at it, they used magic to take care of the trees and grass. Everything must remain in tip-top shape!
Unbeknownst to them, one of their students was on the prowl for them; the said student being boggled down with a lot on his mind. The Slytherin Head of House spotted him in the distance, and immediately recognised the look of worry. Aside from being familiar with Feliks’ demeanour, they had been a professor long enough to know when students looked a little lost.
“Here to help me, Mr. Rustokov?” Dhruv asked cheerfully as they vanished a particularly large dead branch from a tree. There was no pressure in their words to force Feliks to open up; he could do so at his own pace. “Or are you looking for Mr. Thanatos-Misra?”

Personally, Feliks didn't have a clue how Professor Khanna did everything so well. From being the DADA professor, to the Head of House as well as the Groundskeeper. It had to be a lot. Coming up with and teaching lessons, tending to an entire house worth of students troubles AND keeping all the grounds gorgeous. All he had to do was keep up with lessons... And if it weren't for his buddies he'd fail even harder than he already was.
Thank the Heavens that Khanna knew what was happening without him needing to speak up. World's tended not to be his thing. Even when he ran over what to say a million times in his head, random words always seemed to tumble from his lips and fall all over themselves without any sense of clarity. As for looking a 'little' lost, that was better than how he felt. Completely lost in every sense of the word.
Huh? Like a deer in headlights, Fel come to a stop misstep. Dark eyes settled much faster than normal on the older man standing before him. "I umm... Well uhhh..." A pause was taken briefly as he bit his bottom lip in a quick attempt to clear his ear and find words that made sense. "Sorta all of that I suppose?... What can I help with, Sir?" Maybe keeping busy cleaning the grounds would be what he needed to ease into talking about what he may want to do after graduation.

Truthfully, Dhruv had had their moments of doubt when they first took over their latest position - Head of House - but they managed quite well. They attributed this wish to time management and years of experience in the teaching department. It made sense, therefore, if Feliks too had some doubts about their own capabilities. Being a student was a lot, given everything one was expected to keep up with.
Dhruv tactfully pretended that they hadn’t noticed Feliks stumbling for words. They did so by scanning the flora surrounding them. They knew Feliks well; the boy would find words no matter how long it took. And like Dhruv said… there was no judgement. Plus, they always made time for students. Hearing the younger Slytherin’s response, they chuckled. “Thank you. Everything is mostly taken care of but I can always use an extra pair of eyes to help me locate any foliage that does not belong.” In other words, dead leaves, twigs, branches, plants… “Or if some need extra care. More water, for example.” They smiled warmly at Feliks. “Let’s walk while we scour the place, shall we? And you can always tell me about what’s bothering you.”

Really? The young man never would've thought such a thing. In his eyes Professor Khanna just as pretty much all of the Professors currently at Hogwarts were fantastic in what they did. Having to effectively execute three different positions as well as tend to ones own self .. that was a lot. Probably much much more than being a student was. Fel wouldn't ever deny though that being a sixth year, while not nearly as insane as his fifth and likely to be seventh year will be, was certainly overwhelming. Balancing it all took every ounce of himself some days not to simply call it a quota. He was better than that and he did know it.
All was appreciated as always. The calmness and patience in which Khanna lead the chat helped tremendously in Feliks finding words sooner rather than later. He gave a small nod of his head, deep brown eyes drifting from plants to flowers to a tree nearby. "I think I can handle helping with that." Plants were something he did happen to know a far bit about mainly due to his mother's passion of such things. Hence both his sisters and his middle names having to do with the flowering plant of Roses and the herb plant Basil. The Professors warm smile received a gentle one from Feli. "Yes, Sir." Walking and talking had a way of feeling less serious at times and having something to do like helping with the grounds around him helped give his mind more time to find all the proper thoughts and words. "Well... If I'm being truly honest Professor, I have so many things in mind as of lately I don't even know where to begin. But I guess... Just knowing that next year is my last one here... It has me seriously trying to take into account what am I going to do after I graduate? I feel like everyone around me has a better handle on things than I do..." Including his sister. As a fifth year that girl always seemed to know everything. Completely the opposite of him or so that was how it felt a lot of the time.
