How do you see the Death Eaters and their relation to real-world events?

If they are the ones causing this economic depression, why would they do it? and where will they put the money into? They cannot use the muggle money can they? And if they are the ones responsible... the real world will be in great danger.

Ooh! Excellent tie to the economic crisis that we're in right now. But I will have to say that it would very well be a thing that the Death Eaters would do, if they were real. Muggle money could be converted to Wizarding money, first of all. But secondly, a lot of what happens in the Muggle world, also happens in the Wizarding world, and vice versa.

At least in my mind, I've always seen death eaters as being selfish and greedy. They don't do things because they want to help others, but do it out of making themselves stronger and more powerful. If they were indeed the ones behind the economic crisis, then it would make perfect sense indeed because it'd be for their own benefit only.

oohhhh thats a really cool view...may be its the death Eaters really causing economic depression so that they can torture us to become their slaves to earn money...lol!!thats a bit tooooo far fetched right??!!i guess maybe they're mostly responsible for the weird stuff hapenning in our world and stuff which is more profitable for them like maybe put the imperius curse on the President...or start up a war somewher just because they like to kill....for their entertainment only...

Hmm, I would think that they could Imperius the Heads of large brokerage firms, and possibly make them 'create' money funds that go directly in Death Eaters pockets. I could see Lucius doing this. The bogus funds would then disappear into nothingness when regulators would look into them. Isn't this at the root of our present situation? They might have Confunded a few Heads of State to buy into these funds, making them believe that they were investing their country's money in a high return, money making scheme. Looking at the PM of my country, and his finance cronies, its believable. They look dazed and confused, not knowing why they invested so much money in the first place.

Yes and like Mathi said they can make us work for money. Our money that we deserve will be the tool for our slavery...

WWWhhhhaaaattttt?????!!!!! Imperius on the president? That can be done, but I think if they got the US President under the Imperius curse they don't need to wage war, they will have to enforce strict policies the will lead to oppressions among us, and the Economic crisis is the first step... (Bwahahahaha)

I don't think they would interfere with our politics and economics like that, but I think that in doing things in the magical world they would effect things in our world. Just like in DH when they collapsed a bridge and then all the demenators mating (can i just say gross!) or when they just went around killing each other. I think they wanted to take over the magical world first and then they would have turned their attention the muggle world.
