Samantha Rose Magical Education | TG Topic #13 - The Malfoy Family What do you think will be the fate of the Malfoy family? Are Lucius and Draco going to be killed off and Narcissa run off, never to be heard from again? Is this the end for this great wizarding family? And what about the Blacks?
Note: Well, we know that the part about Lucius and Draco being killed off and Narcissa running off didn't happen, but there is still a lot of speculation to be done. What do you think became of the Malfoys and the Blacks after the story ended? Let's discuss! |

I think the fate of the Malfoy family is that it will slowly fade away taking a few Blacks with them. As we all know Good prevails, Narcissa and Draco as closet good people will survive, but Lucius will die eventually. |

Reagan F. Taylor Minister's Office | Hasn't the Black family already died out with the deaths of Sirius and Tonks? Well maybe not...
Looking at their family tree drawn by Jo, the generation before Sirius' died by 1992. There may be an exception to that with the children of Callidora (who actually is listed as alive but fairly old since she was born 1915) and Harfand Longbottom, whose names aren't listed and are just quoted to be 1 son, 1 daughter. The same goes for the children of Charis Black (d. 1973) and Caspar Crouch who had 1 son, 2 daughters. So those children may be living, as may the Blacks who were rubbed out of the tree (and their potential children) - Marius (squib), Cedrella (married a Weasley), and Alphard (who gave gold to Sirius when he ran away). Marius and Cedrella would likely be dead like the rest of their generation, but there is a possibility that their children are alive.
For Sirius' generation, his brother Regalus, himself, and his cousin Bellatrix are listed as dead (Bella died in 1998 apparently lol). The only one listed as alive is Narcissa. So basically, the only acknowledged decendent of the Black line actually rests with the Malfoy family, and the name "Black" is pretty much extinct. Kinda sad how that happens huh? Maybe all that inbreeding caused them to die at a young age? Anyhow, back to the Malfoys...
We know that Narcissa and Malfoy are alive at the time the family tree was written and at the end of the series, Narcissa was in her early 40s. We know that Draco marries and has a child. This child is basically holding onto the last little bit of Black bloodline... and possibly the Malfoy blood line. We don't know if Lucius had any siblings, but the fact that Draco was an only child and Scorpius is an only child may give us a clue that they don't have more than one per generation. This basically means all the pressure is on Scorpius to keep the family alive - good luck Scorpie!
As for HOW they lived after the close of the series, I presume the family kept out of the public eye for a bit of time after Voldemort's downfall. Perhaps Harry, knowing that Narcissa truly cared for her son the way a mother should and pitying Draco a bit, requested leniency, thereby keeping them out of Azkaban? Or maybe they all did a bit of time in Azkaban in a nice family unit LoL. Either way, we know Draco at some point is free and marries and has a child. I think they probably still have that elitest attitude, but perhaps not flaunted quite so much, allowing them to merely exist in the wizarding world.

Samantha Rose Magical Education | Tiffanie - Wow, your knowledge of facts is super impressive! I loved how you know the whole Black and Malfoy family trees. You should be the site's historian as well as your other duties (if such a position existed!)
Lucius - well, he was a hard one to change. He probably still hated muggles, simply because he was taught that philosophy his whole life and really believed in it. Narcissa and Draco, on the other hand, they mellowed quite a bit and I don't think the hatred was as strong with them. I think all three of them lived long lives, perhaps with Lucius not as happy as the other two. He was probably the first to go. Narcissa and Draco adjusted well, and probably completely changed their attitudes by the end. Scorpio - I don't think he had any problems with pureblood mania at all. (I fact, I wrote a short story where I have paired Scorpius with Harry's daughter Lily, if anyone ever has the time or interest! http://www.snitchseeker.com/finished...ve-sa13-49984/ Gee, I never meant to plug my story.)
The Blacks, yeah, there probably weren't many of them, but we don't know for sure. That's why I pattern my character, Excelsior, from the Black family line. We can all dream. Somehow, Tiffanie, I think you are right, the Blacks probably did fade out completely. How sad! |

| Considering pureblood mania existed long before Voldemort came into power, I have no doubt it'll exist long after he's gone. It's like a Hydra; convert one family and two more will pop up in its place.
I don't think the Malfoys' attitudes changes towards muggles at all but I'm sure they introverted their hatred a little. I'm sure they had some 'splanin' to do after that whole mess was cleaned up but I believe they continued living how they always lived, just taken down a notch. Give it time and another megalomaniac will rise in Voldemort's stead.
The only one that would have any chance of branching out the family tree stump would be Draco's son but I do think that Draco's instilled some of that mudblood animosity in him although perhaps not as strongly as Lucius did to him. Stuff like that has a tendency to fade with generations, especially if the times change so who knows. Maybe Draco, in order to keep the blood pure, will threaten to cut off his trust if he marries outside the purebloodline. |
