Hogwarts RPG Name: Nargles Third | The Yule Ball scene in GoF So much can be said about this scene in the movie cuz it contains a lot of new content that wasn't in the book and has a lot of room for discussion.
I was speechless everytime Ron or Hermione would say something new that wasn't in the book. For instance, when Ron thought Hermy didn't a date (that part's cannon) and said "I bet she's up in the common room crying" or something like that. Or "I was going to ask her to go with me if she hadn't been so proud" I thought that was a sorry excuse, Ronald! *wacks him on head in Snape-like manner* And Emma played very well in that scene. Acting all breathless when she was with Victor. I also felt very sorry for Herms after the ball cuz Ron was acting like a jerk "You ruin everything, Ron!" And poor Harry is just stuck in the line of fire "Both of you go to bed!!!!!" She sounded like a mom grounding her children. lol!
Overall, the emotion was everywhere and I loved it! It was made better by little details like girls in the background crying on the stairs then Hermione sitting down for a cry of her own while taking off her heels..that was just so cute yet sad! It just looked so natural. (I wanted to give Hermione a hug then)
They did this scene justice though it wasn't exactly like the book, the overall point was easy to see. Ron even said something like "completly missed the point"
I also like the fact near the end of the ball when the Weird Sisters were playing, people were dancing like ppl at a high school dance! lol Priceless! Did you see Krum's "smooth" moves! Everyone looked like they were having fun...well almost everyone.
So what did u like or not like about the Yule Ball scene? |

| | | I thought the yule ball was great. The Patil sisters were both gorgeous. I heard somebody in the theater say "Ron's got the pretty one". I disagree, both were great actresses. Harry's date I think I remembered, had a funny line in there somewhere and she was kinda cute too.
I thought they exaggerated on Hermione's crying on the stairs. But then again, I didnt re-read the book for accuracy this movie. As for the movie on the whole, I cant wait to go see it again. | |

First | Ah...the Yule Ball scene...I thought it was a masterpiece! It definetly is one of my favorite scenes in the movie. I agree they did improvise and do their own thing....differently from the book but I think it played out well!
I LOVED the part where Ron and Hermione are arguing and Hermione gets all emotional and say's to Ron that he ruins everything. I put that one in my "Classic Ron&Hermione Moments" book...(along with the hand touching scene from PoA,etc).
The way it looked so natural made it easier to watch then having the whole scene of them waltzing around...kids don't waltz! I laughed/cried when Harry was in bed and Neville came in (from the Yule Ball) late and had his shoes around his neck...it certainly was great!
Oh and I do think Ron's date looked better...just myopinion though. |

| I wasn't really looking forwad to that scene much cause I thought it'd be a bit boring but it was the total opposite. Neville and Ginny was great. Made me laugh so much. |

| i thought that the yule ball was one of the best scenes in the play. Hermione was really beautiful, and the Patil sisters were pretty as well. Although a few things were altered , I think the overall scene was great. Ron looked cute in the dress robe scene and also the last part (where everyone was dancing and he was left sitting down on the table with harry and the patil sisters). I do have to agree with what thedonhp said, though, that Hermione crying on the staircase was a bt exaggerated. But nevertheless, two thumbs up for the cast and crew of GoF!! |

| They had made alot of changes on that scene which I disliked when I saw them in the trailer. The scene that Rowling wrote at the book is best. Hermione and Ron were jealously but I didn't feel that they had done that in the movie. Hermione wasn't as she must be in the book. But still wanted to watch it to judge it correctly. |

Seventh | Well I have mixed feelings about the Ball. I am glad they let loose a little Weird Sisters!!!! That was great and they picked up the little dude and where passing him along in the crowed. <LMAO at that… but what was with Hermione telling the boys to go to bed!? And she was all really teary the whole time… but then again that is how most dances are, a bunch of girls end up crying in the corners… |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Shumeeta Leckter Second Year | I'd say, I haven't properly seen GoF but I think I know about the Yule Ball scene. Yes, Ron did have thhe pretty one. And I don't think Parvati was pretty - How come? When one sees a new cultutre, s/he is fascinated. You guys were just fascinated by them. I wasn't because Parvati/Padma's culture is very much like ours so we know the pretty ones and the not-so-pretty ones. Parvati was played by a good actress and so was Padma, but Padma was prettier and parvati was just ---- okay. Actually, both weren't that beautiful, but Padma was relatively prettier. As for Hermione telling them to go to bed, that was absurd. I mean, why couldn't they keep it like the book? In the book, Hermione was angry but not tearful whereas in the movie, she was both. Personally, I love the book much much more. The Yule Ball part was overall great, but not quite the way the book pictured it. They couldn't make it as wonderful as the book, but it was good all the same. OI rate it 6.5/10. |

| Omg I absolutely adored the Yule Ball scene!! Everyone looked gorgeous and it reminded me of a prom cause all the girls were in their beautiful dresses and the guys had on the elegant tuxedo robes. Dances and proms are always very emotional but fun things so I thought it was very real the way it was done.
Emmy really shined in this scene I think. Her and Rupert were very natural in their fight and I thought Emma's tearfulness was perfect. The whole 'go to bed thing' was a bit weird I guess but other than that I thought it was really great.
Oh Harry, Harry, what are we going to do with you? Lol. He was so cute in this. The most hilarious thing: "Harry, put your hand on my waist" said through gritted teeth. Another great thing: "May I have you hand?" "My hand, my leg, it's yours." Also hilarious. One more: "Are you going to ask me to dance or not?" "No." Poor Padma. If my date treated me like that I would do exactly like she did and walk away.
The Viktor and Hermione parts were so cute!! If I wasn't a R/H shipper I'd be like Hermione get with Viktor right now! Stan is so hot. Anyway, they were just adorable, especially how he kissed her hand. Them dancing to the Weird Sisters was great. It looked they were having a good time. I loved the Weird Sisters by the way. It was a great effect.
Overall I thought it was brilliant and really realistic. 9/10! XD |

| I loved the Yule ball, it was a very good sence. I liked the line that Harry's date had (always get them confused so not even going to try) after they were sitting at the table and the Dumstrang boy came up. I aslo loved Hermione and the crying in it. It showed just how much she cares about Ron. It was nothing like I pictured it would be when I read the book, but I do believe that Mike gave it justic. |

| The Yule Ball scene was beautiful, Emma really shined with Krum. Ron was so mean to her, she had right to flip out on him! The fight was great, and really natural too. Harry looked so cute in this scene and the twins were funny. I loved it! |

| The Yule Ball was great!!! but I just wish it was longer. I wanted to see more of the band and hear the song "Do the Hippogriff." I loved how the students were actually dancing, not too much of that formal stuff. But really, I wish it were longer!!!! |

| The Yule Ball scene was wonderful, but it wasn't long enough. I knew it was coming up as soon as Ron got his frilly dress robes from his mom. Hagrid dancing with Madam Maxime, that was funny, but pretty sweet. The R/Hr moments are one of the funniest parts and are really shown more during the Yule Ball. Yeah a little bit extended with Hermione crying, but it was supposed to show how much she liked Ron obviously. Everyone looked lovely and Ron showed his jealousy. We all know it's R/Hr even if it was adorable how Hermione went with Viktor. It was interesting to see it played out. I enjoyed it. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Annabelle McClorey First | It was a bit short for my taste, but it was definitely one of the scenes that I loved thoroughly. Emma's acting has definitely improved, and she and Stan did an excellent job. Rupert, as always, is the most canon of the three and was AMAZING at the ball with all of his reactions and lines...and I do like what he said about how he "would've taken her if she wasn't so proud" because even though it wasn't in the book, leave it to Ron to say something like that! Lol
My favorite part about the Ball scene though was the final fight between R/Hr which was originally in the common room in the book. IT was exactly like the book, and was PERFECT! I don't think we could've asked for anything better. It was excellent! Rupert and Emma did an amazing job with it, and it finally showed HErmione being a mom to Harry when she told him to go to bed! But I loved that part...though not enough R/Hr in the movie...there was only like two things in the entire movie, but life goes on.
Excellent part in the movie, and it was probably the one thing I wasn't disappointed in!
R/Hr forever!

| it was awesome. it was completely perfect. i mean, yea, they did change a few things, but it worked all well. it was my fave scene in the whole movie. i was really fascinated by the acting of both rupert and emma-you know in the scene where they fight after the ball. it was gorgeous. ok i can't comment without saying "it was perfect" between every sentence, so i'd better shut up. but it really was great. splendid. ok i'll shut up |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Adz Sixth | I found it really sad that hermione was having such a great evening - full of laughter and romance....but then ron had to go and spoil it all, so she was there on the steps - more beautiful then we had ever seen her, crying her eyes out.... i hated ron for that.... |

| The Yule Ball is a huge highlight of the book in my opinion so I was really looking forward to the scene from the movie and it lived up to my expectations. The only part I disliked was Hermione's pink dress when it should have been blue. The rest was perfect. |

Yule Ball scene was perfect! Quote: |
Acting all breathless when she was with Victor.
| well I think it was perfect cos it showed the "teenage" Hermione. By breathless, you mean nervous, right? Quote: |
I thought they exaggerated on Hermione's crying on the stairs.
| no. way. that was the best bit for me! yes, she wasnt crying on that part of the book but it was all great. Quote: |

| well... I hated Ron for that too!
so for me, yule ball was indeed quick but it was perfect. I got all the R/Hr moments I wanna see and even got a bonus when Hermione cried. R/Hr so rocks my life!

| I thought the Yule Ball was just brillant...the setting was beautiful, and the above shot with everyone dancing was just brillant (even though they had previews of that )
I thought it was great, I really loved this scene, just everything about it. Hermione's dress did bother me though, it was a bit too frilly, and pink (and that's coming from someone who loves pink )
I really liked Hermione towards the end of the scene when she was "yelling" at Ron and Harry. XD |

It was completly perfect (besides the pink)! Yes, Herms was nervous and I thought it was sweet seeing that side of her! ..got me all giggly! ..am such a girl. Well, to me Hermione looked slightly breathless whenever Krum was around and I loved it when she started actin' all smiliey and stuff cuz yes she was nervous. *replays scene in head* AWWW..I HAVE TO SEE IT AGAIN! And then near the end of the movie, Krum blows her a kiss. *faint* Whoa! And Emma looks all shy and gives him only limited eye contact cuz she's nervous. And I don't know about you, but the way she said 'Everything's about to change now isn't it?' meant something different then maybe what Harry thought...and what I thought she meant when I first heard her say it in the trailers.
I was simply in R/Hr heaven in this movie... |

| it was ok, but i really wanted to see Draco walk in with Pansy. x_x how could they cut that out??? DRACO should have been in way more scenes cuz he's so hot. LOL
the thing i didnt like about the Yule Ball was that it seemed like there was so little people dancing and stuff.
i thought that it would be crowded and noisy but it seemed empty sort of, cuz everyone was all squished at the front. |
