oh, the beginning was deffinately rushed, it made me mad, but i guess that they did the best they could, given the length of the book and whatnot. and the only thing that happened durring the year was the tasks, but they can't be blamed for that, since it really was the only important thing that happened. ah well. a great movie, nonetheless.

I think it was great, you have to understand that they had to cut it down quite abit. I mean look at LotR, its about 950 pages and they made it into 3 seperate 3+ hour movies. Now for the most part it did move quickly, but I wouldn't called it rushed, now PoA, that was rushed, if they had just added 5 minutes and explained abit about who the Marauder's are and that the shreiking shack wasn't haunted, but the screaming was Lupin changing to a werewolf when he was at school. I would have been much happier with it, and maybe a little something about why when harry and Hermione finally got under the Whopping Willow, why Harry had a feeling were it lead, form the movie, he had no reason to think it went anywhere.

ha. the same thing happened with my sister. my little niece was saying "oh no. I´ll tell ya what happen after the movie"
and I guess that my sister wasnt the only one in the place...

Gosh, I miss Cuaron, definetly. maybe their movie did not follow exactly the book, but got the spirit. the dark, sad an funny spirit of the books...

anyway, isnt that bad too.

Yeah, not showing even a tiny bit of the Quidditch match was a big mistake in my opinion, and in the 1st task they could have cut the down the dragon-chasing-harry-forever scene and added scenes with the other champions performing the task. And Dumbledore never really explained what the Triwizard Tournament was... It was definately rushed.

The beginning was just fast-paced and fun and exciting, but the end was waaaaaaaay too fast. The movie could absolutely have been 10 minutes longer and 5 of those minutes should have been in the graveyard listening to Voldy monologue. There were so many questions set up all throughout the first 3 stories that were answered there. I wasn't satisfied with that scene. IMHO

only in the beginning, yes.
i think the scene would cause a bit of confusion for those who never read the book.

The movie was definetly rushed. I kno they had to rush or else it would be to long, but they could have kept some things in (S.P.E.W,Dobby,etc... ) that were a big part in the book. If they put these parts in I think it could've made the movie better and easier to understand.

not at all .. i loved the movie .... i can see why some people who havent read the books would be confused on what was happening because i kept "duplicting scenes from the book and filling those scenes into the movie * if that makes sense* ... i cant imagine wat i would do if i had to put a harry potter book into a movie .. itd prob be a fiasco lol

They had to rush it to get as much in as they could. As it was they had to cut out the Quidditch World cup match.

It was rushed..
I mean come on! the year passed so quickly! nothing append between the tasks, and nearly all the characters (besides Harry and Dumbledore) had 3 lines.. I know it's kind of impossible that the film can be exactly the same as the book, but they can make an effort!
besides the rushing I guess it wasn't to bad..

In the beginning, a little. But the rest of the movie went by as it should. I mean, they cant put everything in the movie.

Thumbs down

Yah it was, I was looking forward to seeing the Weasley's stuck in the fireplace and the quidditch cup was way too short. I also thought that they spent to long on the dragons and Yule Ball. Ron and Harry were mad at eachother for too long and I was kinda dissapointed because it was my fav book. SSoo

At first I thought it was a little rushed. But it is 2 hours and 1/2. It is just so much stuff and action pack. The time just goes fast.

I had mentioned this in the thread regarding the graveyard scene, but I do feel that the whole movie was rushed. I know that it had to fit the context of the movie and the time frame for Hollywood. I know that it had to be almost a "self-contained" movie for non-Potter readers to enjoy the movie without knowing any backstory, etc... But I still think that it was rushed. I felt that as soon as it started, it just kept going faster and faster, almost like I wasn't really watching it at all. It was almost too surreal.

I think for a person who doesn't read the Potter books, and only knows of the series through the movies, then no. But for most of us who have read the book (and I'm sure many times over), it seems rushed, and a lot of details and backstory and continuity was cut for Hollywood sensibilities.

But I keep an open mind and enjoy it for what it was. An adaptation of a book. Heck, even "The Right Stuff" had to cut stuff out in it's transition from page to screen. And hopefully, the movies will do for others what it did for me, and people will go and read the books.
