Default Weird Sisters

THIS iS ABOUT WEIRD SISTERS CASTING

UNBELIEVABLE

There are interesting stuff i read
Weird Sisters:
Jarvis Cocker... (From Pulp)
Phil Selman... (From Radiohead)
Jonny Greenwood (From Radiohead)

This is sooo interesting..
there's also stuff going on about Jarvis doing the soundtrack too.

here are websites i read them in.

Jarvis Cocker to Score Next Harry Potter Film?

Nick Patch reports:
John Williams must be rolling over in his grave. After scoring the first three Harry Potter flicks, the man responsible for the most annoyingly hummable movie scores of the last 25 years has been ousted in favor of... Jarvis! In a curious move, former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker will reportedly write most of the music for the fourth Potter film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, select the remainder of it, and may even make a cameo appearance in the movie. According to an article in UK paper The Sun, Cocker was selected by new Potter director Mike Newell in an effort to appeal to a different audience... as well as, we presume, more Mojo writers.

A source at Warner Bros. told The Sun, "[Cocker] is a very talented musician who is a big fan of movies and knows exactly how they work. You may just think Jarvis is the bloke in specs who fronted Pulp but he is a man with many hidden depths." For instance? He can juggle. Cocker is apparently considering writing the score under the name of his alter ego, Darren Spooner, just, y'know, for kicks. Plus, attaching a name like Jarvis Cocker to the project could really detract the focus from the story of a crime-fighting wizard kid. Or whatever it is these things are about.

There is, naturally, the real possibility that this all could be nuts. The Sun's story directly contradicts an October report by MTV.com that had Franz Ferdinand scoring and starring in the very same film. In fact, that article even had a quote from singer Alex Kapranos, who broke it down thusly: "We've been asked to write some music. There's a section where there's a band of ugly sisters playing and I think, well... some members of Franz Ferdinand may be the ugly sisters in the band." He continued, "There's an excitement and innocence about those films. I like how there's good and evil, and that's a clarity which is quite refreshing."

Clearly, someone ain't telling the truth. And to make matters worse, a third source, the highly reputable John Williams Fan Network, announced previously that composer Patrick Doyle had been selected to score the flick. However, the answer to all this nonsense may at least partly lay in an aside in the Sun article that mentions that Cocker has picked Franz Ferdinand to write a track for the film. But one thing is pretty clear, whoever winds up writing the soundtrack: John Williams is out on his magical butt.

______________

COCKER TO PLAY POTTER MUSIC

Former PULP star JARVIS COCKER will lend his musical magic to the latest HARRY POTTER movie - he's signed up to score the soundtrack.

The charismatic singer - famous for flashing his backside at MICHAEL JACKSON during the THRILLER legend's performance at the 1996 BRIT AWARDS - is also on board to make a cameo appearance in HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE.

Cocker, along with Scots rockers FRANZ FERDINAND have been picked to write music for the fourth installment of the boy wizard's adventures following director MIKE NEWELL's pledge to modernise the film's soundtrack.

And after Newell turned to young Harry Potter actor DANIEL RADCLIFFE and his co-stars for inspiration, Cocker emerged top of the wish list.

A WARNER BROTHERS source says, "Everyone here is really excited about Jarvis being involved in Goblet Of Fire. He is a very talented musician who is a big fan of movies and knows exactly how they work."

This is nothing new. I don't see why it's unbelievable though, they're experienced and talented musicians who could pull off the whole 'Weird' Sisters thing really well.

COLOR=Dark Orange]I agree any performer would be great for the role. The weird thing is maybe I read the book wrong but I always pictured the Weird Sisters to be sisters as in women and not men, but maybe it was just my misunderstanding.

They're actually not women. If you look at the playing cards and on the video games, it shows them to be men. JK's also had one of the players as a wizard of the month on her site and he was male too.

That's funny... I always assumed that they were men. Kinda like Barenaked Ladies are a bunch of unnaked men. lol

I still would've loved it being Franz Ferdinand... but that's just me. Having two musicians from Radio Head though is cool.

^ I agree, I would have liked Franz Ferdinand, but then they are a little too comercial.

Apparentl the Franz were never even gunna do it, it was just all rumours. & these days yeah they are too commercial. They should've used Snow Patrol.

This may sound sexist but... shouldn't the Weird Sisters be all female?

Not really. I don't know how old you are, but there was Twisted Sister, who were all guys as well. Then groups like Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson who're guys. It's just supposed to be ironic, or whatever. Like a shocker.

I imagined them very different. But still good. Mike Newell had a lot of influence on it and he definately achieved his goal. Making them into a rock band and having an outrageous concert was another way of showing that the students are growing.

I dig that whole deal! I think they pulled that off really well. One of the things that pleased me the most to see, really. Particularily like `Do The Hippogriff´, it's such a good party song. And believe me, I've tested that.
