Default Part of the GoF script

A section of it can be read here.

It seems very good to me apart from perhaps the over use of Hermione. But you have to remember that at this point in the story, Ron & Harry aren't speaking to each other.

I especially love the way Rita, Krum and the twins are woven in. & I love the way the champions are described within the tent.

What do you think of it?

It is a bit much. Hermione knows her place - she wouldn't have to be told by DD to leave. However, I can see the reason for having her there.

1) To support Harry -- pushing the motherly imagery further
2) To connect her with Krum - the script has them looking at each other at one point & to also show Krum defending Hermione nobly, pushing the idea that he's a nice boy
3) To spark the flame which is behind Rita's article - the hug prompts her to make snide comments
4) Her prescence could also show how much Hary misses Ron because he'd find her fussing to be tedious.

It's unusually detailed. i'd hav thought they'd think this stuff rather unecessary.

I'd never be able to figure that out myself.
thanks for enlightening!
and i'd thouhgt it was too detailed when all this while
its crammed with necessity

I like it. However, I'm finding it awfully hilarious not to have Ludo Bagman around. I wonder why they didn't cast him?

A tad too much Hermione, but something I've grown to ignore. But I also think the movie has to show things that the book doesn't necessarily have to. We're reading Harry's thoughts in the book, but in the movie we're not. Like it's been said... we have to see Krum's interest and we have to see Rita thinking it's H/Hr as well as Krum later on... and plus Ron's fighting with Harry, so that's obviously why he ain't around.

It has to be detailed. Stage directions are needed so the actors now where they're standing and the camera knows where to move and who to focus on.

Unnecessary character I suppose. All he really does is end up losing a bet to the twins.

Oh yeah, definitely. But when you look at PoA and some of the unnecessary characters (seriously, I haven't looked at that thread, but did we ever figure who that kid is? LOL) you'd think having Ludo wouldn't be the worse thing in the world.

I just figured something out. You know in the script she hugs Harry all upset and then Rita comes up behind them. I reckon this picture is from that scene.

Harry, Hermione, Rita.

True, true.

Oooh, good catch! And Hah! I just noticed Rita's dress has those sharp looking scales.

Hmm. I wonder why Hermione isn't in her robes? I realize why Harry isn't, but you'd think they would be in their robes a bit more since they're competing with two other schools. You know, showing school pride...

Well she does look like she has a green robe over the top of a grey jumper and jeans. Kids will be kids. They'll probably wave banners & school scarves and stuff. Looks sort of like they're trying to dress Hermione down in preparation for the Yule Ball.

Is that a robe or a coat? Looks like a trench coat to me. And I figure they'd be doing that, but you'd think they'd wear their robes a little more in this film.

I noticed they're toning Hermione down as well. I always thought it was pretty funny though... people thinking that a) Hermione is ugly and b) that no one would be floored when Hermione came in to the Yule Ball because Emma's so pretty. They obviously don't realize that Ron and Harry and all just never noticed Hermione as a girl rather than Hermione is ugly and that even the prettiest person can still look even more beautiful.

Well, Hermione couldn't have ever been that pretty. In the books, Lavender and Parvati do mock her because of how she looks -- the teeth and the hair in particular. Having said that, she wasn't ugly either. But she's never been as pretty as they've had Hermione in the films.

But it won't be a shock now, seeing her pretty because Hermione was glamourised from CoS onward. If they'd kept the PS hair then they wouldn't have had to have toned Hermione down -- but that's off-topic so I'll shut up LOL

LOL Of course, we girls can be a bit catty now, can't we? haha. I think Hermione was just very plain more than ugly. But you're right, they've glamorized Hermione and I doubt it'll be bunch of a shock, but they can definitely still make her even more beautiful.

It is a lot of Hermione, however, I do take into account what Marcella Riddle said that this is around the time that Harry and Ron are mad at each other. Didn't Harry and Hermione spend quite a bit of time together during that time??

Yeah they do and Harry finds it pretty boring. Fear not R/Hr shippers! Besides, Hermione won't feature too much in this film, after all there's the Quidditch Match and the tasks which she doesn't feature in (apart from being unconscious underwater). There won't be much of an opportunity to misconstrue her in this film.

Like Ron's and especially Dumbledore's. Which was possibly the worse considering that she was only 12 speaking a wise person's words. :\ (The "fear of the name" thing in CoS.) Although if they don't stop giving her Ron's lines, he pretty much will only be there for decoration.
