| I wondered about that issue. I thought they were co-ed. It seems kind of strange to have a wizarding school not be co-ed. Shouldn't all wizards have the same powers. Why should one sex be superior? By not having a co-ed wizarding school it seems that that's what would happen, the feeling of being superior.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Marcella Riddle Graduated | The way I see it, Beauxbatons obviously isn't the only French school (the country is huge so it's bound to have more than one) so I don't see the problem with it being all girls. |

| Ya in the trailer they made it obvious that they made Beauxbatons an all girl school and Drumstrang an all boys school but its not like that in the books. Parvati and Padma were asked by boys from Beauxbatons to dance so thats something but i dont know about Drumstrang. |

| I was amazed when I read the news about the movie and then I re-read GoF book. Both - Durmstrang and Beaxbatons are co-ed schools. The mvoei filmers can't keep up with the book even in this |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Marcella Riddle Graduated | It's not that they 'can't keep up'. They obviously had limited time in France and Bulgaria to cast and so choosing same sex actors might've been a way of solving that. It's not pivotal either way. And the films aren't trying to be the books. |

| erm... Are there few French or Bulgarian guys/girls in UK? As far as I know (my friend told be) that's there are huge masses of immigrants from Bulgaria. They could have casted (at least partly) in the UK |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Marcella Riddle Graduated | Stan is a Bulgarian studying the UK and Clemence works in the UK. But their both natives. For extras they went abroad. Nationality is obviously important to them. |

| i personally don't like that they made them single-sexed schools, but it's not really that big of a deal. i won't lose sleep over it. |

| I was wondering about that too. I didn't picture it being an all boys school, all girls. I think, if I remember correctly though, they only chose a few ppl from each school to participate.
So maybe they aren't, but it'd be cute if that's the idea they were aiming for. |

| I don't think Durmstrang is all boy, but with there headmaster being Karkaroff, the champions he selected to come along to Hogwarts were all boys (physical strength I guess)
About Bauxbaton, the book indeed mentoined boys beingpart of it... |

| I kind of pictured Beauxbatons to be an all girl school but I kind of thought that Durmstrang would have both boys and girls in the school, but I guess that isn't going to happen in the movie. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Gabrielle Fierch Second | I remember watching a trailer preview thing... and in one of the interviews some one stated something about trying to make each one unique.
By making Beaubatons all girls and their entrance all... weird with the butterflies and the Drumstrang's all boys with gymnastic stuff (i have to admitt i got chills both times i watched it in the movies)- it helps make each school more memorable in the eyes of the audience members who haven't read the books.
And yes, in the book, Beaubatons had both boys and girls-
In the book, it stated that, "Parvati and Padma were now sitting at a distant table witha whole crowd of Beauxbatons boys..."
as for Durmstrang... it never really mentions anyone else except the boys.
I'm guessing it really is only a boys school, since its a very serious school for the dark arts and im not sexist or anything but it's hard to picture many girls there. |

| as for their entrances, i couldn't stand it. at least, not the beauxbatons entrance. the butterflies, what was up with the butterflies? and the sighing?!?!?!!? ah well, life goes on.
anyway, yes, beauxbatons is co-ed, but i guess the movie staff decided that the idea of a school full of enchanting french girls was a great one. as for durmstrang, well, the headmaster is karkarof. what more needs to be said? i doubt he's the kind of man who would willingly give the chance of "eternal glory", i believe was the term DD used, to a girl student, so that explains that. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Serilda Katherine Calligahan Fifth | I liked it better being that Beauxbatons was an all girls school becasue it made Fleur more fit to represent the French (what boys like all girls to be) school; Durmstrang is better off being an all boys school because Krum was so much better to be a representative for the school as the best man for the job, literally (Stan was also the best looking off all the Durmstrang boys and also girls like foreign, rugged boys; I should know ).
I liked the uniforms too.
The dance was cool, odd, but cool. |

| no. I didnt picture Durmstrang as an all-boys school and Beauxbatons as an all-girls school. I think it's beacause of their champions.
Durmstang's entrance was grand and the Beauxbaton's was really nice. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Eunice Murray Fifth | I imagined Beauxbatons as a all girls school and Durmstrang as an all boy school, but I'm not sure if they say it in the book...I just assumed, since they never talked about Durmstrang girls or Beauxbatons boys. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Garret Crocker First Year | it was never mentioned that it's an all girls or boys school. i guess the producers just thought it would be cooler to have it like that. and i have to admit, i adore the entrance of the durmstrang boys..very schmexy |
