He may be our hero, he may be our Idol, but that doesn't make James free of all negative traits. We know for certain that, in his dislike for Severus, he often put more than just a toe out of line. He was also, to some extent, conceited about being 'the height of cool,' as was Sirius. [Exuse me while I drool].
So, what else were dear Jamesy's negative traits? Did he hate? Did he revenge? Was he proud? If you have an opinion, hit us with it!
As much as I love mah Jamesy ♥ He def. had his negative traits. I think he was a bit arrogant as times. He was only child, his parents were quite rich, he was smart and he had excellent Quidditch/flying skills. You can't help but to be a tad arrogant with all those qualities. And Lily was right when she said that James thought he was "cool" by going around and hexing people randomly.
^ Yes, that is the point. We've seen he was arrogant. And his attitude towards Severus was... I hate to admit it, but it was shameful. I understand Severus's faults, too, but he had a complicated life, and James made it all the more complicated. He was 'the height of cool,' James, yes, but he was more than just a tad bit too much aware of it and, at times, he utilized that sense of being good at pretty much everything wrongly.
