Professor Truebridge set up the Gobstones court and waited for the Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors who were competing in the match to approach. He offered a bag for each team, containing red gobstones for Gryffindor and gold (Truebridge thought they were more yellow than gold, but who was he to quibble?) for Hufflepuff.

"This is the preliminary match for this term's Gobstones Club tournament, I expect you have all read the rules. Participating indicates to me that you have and therefore I expect a good match."

He took out a grey stone from the bag he held and placed it in the centre of the court.

"If you are ready, then let us begin."

The Gryffindor team get a little over excited and three players attempt to aim for the Jack stone, knocking each other fiercely enough that they are knocked out of play. Patient Hufflepuff take aim and knock the Jack stone with a perfect shot, Gryffindor are covered in gob and Hufflepuff wins the point and the round.
