Default Wht did Barty Crouch use the Triward Cup?

I noticed something that I completely didn't understand in GOF. Why did Barty Crouch Junior have to use the Triwizard Cup as a Portkey? Couldn't he have used anything else that would have been so much easier like Harry's glasses or his robes? It seems he was going through alot more trouble this way. There was always the risk that Harry wouldn't win or that someone else might have gone through instead. Can somebody explain this?

It would have been harder for Barty jr to hace gotten hold of those things because he wouldn't have an excuse to touch them. Whereas he had an opportunity to curse the cup when he had to carry the cup in to the maze. Also if Voldemort's plan had worked then an easy exclamaiton to Harry' disappearence could have been that he was eaten by one of the creatures. About one of the other's being able to win, Barty jr was cursingg the other champions so there was noway that anybody but Harry could win.

He had taken all those...precautions so as to be sure that Harry WOULD win. And he couldn't just put it on anything, there was always a chance that Harry wouldn't pick it up, or someone else would. Plus, in the maze, they wouldn't KNOW it was Voldemort who murdered Harry, people would just assume something in the maze got him. that was Voldemort's goal, that people wouldn't know he's back.

Well, wouldn't Harry notice if Moody (Barty Crouch) took his glasses or robes or something? It was easiest to turn the Cup into a Portkey because he was responsible for it.

Because that would blow him off wouldn't it? He wouldn't want everyone to find out that he was using pollyjuice potion. He had to plan everything out carefully.

Yes he had to plan everything out because he didn't want to be found out.

Sometimes you've got to be crazy, to be sane! ;-)♥♥

Voldemort's whole plan is to come back and have no one find out, so he could regain strength and mount a surprise attack of the unsuspecting witches and wizards. So if Voldemort killed him, but not it the maze, it would be more obvious that something or someone bad was out there, whereas if it was in the maze, Voldemort could easily blow it off as an accidental death during a going wrong in the maze.

Also another problem would be that Moody (Crouch Jr.) would have to find Harry's possessions to be able to make them into a portkey, which would most likely be very difficult. He could easily be seen. Though if he did manage to find something to make into a portkey, there is the possibility that Harry might not touch it at all, or someone else might my accident which would lead to the death and disappearance of a student on the school grounds, which would lead to a lot of suspicion and worry from everyone.

Therefore it would be a lot easier to simply make the cup into a portkey and plan it all out so that Harry would be in the Triwizard Tournament, win it and get to the cup so he could go to the grave yard. And then Voldemort would be able to kill him and come back and regain strength and finish what he started before.

The simple answer: there would be no book! It was made that way by Rowling so we could have a reason for the Triwizard Tournament and the excitement from the story.
