Can mermaids speak English?

My question probably won't matter if your not obsessed with Fred and George, but I am. Who did George take to the yule ball? Fred took Angelina and I like to think George took Alicia. I hope he at least had a partner. JK Portrays the twins as quite popular, and I'm sure someone would love to take him, but the only time he's mentioned at the Yule Ball, he is talking to Bagman with Fred and neither of them have their partners. There is not thread really related to this in the film section, but in the film, George is defintly dancing with someone, and Is still dancing with her at the end,when there are few couples left. But who? I don't think you can actually see them at all because every time I watch GoF, you can never see, and believe me, I look hard!! They probably didn't show her because JK never said who George took in the book, but I'm still wondering who he took in the film as well...

Hi. My question is... Why did it take Harry and cedric dIggory so long to work out the clue in the egg? I mean, it was a bit too obvious don't you think? And as there was a painting of a mermaid sitting right in front of them, and moaning myrtle told Harry that cedric took longer to work it out than Harry. I mean, cedric was three years above Harry at hogwarts so I would have thought that he would have got on to the clue as soon as he'd heard the clue. Obviously not...:|
