They probably h8 her cause she loves Harry. Thats what happens when someone else loves the person that you have feelings for. E.g - I hate hermione cause she loves ron.

I don't really understand all the Cho hate - well, I guess I understand, but I definitely don't agree with it. I don't think she's as horrible a person as some people make her out to be. Yes, she cried a lot, but can you really blame her? It was a really difficult year for her, what with Cedric's death and her parents and best friend pressuring her to stay on Umbridge's good side even though Cho didn't like what the woman was doing at Hogwarts.

And I don't believe that she only liked Harry and wanted to go out with him after Cedric was gone. I think she probably started liking him at least the year before - if not even earlier than that - probably after he asked her to the Yule Ball, because then she suddenly knew that he actually knew she existed and that he liked her.

And personally, I think Cho's better suited for Harry than Ginny is. As a character, Cho is more well-rounded, imo, and Cho/Harry had way more build up than Harry/Ginny ever did.

Exactly! Thank you! This is exactly one of the reasons I like Cho. I think she's great for sticking up for her friend like she did, especially to Harry, the guy she liked. Any real friend would stick up for their friend if someone was talking badly about them, even if they don't agree with whatever their friend did. I'm sure Harry would stick up for Ron and Hermione if they ever did something bad and people were picking on them for it, so I wasn't very happy with him for the way he treated Cho for being a decent friend.

Besides, I find it more admirable for a girl to choose her friend over the guy she likes, especially if her friend made a mistake, than I do for a girl to choose the guy over her friend.

The truth is, no one really has a real reason to hate Cho, and every argument made can be easily refuted, proving that they only hate her because they've either hated her for so long, why turn back now, or because they choose to be ignorant and dislike her for no reason. Which is basically the same thing I suppose. Cho Chang is a pretty good character, she was just never elaborated on enough seeing as J.k Rowling obviously made her to be Harry's "first girlfriend" and that's it. It was a warm up for Ginny Weasley. Which is a waste of character development, but whatever.

I could never see why people hated Cho, after all she did no wrong in the book or the altered version in the movie of OotP.

In the book she was caught betwen a rock and a hard place. She felt guilty about fancying Harry especially after the death of Cederic, but she made it clear in GoF that it was Harry that she really wanted to date.

In the film of OotP, it portrays that Cho betrayed the DA but we know in the book it was her friend. Also Umbridge used veritas serum on Cho so even in the movie it wasn't her fault.

I feel that there was a lot of female jealousy going on at the time where some people forgot the diference between fact and fiction.

People hating Cho, just jealousy. I don't hate her, I felt sorry for her for losing Cedric, being forced to give Harry and DA away and everything else that happened to her! She never did anything wrong, not intentionally.

She didn't do anything bad, its just luck didn't seem to lean on her side. All of us have our own opinions, I like her character, if Cedric didn't die, she wouldn't have be with Harry to be comforted...
