Yeah, it's a great spell, and I think it might come very useful in getting rid of a few Death Eaters.
However, Voldemort is a whole different story. Harry's gonna need much more powerful spells to get rid of Voldie baby! Dumbledore once said that it would take uncommon skill and power to defeat a wizard like Voldie even without his Horcruxes. Which takes us back to the ''power Voldemort knows nothing about...'' but that's a whole new topic...

Oh and I'm not sure Draco would've died if Snape wasn't around...but he would've stayed in hospital wing for much longer, that's for sure. And he'd probably be left with fair amount of scars.
Great spell all in all, I always knew Snape was a genius

I think this spell would be most effective when Harry is attacked by werewolves, which I'm sure will happen.

I thnk Haryy will use it. I mean, it's pretty useful especially against the Death Eaters.

It is a great spell, but as for the argument of using it against LV, it seems that LV would be able to block it somehow (remember the shield he used to block one of DD's spell). Also, LV would be able to heal himself once he was hit by it, in my opinion

How do we know that Snape was the person that developed that hex and that he’s not just taking credit for someone else’s work. The book was published nearly 50 years prior to Harry having it……was there anyone else that was at Hogwarts nearly 50 years early?

Well it was Snape's own copy of the book and it was written in his handwriting. It is possible he learnt it somewhere and just wrote it down, but he did seem to imply that he had invented the spells.

Yes I agree with you…..the whole 2nd paragraph on pg 604 of HBP seems to show that Snape takes claim for inventing the spell. Its just curious that J.K would take the time to point out the books publishing date of 50 years earlier pg 337 HBP.

It is no question that Snape is a powerful wizard now, however, I am not convinced that back in school he had the ability to create such spells. Back in school he was a loner/outcast and some what of a loser, the type of person that would want to align himself with anything or anyone that might bring him self-respect, power (such as taking credit for others inventions, coming up with the name half blood prince). This is most likely why he joined LV and the death eaters in the first place.

I think all dark wizards should have it put on them, but the problem is, as (WARNING, MAJOR SPOILER TO BOOK 6) Snape is the Half Blood Prince, the other side knows it too. I think that being a loser/outcast has everything to do with it!! Either he made it up with his crazy amount of friendless time, or he found it in some super-dark book in his crazy amount of friendless time.

All dark wizards should have Sectumsempra performed on them?

My... what an all-encompassing punishment. That's very ...dark-minded of you.

Hmm.

With suggestions like that, people may wonder where your true loyalties lie...

*raises an eyebrow knowingly*

I don't think anyone deserves to have that spell put on them, but it is a cool spell anyways.

i dont like that curse at all because it can create huge damage like if it misses the person and hi ts another innocent bystander than that bystander will be seriously injured and they didnt even do anything to deserve it. i also think that even if that person was a deatheater that no one deserves that kind of death/serious injury.
