Ooo...i've posted in here and i remember saying that Petunia might be a Squib. Now, i'm going to post again and something different... i supposed that she is not a Squib...why? I think that Petunia is jealous of her sister, as shown in the first book and movie, and that something happened and Petunia knows a lot about YOU-KNOW-WHO and fears him also; she knows how evil he is.

Chances are that Lily told Petunia all about school during her summer breaks... they were likely to have been close growing up; after all, they are sisters, and they weren't around each other constantly (a good way to remain close with your sister, trust me!). Petunia probably developed a jealousy over MANY years, but she had already learned all of the things that Lily had told her. I think she was interested in magic and was upset because she was just a muggle while her sister went on to this great school where she learns all kinds of cool things. Slowly this can tear apart even the closest of people. However, I do agree that she is no suib. It is quite clear that a squib is a non-magical person in a magical family, and also that Lily was the first in the Family to be magical.

If she were a squib, it'd probably have been known by now. She is too anti-magic and all that to even be CONSIDERED a squib

This is a tough one. Petunia could be a squib because in HP and the SS, it sounded like she was a little jealous of her sister for being a wizard and having powers. But Petunia could be a Muggle because she's always weirded out whenever someone mentions magic.

she cant be a SQUIB cuz her mum and dad were muggles but she might have tried to learn magic like filch, you know like try and learn it cuz she saw her sister was a witch and tried it herself, i have thought of her being more conected to the magical world than she says but she can not be a squib, but yea she is probably more close to the magical world than she says.

i think she may be even though she was born to muggle parents her sister is a witch and dosent that run in familys for example colin and denis creevey are boen to muggles but the 2 of them are wizzards. and she dose seen to be mor jellous of what lilly could do maby that is why she is so angry.

I was just thinking, maybe Petunia and Lily are half sisters. That way they wouldn't be WHOLE sisters with the exact same blood. Like if they have the same mother but different fathers (or the other way around) then maybe Petunia's real father/mother was a wizard/witch which would give Petunia magical blood to become a squib or a full-fleged witch. Or maybe the are step-sisters so they wouldn't share the same blood at all. And didn't the book say that Lily and Petunia had different color eyes? That like Petunia's eyes were blue and Lily's were green? That could be the result of them not being full blooded sisters.

There are a lot of good theories in here, like Caligurls, and someone's on the first page where Petunia tried out Hogwarts and didn't like it, but going back to the original point of this thread Petunia can't be a squib. Supposing that Lily's parents are Petunia's real parents too then it is impossible for her to be a squib since Lily's parent's are muggles.

A squib is someone born by a wizard and a witch who are not magical, or that's a weird word but yeah. Not someone born by muggles who turns out to be a muggle.

I think it's entirely possible. There was an article on Mugglenet about it.

i dont belive so, they said it was a shock when Lily got the owl, they would of at least notified Petunia if she was a squib.

I dont think Petunia is a Squib even though she knows about Dementors and such. Her sister went to Hogwarts for 7 years. She could have overheard lily telling her parents because it also says they were really proud of lily
