| How did Voldemort get his wand back? Okay...stay with me on this.
The night Voldemort killed the Potters and tried to kill Harry, apparently he turned into...that spirit-like thing that possessed Quirrell, correct?
When he comes into a body in GoF, he has his wand back! We know that it's his, because it's the brother wand of Harry's. Also, Harry's parents come out of the wand.
So...how did Voldemort get his wand back? Did someone get to the Potter's House before a "good guy"? (That is, Hagrid, Sirius, Dumbledore, or anyone from the Ministry.)
Don't you think that someone would have snapped his wand if they had gotten there first? Were they too occupied with getting Harry to safety? Or were they convinced that Voldemort wasn't coming back? Apparently Dumbledore knew that he would.
I guess the only explanation is that Peter Pettigrew or another Death Eater was there. Pretty much the only candidates would be Peter or Snape (if he is helping Voldemort). All the other DEs didn't even know Voldemort was back until he was in his body in GoF!
What do you all think? |

| It had to be Peter, I can't think of any other way he could have gotten it back.
Especially because if Peter was snooping around at the Potter's no one would think twice about it. Remember he fooled the whole wizarding world with that whole bereaved friend act, so were he looking through the rubble it wouldn't be seem strange. Particularly if he pretended to be looking for any survivors. |

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But then I though about something else. Peter is not the most loyal of DEs. And he must have been scared out of his wits. He'd just betrayed his friends to Voldemort, who he (more than likely, I think) thought was...gone, at least for a while. Would he pick it up because he thought he might get rewarded later? That seems the only logical reason that Peter would do something like that to me.
Also, where would he have hidden it while he was being Scabbers? He must have gone to some kind of pet shop or something before he went to the Weasleys, unless they just found him. Where would he have kept it all this time? Might he have hidden it?
Another thing--according to Hagrid, Sirius was there after the death of the Potters. If he had noticed Peter, I'm sure he wouldn't have let him go without a fight. But maybe Hagrid and Sirius got there after Peter...?

| I think that Peter was with Voldie, saw him die and thought that he might inherit some power by using the wand of the Dark Lord.
I think that when he saw that Harry had only a small scar he got really scared and ran. He was/is an incredible coward, and it seemed like the baby was more powerful than Voldie. He clamped down on his grip of the wand and fled just before Sirius could arrive on the scene. Possibly forgetting that he had it at all.
Wouldn't it be ironic if the wand was at the Weasley's all those years? |

| Peter must have found the wand. How else would he have gotten it?(since he had the robes for You-know-who and the wand was in the pocket.) |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Laurasia Malfoy Third | Something else to think about... I think that we all agree on the fact that Peter Pettigrew is the one who salvaged the Dark Lord's wand.
In regards to where he kept it for all of that time...Does anyone else remember Lucius Malfoy selling some of his belongings in Nocturn Alley? Remember there was something in his box that he said was specifically NOT for sale, that he simply wanted the shop keeper to hold it for him because of a possible investigation? Perhaps Peter gave the wand to Lucius to hold on to?
Sincerely,
Laurasia Malfoy |

Well, while that's a good theory...
Lucius and most of the other DEs didn't know Voldemort was back in GoF until he already had his new body (he obviously already had his wand). So....? |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Laurasia Malfoy Third | Hello Heron.
Good point. LOL! I guess that I would have to go with the thought that Peter stashed the Dark Lord's robes somewhere & the wand was in the pocket. I'm not too sure that the wand would be in his pocket though, considering that he "died" while using it on Harry. I would think that he had dropped it, not put it back into his pocket. LOL!
Sincerely,

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jennifer Kaye Wilson Sixth | Hello all.
I thought that when he tried to kill Harry he would've just dropped his wand, and then someone would have found it later. It obviously was not one of the "good guys" because then the wand would have been disposed of so it had to be someone loyal to Voldemort. Peter Pettigrew would seem logical because he could snoop around the house and no one would say anything because everyone believed he was a friend of the Potters. But where would he have kept it for 14 years is what I'm wondering. He isn't the most loyal subject, so what stopped him from destroying it or even forgetting about it if he was the one that took it? |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jesse Salonen Seventh Year | I say that it was Peter. Does anyone know where Peter was when he supposedly "died"? I think it was somewhere around Godric's Hollow. Sirius probably saw him pick it up and wouldn't let Peter leave without a fight. |

Crystal Zitsburg Department of Mysteries | like most said Peter or because the wand chooses teh wizard, the wand may dissappear when the wizard does. After all no two wizards can use the same wand (even if it is of the same core etc.) |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jennifer Kaye Wilson Sixth | hmm....good point CrazyMoonyFan. When a wizard dies where does the wand go? Maybe they're buried with it, if they even bury wizards. And since Voldemort didn't really die his wand wouldn't have disappeared so most likely Peter took it, or another Death Eater could've taken it by using an Invisibility cloak, or a spell of some sort. |

I dunno, though. The wand may choose the wizard, but--didn't Ron use a hand-me-down wand or something, before he got his new one? |

| Yeah. Ron had Charlie's old wand. You can use someone elses wand, but it won't work as well as your own. |

| Ummm I dunno what to think. Peter sounds like a good candidate, but where the wand was stored is a good question. Because in POA Peter didn't have a wand to defend himself against Sirius and Lupin. |

| thats true, that totally debunks Peter took it for him. Especially since he was a mouse for years and years, how can a mouse carry a wand undetected. |

| I'd would have to be peter. He would ahe just casually picked it up and put it in his pocket and no one would have said anything because he was supposedly th potters' friend. |

Good point! They would have snapped it the second he went to Azkaban!
Did he have a wand at the end of PoA? Because I can see him having it in OotP, by then at least some people thought he was innocent. So I guess Lupin could have bought him a new one. But in PoA, no one believed him, not even Lupin! So how would he have gotten a wand then? I don't even remember if he had one? |

(I mean, the wand chooses the wizard etc and the wand Lupin would have got would have suited himself... unless he just bought any wand for Sirius, but it may not have worked properly.)
Peter could have kept the wand somewhere specfically. But I doubt he would have just left it somewhere, he would probably tried to have used it. |

Crystal Zitsburg Department of Mysteries | no but Peter became a mouse and so far as i know mouses cannot carry wands, and i am sure the weasly's would have noticied. Anywayz Voldemort was vanquished into spirit like form, so anything he had on him would go with him, like his clothes, they didnt stay. So naturally he would keep hold of his wand etc. |
