Ethan smiled to himself as he walked behind the boy towards the counter. It was almost like one of those Jane Austen novels that his mother insisted he read had come to life and he was thrust directly in the middle of it. Somewhat surreal, but he had to admit he sorta liked the kid. Though he came off a bit pretentious at first, Ethan happened to find him friendly as well, in his own quirky way. "Can't say I've been one to get into Etiquette books myself," he replied with a chuckle, though his mother was able to instill some semblance of decorum in him during his homeschooling. "Good to meet you, too, Chaucer," he added with a smile and brief nod as they approached the counter.

Merlin, this place was busy, the fifteen year old noticed as he glanced around him, wondering how long it would be before they'd get any service. He didn't have to wonder for long, however, as Chaucer spoke right up, asking assistance for both of them. "Yes, something on curse-breaking, please," he nodded in agreement with the boy, simplifying for the clerk in case he needed clarification. And Chaucer's mystery subject turned out to be specialized Herbology... interesting. "Thinking about going for a swim?" he turned and asked Chaucer jokingly as they waited for the shopkeeper, thinking of the Gillyweed found in that region. "No, really, I know there are a lot of magical properties in that area. Fascinating subject, really."

Turning once again to the blonde man behind the counter, he added, "Oh, and the required texts for fifth year students, please." Well, at least for him. While he thought Chaucer was about his age, he couldn't be sure if they were in the same year.

After grabbing all the books needed for her very first year at Hogwarts, Jessie waited patiently at the counter for the shopkeeper to assist her. After glancing around slowly, she noticed a journal. It looked plain, but very nice. Deciding to purchase that also, Jessie grabbed the journal and added it to her growing pile of items.

She had all her needed school books, her new journal, and the Daily Prophet. She hoped she had gotten enough out of her vault to pay for it all.

"15 galleons for the lot." Brett replied. "They're right over there on that table." He added, gesturing towards the large table near the center of the shop.

"Excellent, it'll be 17 galleons and 12 sickles." He requested as he handed her a copy of her customization. "Just remember to bring this form with you when you come by to pick it up. It should be ready in a few days."

"First year books are on that table right over there, with the large sign hanging over it. I would help you gather the books, but.." He gestured at the long queue that waited near the counter. "Diaries are by the front door."

Brett accepted the money, finished writing out the needed information and gave a copy to Serena. "There you are. Have a nice day."

Brett smiled slightly as the young girl decided to take a few books out of the pile she had accumulated. He set the books off to one side, underneath the counter before turning his attention back to the remaining books. 20 galleons...and then 5 other books at 3 galleons each..."35 galleons." He announced.

Sliding off of his stool, Brett moved towards the large book that sat on one end of the desk. He knew that they carried books on curses, but he wasn't entirely certain about the flora from Italy. Perhaps there was brief mention in one of the Herbology books, but a check of the store inventory was in order.

"One moment." He replied as he slowly turned the pages. He finally reached the heading of Plants and perused the listing of books. There weren't many.

"I think your best bet would be Plants Around the World in our Herbology section. Also..." He ran his finger down the page, stopping about halfway down the list. "Flora of Europe and also...The Magnificent Flora Graeca."

"As far books on curses, we have several of those. You can check over at our career area of the shop. There should be some near the Auror subsection and the Healer subsection if you're interesting in breaking curses in regard to those cast by dark wizards or in treating the effects of curses. If you're interested in actual curse-breaking, you'd do best in speaking with one of the curse-breakers employed at Gringotts. I don't believe we have much in the way of teaching the methods they use to break curses."

"If you'd like I can retrieve the books on the Italian flora while you search the books on curses." He offered.

Brett nodded once as the other boy piped up, inquiring about school books. "I'll snag a pack of those when I return with the books on plants." He replied.

Turning to the next person in line, the shopkeeper smiled in welcome. "Hey there. Is that all that you'll be needing? If so, it'll be 17 galleons and 3 sickles."

"Yes, that's all!" Jessie replied happily, pulling out the appropriate amount of money. She found the seventeen galleons quickly, placing them on the counter neatly. It took a little longer to find the sickles. Finally finding them at the very bottom of her bag, she place the three sickles next to the galleons. She then thanked the shopkeeper with a smile and walked out of the store with her schoolbooks in tow.

Finally, something was working out. None of the shops had carried carafes or alembics, the owl emporium held lackluster cages for his poor Black Dandy and the ice cream parlor had - once more - run out of cotton candy flavor. This, right here and now, was a triumph indeed. "THANK you so much, that would be glorious!" He smiled widely and felt tempted to grab the assistant's hand and clutch it in gratitude. Tempted, but not altogether compelled, so he refrained and waited earnestly in place instead. Finally, someone who helps instead of saying 'We don't have that sir', 'Please speak normally sir' or 'Your raven is scaring the owls'.

Alison had already gotten her wand and gotten her robes so she was starting to get a hang of shopping in the wizard world, although the wizard money still confused her a bit. "Hi, I'm Alison. And I'd uh like to buy these books for my first year of Hogwarts. It's 15 Galleons, right Alison said nervously

Louisa walked towards the counter slowly hugging her books tightly and swaying slightly every now and then. They were such a load for an eleven-year-old after all. She threw them on the counter when she made it there safely and breathed deeply. "Hello sir! I'd like to purchase those books." She said pointing at the pile in front of her, "My books for the first year at Hogwarts." She added proudly.

OOC: Do we have to name the books?

It wasn't often that he heard 'glorious' issue forth from someone's mouth, especially one of Hogwartian age. It was enough to make him be slightly taken aback. Well...whatever suits 'em. "No problem. I"ll be back in a few minutes."

He disappeared around a stack of bookshelves, carefully stepping around the many customers in the shop. He retrieved one book and then walked along the back side of the shop near the storage room. He turned down another aisle, stooped, and selected Flora of Europe, carefully extracting it from the books on either side.

One more. He shuffled towards his left as he scanned the shelves. Ah. There it is. Holding the books securely, he walked back towards the counter. He set the books down, and went off to select a package of fifth year books.

Once finished, he waited near the counter for the return of the boys with the books on curses.

"Yes, indeed, 15 galleons." Brett replied with a smile, catching the hitch in the girl's voice as she spoke. "Is that all you'll be needing?"

OOC: Nope.

Brett slid the books into a bag and lifted it to the counter. "15 galleons, please." With a quick tap of his wand, he lightened the weight so that it would be easier to carry. "You'll enjoy Hogwarts, great school."

"Yes I think that's it. Thank you very much, Sir" Alison replied. She liked this guy he was nice. She just hoped that the kids at Hogwarts would be as friendly. She took out her wallet and counted 15 galleons. And then she was off again, but this time to buy some robes.

K-Lee handed the money over, accepting the form given to her. "Thankyou." She said to the shopkeeper, walking out of the shop, form safely in her handbag.

After Feenella finally found all of her books and thanked the shop keeper for the help, she went to the counter and payed for all her stuff.
"15 Gallons for all those books?WOW!", Feenella said.

After browsing around the bookshelves, Riley went up to the counter to pay his third year books and a copy of Daily Prophet.."Hello sir, I'd like to pay these" he said putting all his stuff in the counter so the shopkeeper could see them

Louisa was mesmerized with the shopkeeper's charm. She grabbed the bad and amazingly it was not as heavy as before. It took her a few seconds to recover from amazement, eventually she took a handful of galleons from her pocket and counted fifteen. "Here you go, sir. And thank you!" She said putting the money on the counter and headed for the door.

steph needed these books for her 5th year at school so she strolled up to the counter with her arms full off books "How much would this be please?"

Brett chuckled as the girl exclaimed over the price of the books. "Indeed." He accepted the money and slid it into the till. "Have a great day."

"Sure thing." Brett opened a bag and slid the package of third year books into the bag and set the Prophet neatly on top. "15 galleons and 3 sickles, please."

Noting the lot of school books, Brett promptly replied. "15 galleons please." He reached forward to take the heavy stack from her, set it on the counter, and starting packing them into a bag.

Lila walked up to the counter and laid down a huge stack of books. "I've got this years school books, a dictionary, and set of encyclopedias here," she said almost out of breath. She took a long deep breathe in to alleviate the problem.

Ruby walked into the bookstore and smiled. She absolutely loved to read! Her book list for first years looked extensive and she wondered if she'd have enough money on her to pay for everything she needed and wanted. She walked up to the counter, said "one set of first year school books, a journal, and a dictionary, please."

Stepping up to the counter with the books he needed for his fourth year, JD places them on the counter. Looking around he notices a few younger students waiting as well. Smiling at them he turns back and watches the busy shopkeeper, while waiting his turn.

Alice walked over to the table picked up the stack of books and returned back to the counter. She pulled out a small bag from her jacket pocket which contained the money her mother had given her to buy supplies. "15 galleons," she repeated as she handed the man the money to purchase the books.

Brett's brow crinkled in concern at the breathless reporting of the books that needed to be purchased. He was about to suggest a deep breath when she did so on her own. Smiling slightly now, he began to bag the books. "37 galleons and 10 sickles, please."

"Journals are by the front of the shop. If you'd grab whatever color you'd like, I'll get the school books and dictionary." He offered as he stepped from behind the counter.

Next in line was a young boy who appeared around 14 or 15 years old. "Hey there. Is that all you'll be needing?" Brett asked.

"3 galleons and 10 sickles." The shopkeeper answered. "I need your name and what would you like to customize your diary with? Just your name? If so, any particular color? Are you going to pick it up here or do you wish for it to be delivered at Hogwarts?"

"Thank you very much." Brett replied as he accepted the money and handed her a bag. "Have a nice day."
