I dno, changing into a completely different person would seem to be to much power given to anyone at birth. I think that her basic form has to stay the same, and I don't think she would be able to changer her height or muscles or anything like that, she would be to powerfull, she could turn herself into the body of a giant or pretty much anything she wanted.

I think she can change into anyone as somewhere in one of the books it says something about her having to remain in one form for work so Mad-Eye and the fellow Aurors know who she is.
I've always wondered how she came to be a metamorphmagus in the first place though!

I suppose she can becasue she can totally change her apperance so why not change it to the same as someont else?

I pretty sure that she can change ANY aspect of her appearance. Now wouldn't that be a nice gift to possess?! :-) Especially as we get older and our appearance changes on its own (& not always in a good way)

maybe she can change so she can kinda look like a person but i dont think she can actually change into a person.

i think Tonks can change into another person, but only the physical aspect. Just like the way she can do the pig snout, maybe she can copy another person's appearance too.

Tonks is able to chane the appearence of any part of her body, she can change her weight, her mucelyness, anything. I am not sure if she can change her gender, and i'm sure there are limits to whether or not she can change into another person, but when it comes to disguise she is the best she can change her look to make herself un recognizeable. However i'm pretty sure the one flaw in that is her voice seeing as metamorphmagi can only shange there appearence not their voice.

I don't know much about Metamorphmagic ability, but I don't see how she couldn't make herself look like another person, if she wanted to. I mean, she can change her hair color and her nose shape, so why not any other part of her face or body? It does make sense that she'd be able to. Besides, I think it was in OOTP that she tells Harry that she got top marks in disguises in her Auror training.

Amazingly great questions, I have a view on this. I don't think her powers go further than, changing characteristics (like, height, weight and hair and eye colour, that sort of thing). Other there wouldn't have been any point in including it as polyjuice potion and anamiguses.

As we find out later in the series she can indeed change herself to look like other people. She changes herself to look like a little old lady or was it a little old man.... Anyway. Yeah, she changes completely. Height, weight, facial features, hair.

I think she could change herself to look like someone else if she really tried to. She could certainly make herself look different, I'm sure if she tried to imitate someone else's looks she could do it.

I think that tonks can change her full appearance at will. Because I remember in the 5th book when Sirius (as his dog form), mad eye, and tonks where seeing him off on the train to hogwarts, and I remember tonks was in disguise.

So I think that tonks can change it at will. Or she used polyjuice potion. But what would be the point. Mad eye didn't change his appearence, and he would definatley get recognised by a lot of people.
