I think that's used a lot in writing, making people have similar attributes to the previous generation, to foreshadow relationships and that. But Ginny & Lily do look similar, as do Hermione & Molly, and I think that may have been intentional. Their personalities are similar too, so it's definitely not a coincidence. We ARE talking about J.K. here!

Have actually read in an interview that our queen Rowling did intentionally write so that both James and Harry fell in love with readheads

I agree with you one houndred percent! I always wondered if it was Harry's internal longing for his mother that made him fall in love with Ginny because she looked so much like Lily. -shrugs-

I can definitely see similarities in both looks and personality (as far as we know) between the two. They're both redheads who are caring and not afraid to stand up to people who are doing something wrong.

That's kind of the same thing, just the guy loving someone who resembles their mother.
It's actually very cute that Ginny resembles Lily, I think J.K ROwling did an awesome job matches those too up, as well as Hermione and Molly.

There are similarities like appearance and personality. Thats why you see in fanfics a lot of the time where Marauders meet Golden Trio, that the comment 'Potter's always go for the red heads' comes up.

Though personally, I believe that Ron and Hermione are more like James and Lily. Both James and Ron come from pureblood families who marry a muggleborn. Lily and Hermione are both smart and achieve well in classes. Both pairings got together in 7th year/when it would have been 7th year.

That would put an interesting perspective on things, I like your take on that. I for one think that that is a possibility Good thinking

Besides the hair they don't look that much alike, and as far as the personality traits go, they're also Gryffindor traits and they were both Gryffindors.

Yeah, that's kind of something I've always thought about. Lily was a popular student, pretty and ginger and all that, and so was Ginny. However, I don't think it goes much beyond that - it's not like Harry really KNEW his mum, so he wasn't looking for a girl with the same personality traits (although he knew his mother was strong, and so is Ginny). I think more of it has to do with the simple fact that Ginny is his friend. He knows her very well, and she has always been there throughout his rough times. And she's hot. So that's that!

I totally agree. Both Harry and his dad married redheads! Other than that I see what you mean. She has a very close personality as her too.

Yes i agree there and i also think they have cutess to them to also they both are kinda the same height too, if you guys seen the movie you can see alot lily in ginny in a way.

I think the biggest similarity between them is their looks and their bravery. They both defended those who were weak and they were independent. I think Ginny reminded him of his mother and that that's part of the reason why Harry fell in love with Ginny.
