Yes she is... But there are a lot of other brilliant writers out there but I think she's the best!

She is an amazing writer. Even my mom was impressed! But "Lord of the Rings" or Tolkien is (of course) way better!
And when I was about 10 I loved Enid Blyton!

JK is awesome, but O'Henry and Ray Bradbury are my favorite authors. I am also in love with Sylvia Plath's poetry. But like I said, JK is a great writer, and I obviously love her series (why else would I be on SS so often)!

Yeah...no, JK isn't my favourite either. I think she did a wonderful job with HP and with creating such a twisted plot.. She's a genius for drawing audiences of all ages to her story...but she's still not my favorite.
I've read so many excellent books I don't have a favorite, but I really like Catherine Jinks (Australian author, she wrote the Pagan's Crusade series), Susan Cooper (The Dark is Rising series), Madeleine L'Engle (A Wrinkle in Time series)... and the guy who wrote Lord of the Flies (William Golding...?). Most of them are my childhood favorites. I haven't had time to read much lately (except HP of course ).

She's definitely one of my favorite authors, but I'd like to see something other than Harry Potter from her. Don't get me wrong, the Harry Potter books are great (I wouldn't be here if I didn't think so), but I'd just like to see something else before I say she's my absolute favorite.
Yes, I would love her to write something else after the 7th book, something entirely different, that would be great.

I don't really have a favourite author as such because I read many books, all different too, I've ready fantasy (obviously), romance, crime etc... But JK is the only author I have read 5 books from so I have to say that she is my fave I guess.

I"ve never read Stephen King, but I heard a lot about his work. it seems very interesting.
Anyway, like I said, it is nearly impossible tochoose a favorite author, but has anyone ever read Torey Hayden? She write fiction and non-fiction, though I've only read her non-fiction so far. She is now a resident of Wales, but she used to teach the emotionally disturbed in 5 states in the U.S. Fascinating subject...

Don't get me wrong-I love J.K.R.-I love fantasy, but sometimes fantasy is hard for me to read. I'm a "systemizer" so it took me a wile before I actually got to read it. However, I did very much want to read it and when I did, I discovered that she has a unique way of weaving a fantasy. She uses lots of myths, language roots, things from present-day surroundings, etc. but uses some real human elements. For example, she places a lot of logic within her magic, i.e. arithmancy=arithmetic with magical overtones. Alchemy was also a long studied art, magic, and science.
Alright, I've said enough for now.

JKR is definitely my favorite author. Then I have a bunch of authors tied in second place--Lemony Snicket, Louis Sachar (Holes), whoever wrote The Phantom Tollbooth, whoever wrote Artemis Fowl, and a lot of others I can't think of right now. My least favorites ever are Ursula K. le Guin and J. R. R. Tolkien. I cannot comprehend how anyone could like their works...oh who cares, I like being unusual...
