Poetry and the Half-Blood Prince

Write a poem, any style, in honor of The Half-Blood Prince.
All entries must have a unique title and be fewer than 150 words and make mention of any two or more of the following:

• Spinners End
• Draco's Detour
• Felix Felicis
• a man with 'lion-like' features, spectacles and a limp
• a prophecy
• a prince

How Did This Come to Be?



There is a wizard or witch

Who has a glitch

Who is it a prince perhaps?

He may need wizard maps

There is a prophecy

Which may bring such monstrosity

There is a spectacled lion faced limp-like man

Which might be everyone’s biggest fan

Now Sirius is gone

Voldemort used him like a pawn

Felix Felicis Who is he?

He is not me

What Detour did Draco take?

It is one I did not make

Who is at their Spinner’s End

It Is One Loss I Cant Mend

The Prince and the Potter



Waiting around for the 16th to come
Oh how Rowling can make us feel dumb!
Speculation to who the new Prince will be
And NO, its neither Riddle nor Harry!



Some think its Dean, Harry’s school friend
I wonder what’s to come in Spinner’s End!
Perhaps then we’ll find out the Prince to be
Salazar, Gryffindor, or possibly me!


Severus Snape is also a guess
Though he seems like no Prince, and his hair is a mess
Though JK is known for unforeseen things
Oh what excitement this new book will bring!


Draco’s Detour will be entertaining to read
And more adventure-filled visits to Hogsmeade
Voldemort is back, and ready to kill
Though his power’s no match for Harry’s skill


To the book store I go, 16 days to wait
Book six of Potter is sure to be great!

Definition of the HBP

Has been a secret
After Draco and his Detour
Lieing in the shadows
From Jo's mind.

Born as a prince
Looked at as something else
One person we don't know
One more thing to guess about
Did he die yet?

Probably known
Real, but unseen
Inside the pages he'll come alive
New information to our eyes
Could you know about him?
Everyone knows nothing about him.

Mysteries surround that 16 July
The booksellers rush to supply
Fans want answers, we can hardly wait
For that oh-so-glorious date!

So, who is that gosh darn HBP?
Just who might this prince be?
He looks like a lion, says JKR,
With a limp and spectacles, how bizarre!

And what about that Spinners End?
This I cannot seem to comprehend
A street, a house, a spider’s death?!
I must relax and catch my breath!

Will Draco have a change of heart?
And decide to make a fresh start?
We will have to wait and endure,
To see what happens in Draco’s Detour.

Hints and rumours and spoilers abound!
The long wait for answers just serves to confound!
On July 16, fans will line up, (but not at noon)
To receive our copies by the light of the moon.

A/N: Hmm, yeah I know that ‘endure’ and ‘detour’ don’t exactly rhyme… But if you pronounce them a little bit weird, you can hear a resemblance Kind of like end-ew-er and de-too-er. Ha-ha

The Grand Sixth Book


The time is coming near
When the prophecy will be complete
A boy with glasses and a scar
Must make a Dark Lord suffer defeat

More romance is in the air
Who could Harry's new love be?
Luna, Hermione,
Or maybe Ginny Weasley?

Close to Harry's heart and ours
Yet another will die
When that times comes in the book
We will all indeed cry

We've heard about a prince
A Half-blood is all we know
One thing some are worried about
Is he friend or foe?

Who do you think it could be?

Who do you think it could be?
You know who I mean, the half-blood prince?
Do you think it's just a prophecy?
May be it's just a rumor that has been spread about in The Prophet?
What do you think?
Some drunken old fool writing nonsense on dirty ripped parchment?
May be it is someone that Harry’s deceased parents knew or formerly knew or may be Dumbledore knew he/she?

Could it truly be a prince or a princess?
May be it is a student from Hogwarts?
Or better yet a parent of a student from Hogwarts?
Unfortunately, it could a person or soon to be person with a Dark Mark
Could it possibly be Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?
Could we be yet surprised that it is Harry Potter?

Who could it possibly be?
Someone answer me please?
Can’t wait until Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince comes out!
July 16th remember that and don’t be surprised if the prince or princess is the description that I’ve mentioned above.

On July the sixteenth, the day which we anticipate,
For the answers to our questions, we'll no longer have to wait.
The identity of the Prince will be revealed,
All of the secrets that have been concealed.
And the futures in the prophecy will be set straight.

Reveal a world that is magic and dark
May be a veil, May be a cloak!
There, a story sets up.
Now pay attention to spot the man that’s lion-like
Felicis, could be a man, spell, sign
If we are lucky we might be revealed at last
Who The Prince is before driven nuts

A heart race against time to Spinners End
While romance blooms in a young boy’s heart
Don’t know you but I’ll make the journey last!
A story starts one day at Privet Drive
Following events develop before the eye
It’s the magic of a story about a boy and scar
Patiently count the minutes ‘till have it at grasp

But something I must ask
For us who will have it later on
Do not spoil, please, all these surprises
Let us read comfy in our homes

The HBP has come upon us
JK's torture is no longer

We think and ponder of all the things
such as who is this marvellous prince?

Many theories are about
Dean or Hagrid without a doubt

Dracos Detour and Spinners End
Is what the author had to send

A death is supposed to be
will it be one or two or three

We will have to wait and bite our nails
until july 16th when we can read this tale

(Another brilliant theory: A tribute to the upcoming novel)



Upon a far and ravaged moor,
Trembling in the mud,
Was a Half-Blood Prince, whose robes were stained
With his lifeless brother’s blood.

Though lion-like he was in face,
Though he was Lion’s kin,
All bravery now deserted him,
And left only fear within.

The Dark Lord stood before the Prince –
He’d paid this awful price
For trying once to save the witch
Who’d defied the Dark Lord thrice.

“Kill for me The Boy Who Lives,”
The Dark Lord coldly said,
“And if you don’t, you’ll quickly find
I’ll take your life instead.”

The Half-Blood Prince – what choice had he?
He drew his sword of old
To kill the Boy and so fulfill
What prophecy had told…

…

“With heavy heart, I end this song.
Now, Harry – you must flee.
For behind this limp, these spectacles…
That Half-Blood Prince? That’s me.”

We Shall See
One, two, tree, four and five
Very soon we shall dive
Into what will reveal
If we correctly believe
About the propehcy she made
And the path that it laid
Now a prince will come
Will he be help to some?
Half-blood like the former, he’ll be
But, past or present?
We shall see.
