Hello, all. I've decided, after much deliberation, to share with anyone interested, my attempts at poetry.
I am by no means a great poet, or even a very good one, but I write because I have fun writing them That aside, here's the first one in this thread.

I call it 'Lullaby'. Sang myself to sleep with it last night....

Scare those Boggarts away
And close those tired eyes.
It's the end to another day-
Tomorrow holds a new surprise.

The Doxys can't get you,
No Dementor would dare
come so much as near you
As long as I'm there.

So, go off to sleep, and dont worry.
Drift off to dreamland -
for I'll watch over you more closely
than a Patronus can.

Hello, all. Sorry for the late update - been having problems with the cable, plus I didn't know if the thread was displayed yet or not

Today's update - non HP. This one doesn't have a title. It emerged from a long chat with a friend about everything and nothing, about two years ago. Yes, so it rhymes, and doesn't run smooth, but I might work that through later, because it still says what I want to say, only doesn't express it just the right way :/

When I'm gone,
bury me under a tree,
with the free sky and the rain on the grass above me.

Somewhere 'neath broad boughs
in a wide wilderness
so I know that I nurture even in death.

Imagine my surprise when a few months ago I discovered this poem by Robert Louis Stevenson - his self-written epitaph.
Quote:

Under the wide and starry sky,
Dig the grave and let me lie.
Glad did I live, and gladly die--
I laid me down with a will.

This be the verse you grave for me,
'Here he lies where he longs to be.
Home is the sailor, home from the sea,
And the hunter home from the hill.'

There's a man after my own heart

Thank you very much, Callowynne, although I can hear my lady Muse giggling over my shoulder. She's an unreliable sort, and only stays around to have some fun at my expense, and rarely bestows anything of value. All in good spirits...

Here's another Tree poem - first poem I remember writing. I was 10, hehe.

The Tree
From where I sit, I see a tree,
The biggest I've seen 'till now,
With golden rays of sun on top,
Deep green 'neath every bough.

The creepers climb up it
With pink-and-white flowers,
With leaves that are masses
Of green-golden stars.

A strong breeze is blowing.
The whole tree sways,
And the fog around it
Slowly strays.

*takes a bow*
*ducks tomato.*

Next on the timeline was 'Babbage Cabbage'. Written - grade 7, after my first Computer Literacy class.

Babbage Cabbage
Charles Babbage
Lov'd his cabbage,
'Cause it was so crispy and green,
And HE was the one,who gave humans
The computer machine.

Charles Babbage
So loved his cabbage,
He ALWAYS had it for tea,
And had it for lunch and dinner besides,
(Well, that's how it seemed to be.)

Charles Babbage,
Devoted to cabbage,
Quoth on the eve of his demise,
That his grave should be covered with colourful flowers,
And bordered with cabbage supplies!

*it's meant to be read in a funny accent, accompanied by animated gestures acting the events out.... :whisle: *

*takes a bow.*
