Half Mast

Where were you
On that September day
When our sense of safety
Was stolen away?

Were you at home with your kids
Were you talking to your friend
What were you doing
When the world seemed to end?

Did you cry when you saw
The buildings fall to the ground?
Did tears run down your face
For the ones they never found?

Or did you sit there in shock
Staring at the TV screen
Wondering how someone could do this?
Why would they be so mean?

There were signs everywhere
Of the tradgey that had passed
Memorials for the dead
Flags standing at half mast.

Our country survived that time
And we still stand strong today
Our pride is stronger than ever
God bless the USA.

I can’t say what I want

Though my need is dire

But if you look into my eyes

You might see what I desire.

Without the fear

And someone to say

Immortality



Long has this place been empty

These God forsaken lands

That decayed so fast at

Time’s ever moving sands.



The meadows have dried brown

The rivers have run dry

The soil has gone gray

The birds no longer fly.



The ground has broken

All life has died

Where once was a forest

Is now open and wide.



The weather never changes

The sky is always gray

Never any wind or rain

Never night but never day.



It stretches on forever

There no beginning, there’s no end

A barren immortal plane

I alone am left to fend.



As I lay here on the ground

I know its pointless to cry

I don’t think I’ve ever wished

So hard that I could die.

I wrote this for my friend after her cat died unexpectedly. I know it's sort of bad, but she wanted it overnight so she could read it at her "mini funeral" for the cat.

Little sister, I cared about you so much,


Though we’d bicker and we’d fight,


Even when I was angry with you,


I’d make sure you were all right.

Our relationship was a journey,


That we helped each other through.

Hello all! I positively floored by the number of responses I got- though I don't know how many other people have gotten. I should probably go and check out other people's poetry after this. Anyway, I'm still grounded. But I'm not a bad person, I'm really not. I litterally get grounded every time I don't recieve straight A's on my report card, and this year I have a Language Arts teacher who has a problem. You all can see that I'm not bad at Language Arts (well, for a 14 year old), but she still gives me bad grades. But do my parents believe me? Noooooo. Anyway, I"m done ranting. Here you are:

Whew. Quite repetitive, but I had just gotten over a huge fight with my parents, and was really upset. I snuck out of the house and just biked over my friends house and sobbed. And you probably don't even care. Moving on.

More of a religious one. My parents are very devout Catholics, and my one friend is a Wiccan. I'm more attracted to Wicca than Catholicism, and many of the RC church's views I am strongly against. But unfortunately, I'm still 14 and unable to do much with my parents there. Alright, shutting up.

Rejects

When God made me
Was I a defect?
Did he toss me away
Like I was a reject?

Maybe I'm the mistake
The one that wasn't supposed to be
Meant to be locked away
But somehow I got free.

Now Earth is cursed

I really likeHey God I there with you, and I'm sure you know this but there are support groups here, people there love to help others. I find the support groups uplifting and they help me out alot.
