My names Niky, and this is my first FF so bare with me!

Summary: Mainly the story is about Ginny’s feelings for Harry starting at Ginny’s 4th year. It’s more about how Ginny feels about him, even though she’s dating Dean Thomas. So she feels she’s just ‘Ron’s little sister’ to Harry, but wants to show him she’s so much more. Enjoy!

Ginny walked into the Griffindor common rooms. It was a pretty cold January evening, she took off her jacket and sat beside the fire.

She hadn’t slept in days, with so much on her mind, and with her brother Ron pestering her about the guys she was with. She looked into the flames, and even though she was with someone at the moment, she couldn’t help but think of someone else.

Harry Potter, her brother’s friend, the legend, her hero. There was nothing that compared to the way she felt about him, every passing day she felt a stronger bonding with him than the day before. Over the years she and Harry had become good friends, almost as brother and sister. She hated that relationship, Harry was so much more to her than just a brother. He was her reason to wake up each morning.

She only felt pain to know he woke up each day only to see the Ravenclaw girl Cho Chang. He had fallen for her, because Ginny was only ‘Ron’s little sister’. She despised that tittle. She was so much more than ‘a little sister’, she could fight and she could be anyone who Harry would ever want her to be; she would do anything for him.

She glared into the flames silently, only thinking of him and how she would never be with him. She jumped as she heard a familiar voice behind her.

“Are you okay Ginny? I’ve been looking for you everywhere” Amanda said as she took the seat beside Ginny. Amanda had light brown hair up to her shoulders and bright green eyes. She was Ginny’s best friend.

“Yeah I’m fine. I’ve just been outside with Dean Thomas, he said he wanted to talk but I think he preferred kissing,” Ginny responded then giggled. She leaned back on the couch and retained herself from getting lost in the fire again.

“Outside?” Amanda asked surprised. “It’s freezing out there! Are you nuts? Oh I get it he kept you warm in his arms, didn’t he? Wink, wink” she added winking in an exaggerated way.

“Leave it alone Am, he is my boyfriend you know” Ginny said smiling. She leaned forward and couldn’t help but to gaze at the fire. Amanda leaned forward too and whispered into Ginny’s ear.

“Harry again right?” she said.

Ginny blushed, Amanda knew each time she would get lost looking into the fire it could only be one thing. She limited herself not to respond; she was with Dean, not Harry.

“I know he’s on your mind. But I don’t get it Ginny! I mean come on, you don’t seem unhappy with Dean, and you never do anything with Harry to show that you care for him. If you want to be with him so much how about just telling him the truth?” Amanda suggested.

“I won’t. He doesn’t want a relationship with me, he wants one with Cho. I’m not going to bug him and daydream about him when he won’t be with me.” Ginny answered. She picked up her jacket and scarf as she headed for the portrait hole, not wanting to hear her friend’s response.

As she made her way down the hallways she felt a lonesome tear role down her cheek.

Ginny walked down the halls alone. She felt slightly ashamed that Amanda had figured out her game. She also felt bad about thinking of Harry when she was Dean’s girlfriend.

She wondered the hallways for long before she realized she should head back to the Common Rooms if she didn’t want to get caught.

She sneaked around as she tried to make her way back, but spotted Mrs. Norris. She quickly ran into the girl’s washroom. She was silent enough not to get caught, but was surprised to hear sobbing in one of the stalls. She looked around; Moaning Myrtle shouldn’t be in this particular washroom.

Ginny listened more carefully, to see if she could make out the voice of the crying girl. She sounded familiar, but Ginny couldn’t figure out who she was; until the girl talked in between tears.

“I miss you so much Cedric..” The girl sobbed.

Immediately Ginny realized the girl was Cho Chang, and she was crying over her past boyfriend. Ginny felt anger, Harry fancied her so much yet she mourned over some other guy.

She left the washroom forgetting about getting caught, she was furious. How could she be crying over Cedric Diggory when she had Harry Potter at her disposal?

She walked in circles around the halls, if she were to go back to the common rooms Amanda would surely ask her why she was so mad.

‘I would give Harry my everything, and he doesn’t notice me the slightest bit. Yet the girl who cries over a dead boy is the one Harry wants? How is this fair?! Ginny thought angrily.

She leaned on one of the stone walls and tried to calm herself. She closed her eyes as she ran her fingers through her ginger-hair. She had Dean, she didn’t need Harry.

No matter how many times she repeated this in her head, she never fully convinced herself. She wanted Harry, he was her life.

Ginny wanted to prove him all she could do, all she could be to him, all he was to her. But she never found the courage to tell him. She only giggled nervously in his presence, and let her mind go blank when he’d ever look at her.

She leaned her head on the wall, Harry wasn’t hers and it pained her to think so.

She slowly made her way back to the common rooms once more. Fighting in her head over and over about what she could do to impress him.

Hermione, Harry’s friend, ran after Ginny after her Defence Agaisnt the Dark Arts class.

“Does Professor Umbridge teach you as well?” Hermione asked Ginny.

“Hi to you too” Ginny said with a slight smirk. “and yes she does, I hate her.” She added answering Hermione.

“Sorry Ginny, Hi, how are you?” She said laughing. “Anyways, I had this idea a couple of days ago; Since Harry is so gifted in D.A.D.A., me and Ron have been trying to convince Harry to teach us. Professor Umbridge never teaches a thing and while—Voldemort is on the loose we need protection.”

Ginny nodded. “So then Harry is going to teach the classes? I highly doubt ‘ the Hogwarts High Inquisitor’ would allow it.” she said with a tiny giggle.

Hermione smiled, “Well of course she wouldn’t allow it. But we are meeting at Hog’s Head this weekend. It’s this tavern just off High Street in Hogsmeade. We want to discuss how many people we can get, and what Harry can teach us” she finished

Ginny didn’t have to think about it too much. “Can I bring Amanda and Dean with me?” She asked Hermione.

“Yes, all the people you can.” Hermione answered smiling.

Ginny made her way to Hogsmeade quite proudly. She had brought a fair amount of people for this first meeting.

She smiled happily thinking about having Harry as a teacher, she could really demonstrate her skill. She even thought about her Bat-Bogey Hex, so well known by her brothers Fred and George.

This could be her chance to display who she really was, and prove to everyone she could really do anything they asked.

She smiled proudly as she entered the pub. She looked around slightly disgusted at the place; but soon spotted Hermione, Ron and Harry.

She took a seat in front of Harry and Dean followed her. Not much later other people started to come in and join the table. Ginny noticed Cho Chang had also come; and felt a slight change in her mood.

Harry got up, and tried to make a speech. One of the kids Ginny knew as Terry Boot interrupted; “did you kill a basilisk with that sword in Dumbledore's office?" demanded Terry. "That's what one of the portraits on the wall told me when I was in there last year."

“This isn’t the place or time to discuss that” Hermione shot back. Ginny giggled unknowingly and Terry stayed quiet, as the meeting continued.

Harry, now slightly more nervous, continued speaking. He tried to get suggestions for names and Ginny listened attentively.

Luna mentioned something about ‘Heliopaths’ as Hermione argued such things didn’t exist. Immediately they started arguing. Ginny felt they were getting off track to the reason why they were really there so she had to think fast;

“Hem, hem” said Ginny, in such a good imitation of Professor Umbridge that several people looked around in alarm and then laughed.

As the group got back on track, Cho Chang suggested a name;

“How about Defense Association? We could call ourselves D.A. and no one would know what we are talking about.” She said slightly blushing at Harry.

Ginny rolled her eyes at Cho, but quickly shot back. “How about we keep the D.A. part, but we make it stand for Dumbledore’s Army? After all that’s exactly what the ministry is afraid off.” She said

Everyone agreed with Ginny. Harry’s smiled at her, which made Ginny feel better than she had ever before. She smiled back as she tuned herself out and daydreamed.

She almost forced herself to get back down to earth. She was sitting right beside her boyfriend and she was dreaming about some one else. Her cheeks turned a light shade of pink.

Hermione passed a piece of parchment around with the name Dumbledore’s Army written at the top middle.

She smiled as she wrote down her name in the paper. She was going to prove to everyone she could really do this, she could be the perfect person for Harry. For his assistance, that is.

Ginny smirked as she observed Harry reading over the names; this was her chance.
