Tom's Surprise

“I’ve got it!” whispered Tom. He quickly left the library and went to the girls’ bathroom on the second floor. He checked that nobody was in there, and searched the sinks looking for anything signaling the secret entrance. Finally, Tom found a sink with a snake etched into the tap.

“Open up!” Tom yelled, after spending ten minutes performing curses on the sink. Only, the yell wasn’t English. The sink slowly moved, revealing a large pipe. The pipe that led into the chamber. “I speak Parseltongue?” mused Tom, voicing his thought aloud. He shrugged and then slid into the tunnel.

*I didn't realize that this went against something said in HBP, and I'm too lazy to change it, lol

An Unforgettable Kiss

“Bring him to me,” hissed Voldemort. Peter looked terrified, but did as he was told. He quickly returned, with Goyle beside him.

“Yes, Master?” asked Goyle, realizing something was wrong. Voldemort turned towards the darkened corner of the room and nodded. A Dementor glided out causing cold to flood the room.

Voldemort turned to Goyle and said, “You’ve messed up one too many times… perhaps your fate will serve as a reminder.” Peter quickly moved away from Goyle as the Dementor came closer. Voldemort laughed a cold, heartless laugh as Goyle lost his soul. As Goyle received an unforgettable kiss.

Everyone Could Use Some Sugar

“Come try it! Come on,” urged Peter, holding out a candy bar.

Voldemort looked at it with disgust, “Dark Lords don’t eat candy, Pettigrew. Surely even you understand this!”

“It’s really good though!” Peter said excitedly, taking a bite out of his candy bar. “Like your own personal paradise!”

“Will you stop pestering me?” asked Voldemort.

“Yes,” he said. Voldemort took the candy and slowly unwrapped it. He brought it to his mouth and took a small bite. He chewed slowly, savoring the taste. “So?” asked Peter.

“I hated it,” declared Voldemort, not wanting to admit his newfound sweet tooth.

Forever Cursed

Voldemort couldn’t believe it. Not only had Dumbledore insisted on using Tom, but he refused him the Defense Against the Dark Arts job.

“How’d it go?” asked Mulciber, breaking into his thoughts.

“They say,” he said slowly, “that good help is hard to find. He refused me, so he shall have a harder time then he could ever have imagined.”

“What do you mean by that?” inquired Rosier, and the others nodded.

Voldemort chose to survey the dingy bar, instead of reply. “We have work to do,” he said suddenly, and then disapparated, leaving the Death Eaters alone and confused.

A Small Detour

“I dare you.”

“I don’t want to,” complained Amy, fear clearly written on her face.

“It’s dangerous,” added Dennis.

“You’re scared. I double dare you. All we’re going to do is explore,” said Tom. Amy and Dennis nodded and walked towards the cliffs. When the reached the edge, they peered down at the sea below.

“You first,” said Tom, his voice powerful; almost threatening. They looked terrified but did as they were told. Tom quickly climbed down after then and within minutes they reached the bottom. Tom then forced them to swim to a small opening. “We’re here,” he announced.

A Diary of Secrets

“Dear Diary, Today is my first day at Hogwarts.” wrote Ginny.

“Hello, I’m Tom Riddle. How’d you come across my diary?” read the ink that came shining back.

“It was mixed in with my books.” replied Ginny.

A few seconds later, the ink returned. “Ah, how was your first day?”

“Well, my brother and Harry crashed the Ford Anglia…”

“Harry Potter?”

“Yes, they crashed into a tree in Dad’s Ford Anglia. The same one they picked Harry up in over the summer. I really like Harry, but he’d never like me. After all, he defeated You-Know-Who?”

“How’s that possible?”

Tom’s Unlikely Decision

Tom looked around the classroom. There were only a few other students, all of whom were being forced to stay. Not Tom, though. Tom chose to stay in History of Magic. Everybody thought he was crazy, but he had his reasons. He wanted to learn as much as he could about the founders, dark wizards of the past, and (most of all) how they gained power. The only class he could learn this in was History of Magic.

“Good afternoon class.”

Tom looked up and grinned. Today was the discussion of the Dark Wizard Grindelwald, who Dumbledore had just defeated.

The Impossible Task

“Bring the boy in now, Bella.” commanded Voldemort. Bellatrix disappeared and returned moments later with Draco and Narcissa.Voldemort ignored Narcissa and said, “You’re father let me down, so it shall be up to you to honor your family. Are you ready to prove yourself?”

Draco looked at his arm, at his Dark Mark, and nodded. “Yes.”

“I need you to get Death Eaters inside Hogwarts.”

“That’s easy,” scoffed Draco.

“And you must kill the headmaster.”

“Kill… kill Dumbledore?” asked Narcissa, terrified.

“Yes.” he hissed, grinning hideously.

“I can do that,” said Draco. Narcissa wept, but said nothing.

“You may leave.”

Different Kind of Warning

“You called, Master?”

“Yes, don’t worry; I won’t keep you here long.” Voldemort looked out the window and added, “I know what day it is. I need you to do something.”

“Anything, Master.”

“I’d like you to visit the Notts… Let them know their mistake wasn’t appreciated,” explained Voldemort. “Go, now. It’s almost time.”

Fenrir nodded and quickly left. Voldemort looked outside after about ten minutes, when the full moon appeared. He watched Fenrir lope off into the forest, having already transformed. Voldemort smiled, knowing Theodore would never be the same again. Not after Fenrir had paid him a visit.

A Unique Type of Therapy

“Tom?” asked Mrs. Cole, knocking on his door. Without waiting, she entered with a man.

“What?”

“I’ve brought somebody… from Switzerland.”

“I don’t want to see him.” Tom interrupted.

“He wants to try something to help you express your emotions.”

“Tom, you need to gather your emotions.” said the man.

“No.”

“Now, I want you to yodel.”

Tom refused. “Do it, Tom,” said Mrs. Cole. Tom glared, hate portrayed on his face, and then he did. He let out the loudest, most horrible yodel that anybody had ever heard.

Tom’s face flushed. “Get out,” he whispered in a deadly voice.

Regrettable

The bell rang, signaling dinner. Tom walked into the dining room and sat by Billy, a boy new to the orphanage.

“Shouldn’t you be wearing one of those?” asked Billy, nodding towards Martha. “A plaid skirt.” He’d been referring to Tom’s unchanged voice.

Tom glared at Billy; he’d make him pay.

“That wasn’t nice, Billy. Tell Tom you’re sorry,” said Mrs. Cole, who’d overheard him.

“Sorry,” muttered Billy, with a hollow voice.

Tom smiled, but didn’t forget. Billy’s rabbit was found hanging from the rafter shortly after.

“You did this!” accused Billy.

“Proved it,” demanded Tom, his voice barely audible.

A Delayed Return

“You’re late.” said a cold voice, as a man Apparated behind him.

“Sorry, Master. I had to remain at my post.”

“At Hogwarts?” questioned Voldemort.

“Yes… Dumbledore still believes me. I had to wait.” replied the man

Voldemort turned now, facing his Death Eater. “Indeed… I admit I am surprised by your loyalty, Severus.”

“I have much to tell you… A lot has happened these past sixteen years. The fool still trusts me… He thinks I’m his spy.” At this, Severus gave a little laugh and Voldemort allowed the corners of his mouth to rise.

“Tell me all you know.”

Interview Overheard

“I need you to do something, Severus.” announced Voldemort.

Severus nodded, “Anything, Master.”

“Tonight at the Hog’s Head, Dumbledore is interviewing somebody for the Divinations job at Hogwarts. She is related to Seer Cassandra Trelawney. It may prove useless, but I want to know what’s said.”

“I’ll be there,” declared Severus.

“Go now… It’s to begin soon. I expect you to report back immediately,” commanded Voldemort.

Severus nodded and left the room. A few hours later he returned. “So?” asked Voldemort.

“There was a prophecy.” he said.

“What did it say?” he questioned.

“It was about you… and a boy.”

New Slytherin

Tom waited in line to be sorted. He’d heard that Slytherin was the best house. He wanted to be in Slytherin. To Tom, the other houses just sounded like houses made up for everybody unworthy of Slytherin.

“Riddle, Tom.”

Tom walked to the front of the Great Hall and sat. The Sorting Hat had barely touched his head when it yelled, “SLYTHERIN!” Tom smirked and walked to his table. He looked for whoever seemed to be most in control.

“I’m Tom,” he said, sitting by the boy.

“I’m Orion… she’s Walburga,” he said, nodding to the girl across from him

Biggest Influence

Tom sat in Defense Against the Dark Arts, watching Professor Merrythought talk about the unforgivable curses. Tom had researched them in his fourth year, so he wasn’t paying attention. Instead, he was noticing how well the students listened to Merrythought. How they were heavily influenced by all the teachers, whether they were aware of it or not.

Tom remembered the influence of teachers when he was getting ready to leave Hogwarts. He wanted to have that same influence.

“Professor Dippet,” asked Tom, in the headmaster’s office.

“Yes, Tom?” asked Armando fondly.

“I have a question I need to ask you.”

*I totally just wrote the entire thing out for DADA before I realized I already had that one...

Surprise Visit

“Tom! What a surprise!” exclaimed Hepzibah.

“Hello, Miss Hepzibah.”

“To what do I owe this pleasure?” asked Hepzibah, sending the house elf for refreshments. “You were just here two days ago!”

“That was business, today’s a visit between friends,” said Tom. Hepzibah blushed deeply. “I wanted to know, though. What else was said about the women with Slytherin’s locket? I’d like to see it again, as well.”

Hepzibah looked at Tom curiously. “I don’t think you should… No, its better that I don’t show you.”

“I will see it,” Tom said, his eyes flashing red.

“Are you alright?”

“Avada Kedavra!”

Suspicious

“Tom, I need to speak with you,” said Dumbledore.

“Yes, Professor,” said Tom, gathering up his books. He had a feeling he knew what this was about.

“As you know, the Chamber of Secrets has been opened,” said Dumbledore. “I trust you know nothing about the culprit?” asked Dumbledore, his gaze piercing.

Tom pretended to be hurt by Dumbledore’s question. “Of course I don’t! I’m a Prefect… I would have told Professor Dippet immediately, sir.”

“Very well,” replied Dumbledore. “You may leave.”

Tom quickly left and went outside. He’d have to be more careful next time he opened the chamber.

Quite the Discovery

Tom was skimming through The Dictionary of the Dark Arts (written by Grindelwald himself) in the Slytherin common room. He was trying, desperately, to find something.

Hand of Glory. Tom liked the idea of it, but it wouldn’t help.

Hangman’s Rope. Tom continued to skim through the dictionary.

Herpo the Foul. He paused a moment to honor the creator of the basilisk, and then continued his search.

Hinkypunks. Creatures couldn’t help him. Not for this, anyways.

Tom continued skimming through the various words until he reached one that made him pause.

Horcrux- A way to hide part of the soul.

*In case you were wondering, the dictionary hasn't been mentioned in the books. You didn't miss anything, lol, I just made it up

Three Tasks of a Different Sort

“You need see to a few things,” instructed Voldemort. “Gibbon, go to the Muggle town of Brockdale… destroy the bridge. Wait until it’s full, though. I want a mass Muggle murder. Yaxley, gather some Giants and take them to the West County. Don’t stop them until you receive my orders. Carrows, you need to see to the murders of Amelia Bones and Emmeline Vance.”

“Yes, Master,” they echoed.

“I’ll personally punish you if something goes wrong. All of you.”

The three Death Eaters paled, but said nothing. They quickly left and went to see that their respective tasks were done.

An Accurate Prediction
“Hello,” said a man, when Tom walked in. “Where are your parents?” he asked, noticing Tom was alone.

“Gone.”

The man paused and said, “I’m Mr. Ollivander. Every wand has a core, Mister…?”

“Riddle.”

Ollivander nodded and continued explaining wands. When he was done, he grabbed a small box and handed it to Tom. “Thirteen and a half inches; yew wood. The core is a phoenix feather.”

Tom took the wand out and gave flicked it. The wand grew warm and green and silver sparks flew out.

“That wand’s very powerful wand… I expect great things from you, Mr. Riddle.”

New Year’s Surprise

Outside snow was falling in a blitz. In the midst it all, there was a girl. She staggered up to the door and knocked hurriedly.

“'ello?” said Margerie, opening the door. She ushered the girl inside, seeing her condition. “What’s your name?”

“Merope,” answered the girl, timidly.

They got Merope situated in a room and she had her child within the hour.

“Name him Tom, after his father… I sure hope he looks like him. And Marvolo, for my father. His surname is to be Riddle.”

Margerie nodded and within another hour, the girl had died, leaving behind a child.

*For Cass, who supplied the first name for Mrs. Cole (Margerie) and is awesome in general

Not much Tom in it, but without this scene, there'd be no Tom.

Fiery Surprise

Tom didn’t like naptime. He just didn’t.

“Time to take you naps!”

Mrs. Cole spoke the words he’d learned to hate. Soon all the other children were settled and sleeping, while Tom laid there and thought.

Suddenly, Mrs. Cole raced into the room yelling, “Get up! Get up!” It appeared as if the stove in the kitchen had burst into flames… and it hadn’t been used all day. “Come on! Get outside now!” she yelled. She ushered the children out front as smoke began seeping through the doorway. It looked like he didn’t have to take a nap after all.

Not a Dream?

“You’re sure this will work, then?” questioned Bellatrix.

“Surely you have heard of his poor Occlumency skills, Bella.” stated Voldemort, looking at his most loyal follower. “Are you questioning my plan?”

Bellatrix shifted uncomfortably. “No…”

Voldemort’s glared momentarily, but he said nothing. A few minutes went by before anyone spoke. “He’s seen the image then? He saw him?” she asked.

“Yes, Bella, he’s seen him. I expect you should get ready in an hour or so. There’s no knowing how fast he’ll react.”

Miles away, an angry boy yelled to his friends, “I’m not having nightmares, I’m not just dreaming!”

The Messenger

A lone owl flew into the room, a small piece of parchment tied to its leg. It landed on a chair and looked around. The owl let out a small hoot, then flew to the far corner of the room. A pale hand, which looked like it hadn’t seen sun in years, reached out. The owl landed on the hand, sticking its leg out so the note could be retrieved.

A twisted grin appeared on Voldemort’s face. His red eyes gleamed as he read the note. He was sure the plan wouldn’t fail.

I’ve arrived. They believe I’m Alastor Moody.
