Wand
I walk into Ollivander’s at my mother’s heel and the owner comes up to us for help. He brings me dozens of wands and leaves my mother and I t o try them while he helps another customer.
I cannot help but notice that the other customer is a girl. I wrinkle my nose and turn away. Ollivander brings two wands for the girl, and she flicks the first. The dead flower on the desk bloomed in red. She smiled triumphantly and stalked out with her new purchase.
I remember her face and hope that I will see her again.

“Happy Valentines, Bellatrix.” He pulls me into a kiss and I fall into his arms. “I love you.” He murmered into her hair.
“Hey, thanks Lestrange, for the chocolates.” A girl called out, breaking the pair apart. She came over and kissed him on the lips. “They were delicious.” She giggled and walked away, popping the last chocolate into her mouth.
Rodolphus bit his lip, “That was weird.” He said, leaning in to kiss her again. She pushes away, “What was that all about?”
“Nothing, Bella. Honestly.”
She growled, “It's Bellatrix. You no good filthy git,” as cold as ice.

I stalk into the Common room and see Rodolphus sitting at a table, finishing his essay. I smile and walk over.
“Hey, Bella.”
“It’s Bellatrix.” I remind him at I sit next to him. He places his hand on my thigh and I slightly tremble at his touch.
“Right, sorry.” He says, his face inches away from mine. He comes in and places his lips on mine but I quickly pull away.
“Rodolphus…I can’t.” I say, shaking.
“Why not? I’ve tried for years to have you, but you resist. What is it, Bella?”
“It’s Bellatrix.” I say quickly, and leave.

We are all lined up outside, by the quidditch pitch with brooms to our sides.
“All we say is up?” I ask, incredulously. The teacher nods.
I shrug. “Up!” I demand of my broom, like it was our house elf. It shot up to hand and I flinched. “Sweet.”
I swing one leg over my broom and urge it forwards. I hear the teacher calling me down, but I just smile triumphantly as I hover in the air, my feet barely off the ground.
“You’re a natural.” The teacher told me and I grinned. I always was, I’m a Black.

“Hey, mate.” Rodolphus said to Regulus after class. “Who’s that girl there?” He asks, pointing to a tall, leggy girl with long black hair.
Reg smiled. “Bellatrix Black. She’s my cousin.” He said. “Why, you after her?”He asked, changing his tone.
“Well, erm…only if it’s okay with you…”
Regulus growled, “She’s like a sister to me, Rodolphus.”
“I know, I know. I get that…but…just look at her. She’s beautiful.”
Regulus squeezed his eyes shut, “God, she’s my cousin!” He cried out. “Just…don’t hurt her. Or you’ll have me to answer.” He warned.
Rodolphus nodded and mouthed her name with desire.

I stir my potion carelessly, and watch it turn a dark red. I smile as the teacher comes by and awards me with an O. “Perfect.” He tells me. “You should tutor Lestrange over here.” He tells me. I wrinkle my nose in disgust.
I sigh and turn behind me and Rodolphus smiles at me as he leans back in his chair. I hate it when he does that. I look at his cauldron, the colour was light pink. So wrong.
I quickly add more ingredients and the color changes to a deep red. “Close enough.” I say, turning away.

I sit in Astronomy, waiting to hear who my partner is. “Bellatrix Black and….Rodolphus Lestrange.” The teacher says. I don’t move, only wonder if someone really dislikes me, placing me with him.
“ ‘Lo there, Bella.” Rodolphus says gaily to me.
“It’s Bellatrix.” I correct him. There was something about this boy that really got on my nerves.
I place my eye to the telescope and before I can focus it, Rodolphus pulls it away from me and puts his own eye to it. I pull back, “Hey!” He pulls and it flings from our hands, crashing to the floor.

I walk into Hogsmeade, my gloved hand in Rodolphus’. I smile up at him sweetly and he pulls me into a soft kiss. I pull away and bend down, gathering snow. Our eyes meet and I grin mischievously.
“Don’t you dare, Black!” He says, backing away slowly. I raise my arm, “Don’t, Bella!” I get ready to launch it, “Seriously, Bellatr-”
I fling the snowball from my hand and hit him square in the forehead. He spits snow out of his mouth. “Oh, you’ll get it!”
“Can’t wait!” I say. I make another one and hit him again. And again.

I hear my name called, “Black, Bellatrix”, I stand up, hiding my unease in my strut and sit on the three legged stool. The hat is placed gently on my head and immediately shouts, “Slytherin!” I smirk and step off the stool and make my way to the long table at the far end of the Hall and grin at the cheers and cat-calls. I sit down beside my sister Narissa and cheer for the new Slytherins. Then a boy, Rodolphus Lestrange, sits beside me and he smiles. “Hey.”
I study him, “Hi.” I manage, having temporarily lost my breath.

I sit with Regulus in class and we were told to try and levitate the different items before us. It was easy, they were just the items we had used every year since we started. And this was a challenge?
Reg got his feather no more than five inches off the table and resorted to blowing it upwards from there on. I laugh at his silly attempts and I know he is just doing it to amuse me.
CRASH!!
I look up and see a window broken and a guilty boy, shoulder hunched, laugh nervously. We all burst out laughing.

I groan as the teacher hands back my essay with a big fat T across it. I bang my head against the desk as I was told to rewrite it and hand it in tomorrow.

“How did you do that?” I demand, hating when someone was better at something than me.

I watch as she blocks the spells of other’s and fights back determinedly with pride. She is such a daring girl, one of the few female’s in the Dark Lord’s circle of Death Eaters. She laughs recklessly at the pain of others. She knows what its like to use an Unforgivable Curse. She knows that you have to want to cause harm to the person, to enjoy it. And I swell with pride knowing she’s all mine, that Bellatrix Black, soon to be Lestrange, is mine, and glad I am never on the opposite side of a duel with her.

“Erm.” I quickly find my cat prowling around the den. She quickly pounces towards me when she notices me. I take her in my arms and she presses her nose onto my neck. I giggle and push her towards Rodolphus.
Rodolphus hesitantly pets her and then burst into a fit of sneezes.
“Rodolphus, what’s wrong?” I demand worriedly.
“I’m – allergic!” He manages between sneezes.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
