let's see?it's hermione's turn


Hermione layed back heavily on the chair she resided in.It had been a week since that awful night with Lavender,and the girl hadn't spoken a word to Hermione yet.Lavender had just thrown now trade-marked glares.
Now she preceeded to read her Transfiguration book,barely keeping her concentration.She completely lost it when Ron came parading down the stairs.
"Do you have to walk so loudly?"she asked,irritated.
Ron grinned,the air around him seeming to lighten."Habit."
Hermione snorted."Kill it."
Ron feigned a hurt look and flopped down on the arm of the chair."Habits die hard,Mione."He cast a look down at her transfiguration book."You should know that."he cracked,raising an eyebrow.
With that,he flipped the frayed cover of the book shut and pulled her up."C'mon.Help me practice Quidditch."Hermione smiled and followed him as he ran to the hole leading out of the Common Room.
Little did they know two green eyes watched them,filled with nothing and everything.

Ron welcomed the sunlight gladly.He glanced over at Hermione,who lay on the grass,eyes closed.
He suddenly threw up his arms and spun around in a circle,"I feel like I haven't been outside in a million years!"
Hermione,eyes still closed,muttered,"You haven't lived a million years,dofus."
Ron let his arms drop and plopped down beside the witch,"What is it with you and makin' fun of me lately?"His bottom lip jutted out as Hermione opened one eye.
"Harry,"Her voice was monotone.
"What?Your making fun of me be-"Ron was cut off swiftly by Hermione.
"No.He's behind you."She said,then turned her face up and smiled."Hi,Harry."
Ron turned around and squinted up into the mid-day sun."Hiya,Harry.Catching some rays?"
Harry made an attempt at a snort,stopped,and sat down beside Ron.
"'Bout time I was let out.I think I know what Sirius felt like."His voice was deader than before.
"Hey,"Ron raised his hands,"At least you had a choice."
Harry's eyes met his accusingly,suddenly darker than before."No Ron,I never had a choice."He whispered,then leaned back to talk to Hermione.

Draco watched the famous trio quietly.You could rather say supervised.He didn't want Harry to get hurt more than he always was.
And there it was.The three fell into silence,and if looks could kill,Harry would go to Azkaban for killing Weasley.Harry then leaned over to Granger,and the two engaged in a seemingly harmless conversation,though Draco knew it would later take a turn for the worse.
Draco sighed,then pushed himself from the shadows he now usually lingered in.He took a last look at Harry,then turned towards a crumbling wall,the only one at Hogwarts.Stepping on a dislogded stone,Draco gladly took the admittance to a passageway.
Winding through the curves gave him time to think,and thinking was what he needed.Harry,his honor,his family.The thoughts befuddled him,wrapped him a blanket of confusion so thick that he could no longer see the importance in life anymore.Or he didn't want to.But it didn't not matter anymore.He needed to know where his loyalties lied.And he couldn't figure that out by himself,even though he wanted to.
Unfortuantly for Draco,his friends were not his friends and his enemies were becoming friends.Atleast Longbottom had.And looked what happened to him.
No,there was nobody he could count on.But there was someone he could try to count on.

Hermione glanced at the two boys at her side anxiously as they trudged up to the castle.Harry and Ron had been avoiding conversation with each other ever since Harry came outside.She wasn't even going to try to get them to talk;it hurt enough without their constant chatter.
But what hurt the most was she knew she had no idea.
She was no longer important in this war.She wasn't even a pawn.It was like she had already been obliderated from the chessboard.All that mattered anymore was Harry.Harry this,Harry that.Hermione could never be jealous of him;he was her best friend,but the pity and sorrow she felt for him was so intense it could easily be compared to envy.
Even hate.
In the end,she knew that she hated Harry.Hated what he was inside.Hated the pain he inflicted on others.Hated the most that he didn't mean any of it.
In the end..
Wasn't that what everyone was saying now?In the end,things'll be so different.In the end,life will be better.Say's who?Those who don't even know the peril they are automactically put in simply for being a student at Hogwarts?Those who waltz around,assured lavishly that everything is OK?Those people,people who still had their heads held high,knew nothing.
"Hermione?"Harry said timidly,and Hermione filmy eyes cleared."Yes?Harry?"
"We're here."Ron said from behind,and roughly gestured at the big brass doors they were about to enter.Hermione gave the last smile she had and entered.
