Hey guys, yeah, this is my SECOND drabble thread for Charlie... The first has been moved to the character part of the fanfiction section.

1-herbology- 1984



Charlie stepped out of the castle, onto the grounds. He was going to be late for herbology. He groaned; it was his first year! He was already late for class! He sped through the high grass; he plowed through into the garden. He ran through patches of peach trees, cherry trees, orange trees, and apple trees. Then through the medicinal herbs, flowers, ugly plants that he didn’t know anything about, and then he finally got there.



He burst into the greenhouse, startling Professor Sprout,



“Oh! Good heavens! Charlie Weasley! What are you doing here? You have potions today, not herbology!”

“Ragh! Why do they put us through this?” Charlie Weasley was buried under a large pile of brightly colored pamphlets. It was time for choosing electives.

Bill was streached out on a chair in front of his brother,



“I recon they do it so you can climb toward your future… Or they want you to go insaine… One or the other…” Charlie snorted,



‘Well, I’m defiantly doing Care of Magical Creatures… But what else to do?!”



Bill looked up,



“Why not just close your eyes and pick? That’s how I chose…”



“Very professional, Mister Head-Boy…….. I’ll do odds or evens.”

Charlie walked to the quiddich pitch, one last time. He looked up at the tall goal posts. How many times had he been up there? It seemed that his entire school career was spent playing quiddich, or thinking about quiddich. Yet, here it was; his very last day at school. A tear ran down his cheek, it seemed that he would never play again. There was the offer he got from the England team… But he really didn’t want to peruse Quiddich his WHOLE life… He rubbed the goal post,



“'Bye, old friend…” He walked out, to face the future.

“Ouch! Charlie?” Arthur Weasley coughed from under his new Ford Anglia.



Charlie answered him from the other side of the garage,



“Yeah Dad?”



“Could you please hand me the wench?”



“Ummm, I think you mean ‘wrench,’ Dad….”



“Urhg, argh! Argh, Argh!” Arthur coughed in agreement, his face buried in the exhaust.



“ Yes, the –Arghha!- small ‘wrench’.”



“Dad, I really don’t think this is a good idea… What if Mum finds out you have been… ‘fixing’… this thing…” Charlie handed his father the big wrench, and Arthur took his face away from the exhaust pipe, and slid back under the engine.

Charlie gaped. Bill was getting MARRIED?!

“No… Must have read it wrong…”



Charlie read his brother’s letter once more. Yes, it did say that the big brother that Charlie had always looked up to was getting married. …To a part veela… That was it; he was marrying her because she was of veela descent. But, that begged the question of why on earth she accepted! Bill was pretty good looking, but he wasn’t the veela marrying type!

Charlie rested his elbows on his desk, how much shock can he take in a year? Well, home would be more interesting now.

Charlie guffawed.



“You made it through an entire year of school with your wand in this state?!”



Ron’s ears burned red,



“Well, it’s not like I had much choice!”



“McGonagall must have been frustrated with your lousy work, with a wand like that…” Fred came strutting into the room,



“Ha! McGonagall is frustrated with Ron’s work, even without a bum wand!” He sat beside his brothers and put his feet on the kitched table as Ron glared.



“Like you are any better…” He muttered desperately.



“Char, can you do something to fix it?”



“Sorry, Bro, it’s busted.”



Charlie smiled ruefully.

“No flaggin’ the dragons! No flaggin’ the dragons! No flaggin’ the dragons! No flaggin’ the dragons!”



Charlie paced in a circle in front of the factory. About thirty friends were following his lead, together they protested. Eighteen year-old Charlie Weasley broke out of the circle and pointed his wand at his throat. Soon his voice was booming out to the world.



“Why kill dragons to make things like gloves, shoes, and belts? Don’t we have different ways of making things? Stop the senseless dragon cruelty! No flaggin’ the dragons!!”



He rejoined his friends in the circle, and continued his protest.

“And WHAM! Ahhh, brilliant… I tell you, Bill, it was an amazing game!”

Charlie sighed contentedly. He sat back in his chair and put his hands on the back of his head. Bill, who was sitting, peeling potatoes for their Mother, chuckled.

“I really think that this quiddich is starting to be an obsession!”

“No it’s not! I was just commenting on a match that I saw, that’s all…”

Bill smiled amusedly,

“A match?! Your so-called ‘match’ was just Ginny and ron and the twins fooling around on brooms in the garden!” Charlie lightly punched his brother on the arm.

“Dad, what was muggle studies like?” A glazed expression came over Arthur Weasley’s face.

“A wonderfully fascinating time, I must say. I found the study of eclec… lec… electricity… Yes, that’s it, electricity I found it facinating. The wizarding word just doesn’t appreciate how clever these muggles are! I mean, if we had our magic taken away from us we would most likely be doomed. Yet, they spend their entire lives without it! Absolutely phenomenal.” Arthur sat back in his seat happily. Charlie watched his father as he reminisced his time in this Hogwarts class, and decided to try it.

“Please take your seats, class.” Professor McGonagall said briskly to her classroom drawing her wand.

“Wands and books out please.”

Charlie smiled. He loved practical lessons. Theory was incredibly boring. He bent over to get his bag. However, as his hand brushed the shoulder strap of the bag, he glanced up to find that there was a group of girls at the next table. They were looking fondly at him, one chewing on her quill, apparently entranced. One, the blond one, mouthed the words ‘great match yesterday.’ Charlie’s face turned a delicate shade of red as he grabbed his book.

Charlie was relaxed, dozing in a squashy old armchair in front of the common room fire, when his brother stormed in through the portrait hole. Bill dropped his heavy book bag onto his brother, and flung himself onto the couch.

“Owch, Bill! This thing weighs a ton! It belongs on the floor, not on me!”

Bill closed his eyes as he reclined on the sofa, his head on the armrest.

“Ahhhh, how would you like to carry it around all day! Seriously, Char, my arm feels like it is going to fall off! And Ancient Runes was a complete nightmare…”

“Can you see them?”
“Uhhhhmmmmm…. Yes!”
“Oh, brilliant! Who did they get?”
“Er, It’s hard to tell…. Hang on a sec… Oh, aha! It looks like—“

But suddenly, Charlie and his friend were interrupted by the sharp voice of the astronomy professor. She had snuck up behind them unnoticed.

“Ahem! Well, well, well… Boys, maybe you didn’t hear me properly; we are trying to find the position of Jupiter, not to find out who got the new position on the Slytherin quiddich team while they practice!”

Charlie looked guiltily at his friend and re-positioned his telescope to the sky.

“Psst! Hey Weasley! Weasley, how ‘bout a bet? I bet ten galleons that you bite it big time tomorrow… Oh, never mind; you couldn’t pay me anyway!”

Charlie rolled his eyes. Slytherins were such pains, when would they finally accept that he, Charlie Weasley, could beat their entire quiddich team on his own… with no broom even.
He continued to pay attention to the Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson, and ignored the Slytherins’ whispered taunts. Making a mental note to really rub their faces in it when he kicked their butts tomorrow. And kick their butts he did; easily.

“What’s the matter, Perce? You look kind of… ready to explode…”
Percy Weasley looked up at his older brother, he looked about to lash out at any time.

“Oh nothing! Nothing at all, except that I’m trying to get my summer work done, and everyone is trying to distract me!” From across the room, Fred flicked a parchment fragment that had been folded into a triangle right at Percy’s head. Percy jumped out of his chair, his divination homework went flying. Charlie tackled his angry brother to the ground.
“Woah, let’s try not to kill any of the family, please…”

Charlie inhaled. He was feeling pretty good about this potion. He poked the surface of the liquid and grey steam issued. He sighed, satisfied, and sat back in his chair he started to look around the room. All of a sudden, his potion turned violent green.

“What?!” Charlie jumped up to examine his once perfect drought. He picked up his wand and peered into his cauldron. A chunk of wood, that looked like it came off of one of the tables in the classroom, floated to the top innocently. Charlie looked around to see the Slytherin keeper grin at him.

Charlie yawned lazily. He glanced over at Bill, who also yawned. Ahhh, summer break…. Charlie then looked the other way to see Percy. He was fervently flipping through a large tome, and mouthing words as he read.

“Peeeeeeeeeeeerce…. Whut’re you doing? You can’t read on summer break, it’s against the kid-code…” Percy looked up innocently,

“I’m just skimming… It’s my first year of school, after all…” Charlie rolled his eyes at Bill.

“Perce, you aren’t reading Hogwarts, A History… Are you?” Percy spoke defiantly,

“What if I am?”

“Well then, everyone at school will make fun of you… Just sayin’…”

Charlie looked around the dorm fondly; he finally had a place to himself! Back at home he shared his room with Bill, but here, he was all alone… Except for the four others that slept there also… But at least they were not family, and they might become good friends… Charlie sat on his bed, this was so cool! He was finally at school! Finally he would be able to use magic! Finally he could brag and boast, like Bill! He flopped back onto his pillow and sighed. He heard the door open, and got up to meet his room-mates.

“Ow!”
“Move it!”
“Ugh, what kind of idiot would make something this small to take people places?”
“Muggles…..”
“Oh yeah…”

Charlie elbowed his brother, Ron, in the ribs accidentally as Percy stuck his wand into Charlie’s right eye. Charlie howled in pain.

“Sorry Char! But there’s not enough room to swing a kneazle in here!”
“Ow! Ow! Your stepping on my foot now!”
“Sorry!”
“Has anyone seen Ginny?”
Charlie vaguely saw Bill looking around for their little sister.
“Oh my God! We must have left her back at the burrow!”
“We have to go back!”

Charlie rolled his sore eyes.

Charlie packed away his telescope, put his books in his bag, and folded his star chart. He stumbled down the spiral staircase leading to the astronomy tower, and walked blindly to the common room. Bill was already asleep in his dorm, so Charlie was on his own. Charlie was so tired, he could barely see straight. Instead of going all the way up the stairs, he plopped right down on one of the squashy couches and he closed his weary eyes. O.W.L.s were nightmarish… He didn’t know how he could get up on time tomorrow… He had early morning Potions…
