20. Knitting Charm
Helga Hufflepuff sighed with content and kicked off her rather worn yellow slippers. Rowena was always badgering her to wear the fashionable, uncomfortable heels of today but Helga knew her poor aching feet wouldn’t be able to take that. No – she much preferred her comfortable old slippers, as unfashionable as they were.
Yawning Helga pushed her blonde hair away from her face and reminisced on all the lovely events that had taken place. Finding and befriending Salzar, Godric and Rowena. Then building this magnificent school with them. Finally teaching the youngsters who wanted so eagerly to learn the arts of magic. Why it was like a dream come true to Helga.
Deciding it was still a bit early to go to bed; Helga brandished her wand and with one swift motion had performed a knitting charm that bewitched her needles to knit on their own. She then took up her own needles and listened to the steady click, clack of the bright silver sticks clanking together. | |

Godric Gryffindor stared out at the rising golden sun. The sky was a pleasant mixture of lavender, gold, a light pink and a baby blue. Godric breathed in the fresh air with one large breathe. He felt his stomach flip-flop and knew today was the day. He’d been longing and dreading this day for the longest time. Happiness, excitement and anxiety filled him within but he knew his heart to be leaping for joy – it was more than his stomach could say.
Donning his long, silken blood red robes Godric examined himself in the mirror. He quickly slipped his treasured sword to the space for it around his waist and seized his wand with his other hand.
He hesitated at the door before turning around and saying quietly. “Accio ring.” A small black velvet box zoomed from his drawers and straight into his outstretched hand. With a smile Godric silently opened his bedroom door and headed down the castle towards the Great Hall.

“NO! Salzar! Please…” The woman on the floor cowered before the green-clad wizard. His wand was held before him, as if wielding it like a sword of some sort. Salzar sneered at the woman in front of him. She was useless to him. She was dirty too. Her parents were factory workers. Factory workers! Salzar cackled cruelly.
The blood of Hogwarts would never be tainted any longer with children of muggle blood. Salzar’s dark emerald eyes glittered as he raised his wand and pointed it at her limp and frail figure.
“Crucio.” He whispered, although in the empty dungeon room the words seemed to echo off the walls. The only sound that drowned them out, though, were the woman’s screams that followed.

Rowena and Godric stumbled into an empty classroom. Godric looked more than slightly flustered but Rowena looked excited – like she’d just run a marathon and won first place.
“I – uhm – I,” Godric fumbled with his wording choice for a few moments, his brown eyes too embarrassed to even look upon Rowena’s fair face. After a few minutes of awkward silence he looked up, pleadingly. “Rowena, I lo-,” Godric’s confident words this time were cut off.
“Silencio!” Rowena said, brandishing her wand and staring at him. “Just kiss me.” She told him softly.

Godric stood quietly in the shadows of the Hogwarts grounds. He was waiting patiently for Rowena to finish with her Charms class with the Hufflepuffs. He checked his watch impatiently and sighed. Godric desperately needed to talk with Rowena about their future. Together forever, he thought smiling to himself. Suddenly a steady stream of students exited the castle, headed towards the shimmering blue lake.
Godric held his wand tightly and his brown eyes glinted as he spotted the slender blue-robed figure he’d been seeking. Stepping out in front of her, Godric muttered, “Orchideous.” And a large bouquet of flowers popped up from the tip of his wand. Rowena’s turned a slight shade of pink as she graciously took the flowers and gave Godric a small peck on the check. | |

10. Engorgio
Helga brushed the blonde curls away from her face as she examined her long rows of magical plants in the greenhouse. Visiting and checking the plants was a daily nighttime activity that Helga cherished. It gave her some peaceful, alone time to do something she loved: care for magical plants.
As she strolled down a line of Helga noticed a small puffapod plant being pushed out of its resources by the two larger puffapods next to it. The poor little one was struggling to survive. Feeling sadness for the little plant Helga pointed her wand directly at it and said clearly, “Engorgio!” and watched as the small puffapod slowly rose to become much larger than any plant surrounding it. Satisfied Helga smiled and continued her greenhouse stroll. | |

“I can’t believe you would do something like this Salzar!” Godric exploded, pacing the room back and forth. Rowena stood silently against the wall, watching Godric and Salzar fight. It seemed like all the heated tension between the two had finally broken.
“I don’t need your permission to do anything I want.” Salzar said coolly, folding his arms across his chest, wand held loosely in his right hand.
“Yes! But a secret chamber, Salzar? With a dangerous monster?! Honestly – this is something that needs to be discussed.” Godric said, obviously loosing patience with his supposed best friend.
Salzar’s emerald green eyes blazed with a violent fury. His grip on his wand tightened. Godric noticed this and withdraw his own wand.
Rowena saw the two act and before either could take action she pointed her wand swiftly between the two and cried “Protego!” | |
