Yes, sadly there has been some plagarism.

I'm not sure if you all think its a game or not but this is a crime. I'm tired of finding plagarism.

I'm giving you all a chance RIGHT NOW to confess if you have plagarized in an FF.

Not saying your going to get off easy but it would be better to confess forward than to hide in the dark and not tell. WHY? Because if I find you, you will wish you have told me the easier way.

Don't make me hunt you down!

Now, don't be ashamed if you really want to you can PM evlpez.

Also if ANYONE finds out someone is plagarizing please please PM evlpez or a FF mod.

Most fan fics that I have seen plagarized have been posted on fanfiction.net.

Thanks and Regards

Plagerism, is basicly taking material Directly from the books, and not giving credit for it

(for example, if you use JK's characters, at the beginning, to be safe, you should put a statement that those characters belong to her, and note you)

Excatly.

I'm really not all that worried about that because most people do place a disclaimer.

What I'm mainly getting at is some people are posting stories from other websites on Snichseeker that isn't theres and they are claming it to be. Its wrong, and I can't belive its been happening.

Its like taking a book and changing the names of characters or places and saying you wrote it. Thats SO mean and dumb, not fair to the people who did right it. Fan Fiction.net is the best! I have like 3 fics on there and I don't want them taken.!

*sighs* Plagerism are quite popular these days... I remember when someone took one of my stories and posted it on another website saying it was their own. The only thing they changed in it was the author's name and put in some grammer mistakes. At least that person took it off! That I'm grateful for!

Hey! I posted a story I found of fanfiction.net, but I had her permission to post it, and I said it wasn't mine in the first post. Would that still be plagarism?

^If you had the author's permission, and you didn't claim it for yourself, it is most certainly NOT plagiarism.

OMG! I would be really angry if someone stole my story and named it as their own, I don't have a disclaimer either, but I will put one on my fanfic now, thanks for the warning.

I don't like Plagerism butits always something good when it comes to book reports for school :-P lol. But besides that I would not like my hard work taken and someone claiming it to be theirs. This has happened to me before. Not my writing but programs that I have created and they takes days - months to make sometime and when someone is getting credit for that work when I should be I can get pretty mad.

You know, I posted one of my stories on here and posted it on FF.net. So it's not plagarism all the time, it's just the same person publishing their stories in numerious places.

ok, i want to ask something. it is kind of specific, though i won't relax until i learn it. in my story, i used one of JK's lines, but like.. let me give you a quotation: "...Harry said, taking a Ginger Newt from the tartan tin McGonagall was holding."was what i wrote.. i mean, JK used the ginger newt and the tartan tin, but what i was trying to do was to make it feel like it really was a sequel to her books... so is this plagiarism? thank you.

I think it's safe to say that if we're writing about Jo's characters, they're bound to do some of the same things from book to book, fan fic to fan fic. Ron will complain, Hermione will want to be in the library and McGonagall will offer ginger newts from a tartan tin. I think that as long as our stories have the usual disclaimer ("Harry Potter's world and the characters in it don't belong to me, they're J.K. Rowling's. I do not nor will I ever take profit from writing this or any other of my own stories about them.") or something like it, you're safe. If you reproduce any part of Jo's stories as they appear in the books, it's expected that you'd point it out in an author's note, giving her full credit.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Can you elaborate? Are you saying someone's copying your work?

Oh, this is so sad. I hate people who palgarize. They don't have a bit of honesty in them - honestly. This is such a huge offense. I mean, if you can't write your own stuff, why steal others' hardwork??? I would hate if someone plagarized my ff and, being a writer, I know how it would feel. I really hope nothing like this happens in the future and all the plagarists confess and turn over a new leaf.

Plagerizing is taking another person's work and copying as your own. i had that happen at hpfzforums.com once with Harry's Daughters go to Hogwarts. The person was trying to write Harry's Son's go to Hogwarts and the plot was the same and the title was similiar as well the mod there deleted it. I wasn't too happy with the person. Now every fan-fiction I write I must put disclaimer saying: Don't copy off me and that I don't own the Harry Potter characters expect my own that I created for the story. Aslo put the plot is mine and I don't need you copying it my story. I never plagerize stories from the authors. I might look up in the Harry books for refences and resources to help with what to write, but to steal another writer's work that is plain wrong.

I know I've seen very similar things happen too. One person made a story that was a complete rip off of one my friend made, my friends was called 'Rockstars and the life of a Highschool nothing' and it rocked. And the person made the title 'and the life of a highschool something' so it was a complete rip off. Some of the names were the same too!

I don't plagerize either, I have seen brilliant stories be hacked into and shredded apart by plagerizers. But all of my work is my own and I sometimes change my plot ideas halfway through. ADD--inatentive type...ha! I go on and then think wait...lets do something else so they're more me, more random and unique!
