Hogwarts RPG Name: Ottery St. Catchpole Third | Yeah, the problem with moving the non-story posts to the bottom is that they become irrelevant as you can't see the posts they are talking about ... so no ... I don't think BorderCollieGurl01's idea is good. No disrespect intended. It's better to simply remove the posts then and I'm against that so ... By now no one cares what Otty thinks. Just in case you were wondering if I had changed my mind ... |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Aura Devereaux Fourth | Oh I don't mean moving them to the bottom, what I mean is having it so you click 'hide non-story posts' or 'hide reviews' so you get only the story. And unclicking it you can see the story with the reviews and all! |

It would take a lot of super advanced encoding, time and what not to make sure that all non-FF posts were hidden when you clicked the "Hide" buttons, and revealed again when you un-clicked it. I think getting the system to recognize “non-story” and “story” posts would be pretty difficult. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Aura Devereaux Fourth | Very true, all I meant was just clicking above the post so it hides it when you click it. They have something like it on a RP site called 'itsallinyermind' which is pretty good, and it makes it easier to get around the site sometimes. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Ottery St. Catchpole Third | I'm with the blonde ... *slams the gavel* problem solved now let the state deal w/ it Hey, coding is so not my problem so I'm with blonder_than_u. That idea sounds like fun ... *cue for a Mod to say it isn't feasible* but I'm an idea person you practical people figure it out ... but I have to agree that's probably the best, or why not just make the individual posts collapsible, and you collapse one and read the next and so on ... so it won't take up that much room on your page ... think about it, then the other readers who don't want to read non-story posts can just uncollapse those posts by the author ...
I don't see this as being a major issue ... I mean I don't think removing non-story posts is suddenly going to make us into competition for other more popular fanfiction sites ... so ... besides I hate vocal minorities ... except when it's me duh, but that should go without saying. |

| Yeah.. VB doesn't have a hack for that, I don't think. Good idea though. We're tossing around some others, too. Something will be decided soon I think. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Ottery St. Catchpole Third | Keep the Spam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111111 I thought it would be ironic to spam a thread about de-spamming ... consider me duly warned Jan but if you must ... I won't hold it against ya. |

All right. The staff have been talking about this issue, taking into consideration all the suggestions and talk form this thread, and another option has come up (thank you Ozzy) which I feel will be the best.
All threads will have links in the first post to all the story posts. This means that we don't touch anyone's "You're so AWESOME" posts (though we'll still want to take out spam if we can), and we picky readers can just click on through to all the story posts, ignoring the rest.
I'll be posting an announcement this week with instructions, as we'll really be relying pretty heavily on you writers to help us with this. Any readers who wish to compile links for their favorite/prolific writers are welcome to do so. I am always very grateful to members who are willing to help out!
Thanks again for all your help, guys! |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Wylow Graduated | If they are finished then I believe you should remove the comments from other members. It does get kind of annoying when you have to pass three pages before you get to the next story post. I agree that Finished Fanfiction stories should only have posts consisting of the story! |

| Thanks Wylow!
I've just applied the solution we're going with to this story. Feel free to go have a look and tell me what you think. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Garret Crocker Second Year | I like that. It's what Kirstie and I do on our graphics grab bag thread. I suppose if you were to remove posts...you could just remove posts near the end that give the ending of the story away. |

| I've posted an announcement. I'll leave this thread open, in case anyone needs to ask questions about this and doesn't want to PM.

| Yay, you used my story as an example And it's like, my least popular story too (so far, its sequel is starting to beat that...)
I think it's an great idea to have the links to the different chapters. That way if you close the window for the night and open the story again you don't have to worry about which page you were on for reading the chapter, you can just click! |
