Deathly Hallows Ministry of Magic scenes to be filmed in December

In a new interview to promote his UK programme Gavin and Stacey, actor Steffan Rhodhi spoke about his upcoming role as Reg Cattermole in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Also noted in the article is that his sequences in the Ministry of Magic will be shot next month.

Steffan, who has a role in the new Harry Potter movie which he begins filming next month, is now best known for playing Dave – even though his agent advised him against the role.

“My agent said ‘you can’t just keep doing every small part – they will think of you as a bit-part actor.’

Steffan talks about his role in the film.

Steffan is playing Reg Cattermole in the new Harry Potter film and he thinks his two teenage children are “secretly chuffed” with his new role.

“I think they are a bit fed up now of friends coming up to them and going, ‘What’s occurrin’” he laughs, referring to Dave Coaches’ catchphrase.

Then he will move into a London studio to film his scenes for Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part I. His character is from the Magical Maintenance Department and his identity is borrowed by Ron Weasley.

“I’ve not done a huge amount of film in the past,” says the 42-year-old, who has appeared in Ali G Indahouse, Twin Town and the Oscar-nominated Solomon ac Gaenor.

“This is the biggest thing to date.”

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released on November 19, 2010 and July 15, 2011.

Warner Bros has released a few new behind-the-scenes looks at the making of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets. Included in the previews are interviews with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson from not only the sets of the first two films, but Deathly Hallows; producers David Heyman and Mark Radcliffe, along with Chris Columbus explain how the films came together, from initial casting to editing scenes for the features. They can be viewed below.

The first video has a bit of a treat, where Emma Watson, from the set of Deathly Hallows, reads Hermione Granger's introduction in Philosopher's Stone.

UPDATE: Three new clips from Chris Columbus' picture-in-picture commentary of the first two films have been released, as well, and can be seen below.

Imelda Staunton talks Umbridge's return in Deathly Hallows

In a new interview, actress Imelda Staunton spoke about her return as Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and how getting the role has changed her life.

Another role that Staunton is to revive is that of the malicious Dolores Umbridge for the two-part film Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, which is due out next year.

'Now, that is a great role,' she says with relish. 'It was wonderful playing this baddie dressed in pink, and to be able to play her again is a real treat.'

Her first Harry Potter was in 2007. Did it change her life?

'No, not really. I don't get chased down the street by hordes of kids. I still live a very normal life.

'The one good thing is that I get a lot more good scripts coming through my letterbox. Vera Drake raised my profile in one way, and then Harry Potter in another.'

Rade Serbedzija talks Gregorovitch & Deathly Hallows costars

Actor Rade Serbedzija, who was cast as famous wandmaker Gregorovitch, recently spoke about filming scenes for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, as well as meeting costars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Tom Felton. A loose English translation can be read below.

Rade talks about working with Ralph Fiennes; Gregorovitch and Voldemort were seen together in one of Harry's dream sequences, where the Dark Lord killed the wandmaker.

I liked the role and it seems to me that we captured it well. Although for me, no matter how talented the director and actors are in this story, this type of film does not interest me in particular. But it does my daughters, including Lucia, who were excited for me to shoot Harry Potter. Gregorovich's role is quite important because of him in it explains a lot. I have only scenes with Ralph Fiennes, which made me especially happy because he is an amazing actor, and also, somehow, we made friends.

It was really fun for me to meet famous actors like Radcliffe, Grint and Tom Felton, who plays the villain Malfoy, screaming and singing: ' Boris the Blade.' That was my role in the film 'Snatch' by Guy Ritchie.

Tom Felton & Warwick Davis to attend UK Memorabilia fan convention

Actors Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) and Warwick Davis (Flitwick, Griphook), are set to appear at the Memorabilia fan convention n Birmingham, UK, this weekend.

Tom will be at the event all day on Saturday and from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon on Sunday, where he will get the chance to meet and greet fans. Warwick will be in attendance on Saturday only.

Various behind-the-scenes clips and interviews with the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince cast on the sixth film's DVD set have been released. Included amongst them are one-minute drills with Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, Bonnie Wright, and James and Oliver Phelps; various creative looks at the makeup, editing, stunts, costumes and more with the cast; and Tom asking his costars the most random of questions on an array of sets. They can be viewed below.

Tom hosts a segment where he asks his costars about a variety of topics, including their favourite foods, celebrity meetings, and how they'd change the world.

Creating the movie with Dan (edits), Emma (makeup), Rupert (stunts), Evanna (costumes), Bonnie (art), and Oliver, Matt, and Tom (special effects).

Finally, in the one-minute drills, Dan, Rupert, Emma, Bonnie, Tom, and the Phelps twins get 60 seconds to describe their characters from the first to six films. It can be viewed below.

Dan Radcliffe to guest star on The Simpsons (UPDATED)

Actor Daniel Radcliffe is the latest star to lend his voice to the animated US programme The Simpsons. Dan will be spoofing the Twilight series, where he will play:

Edmund, a kid vampire whom Lisa falls for. Alas, Edmund’s father, a.k.a. Dracula, and Homer try to squash the budding romance.

“Daniel was very excited to do The Simpsons,” says Jean, “and we kept trying to ask him for secrets from the upcoming Harry Potter movie until we realized that they were all in the books.”

Dan's episode will air late next year, as part of the series' Halloween special, Treehouse of Horror XXI.

UPDATE: Dan's publicists have confirmed that he already recorded his voice for the show, and that more information on the episode will be released next year.

Road to Hogwarts contest launched to win trip to Wizarding World of Harry Potter

With the release of the Half-Blood Prince DVD in the US and UK nearing, Warner Bros has launched the Road to Hogwarts competition, where fans in the US over the age of 13 can win the chance to see the grand opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Spring 2010.

Fans interested in participating can register here, where they can choose to have one submission or several for the competition. If participants opt for more than one go, they will be taken to the Hogwarts Map to find secrets on the Marauder's Map, which will help earn points.

New activities on the map will be updated each week, so keep checking back for a better chance to win the grand prize. There will be weekly prizes for fans, including the Harry Potter DVDs and numerous memorabilia. More information can be found here.

Jamie Campbell Bower talks teen Tom Riddle role in Half-Blood Prince

Over two years ago, Jamie Campbell Bower mentioned that he had gone up for the role of teen Tom Riddle in Half-Blood Prince (which eventually went to Frank Dillane). Jamie now talks about how he didn't get the role but was invited back to play Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Ar you happy that you snuck in under the wire to be a part of the Harry Potter series at its end?
Yeah, I’m incredibly happy. I went up for a role a few years ago. Didn’t get it. [Director] David Yates called me up…well, I shouldn’t say, “called me up.” His assistant called my agent, who then called me. [Laughs] And they offered it to me and I was more than happy to do it.

Which role had you gone up for before?
I went up for the young Voldemort. Was that the second film or the sixth? Oh, I don’t know. It was a few years ago.

As part of promotion for the release of the Ultimate Collector's editions of Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets, a new video has been released showing producer David Heyman at the first press conference in 2000 reading a note he received from J.K Rowling. The note regards her feelings at Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson being cast for the roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, respectively. It can be viewed below.

Having seen Dan Radcliffe's screen test, I don't think Chris Columbus could have found a better Harry. I am also delighted to see that we're going to have a screen Ron and Hermione who can bicker as if they'd been doing it all their lives.
