Thanks everyone for being patient as we experience "growing pains" from the upgrade. I know there are features being turned on and off and that it can be confusing, but the admin team is working hard to try get up to speed on all the new changes. The upgrade occurred much quicker than we thought it would!

So, with that in mind, I wanted to let you know that we've added a new FAQ item: What are the rules for Albums? which explains what limitations there are on albums. These limitations cannot actually be broken, but it's always nice to know what you should be able to do. :)

Also, we've disabled the friending option for now. This option compromises our commitment to internet safety. We don't want our members posting things that are "Friends Only" thinking that will make it safe or feeling pressured into accepting someone as a friend who really isn't (I know I felt horrible "rejecting" people, myself).

Finally, we have temporarily disabled Social Groups until we have come up with a policy and guidelines for them. Stay tuned for more info. :shifty:

The technical support and admin teams are proud to introduce an upgraded forum. No posts or information was lost during this upgrade, however you will notice a few new features. Please note that we are also experimenting and finding out more about the new features so this is by no means a comprehensive list. If you find any problems, please report them in the Prefect's Office thread set up for that purpose.

Featured New Features ;)

New Member Profile Page: The member profile page is going to look really different now. Read on for more on the new features you see there.

• Reciprocal Friendships: add and confirm friends on your buddy list (other members can see who your friends are)
• Public Messaging: kind of like your "wall" on facebook. Members can add messages to your profile and you can respond. This is a new feature in addition to and different from user notes.
• User Picture Galleries: add and manage photos on your account. Photos will only be viewable to those you give permission to (all members, buddy list, or just staff).
• Recent Visitors: see who's been looking you up!

Social Groups: We haven't developed a policy for these, yet so their use may change over time, but right now these are similar the fan club threads. Groups have a public messaging system and ability to add photos for their group.

Thread Tagging: Add tags to threads to facilitate searching (only certain usergroups will be able to add tags to threads, but everyone will be able to search them) ABUSE OF THIS PRIVILEGE WILL RESULT IN IT BEING TAKEN AWAY. Please restrict tags to single, descriptive, actual, words. Tags will be removed at admin discretion. Do NOT put them back in if they are removed.

Thread Prefixes: You may have already noticed these in the news. Certain forums will have certain prefixes you can choose from when starting a new thread (for example, "UPDATED", in the news is used to indicate a thread has been updated since the news was posted). Note: Prefixes are specified by the admins in certain forums and not all forums will have them or the same ones.

Attachment Lightbox: Attached images will open in a "lightbox" in the current window instead of opening in a new window.

Navbar Notices: Admins can add notices to the top of the page. You'll be able to check them off as read if the admins choose to "clear" the message from the tops of pages. These notices can be directed at everyone, certain groups, or even just one member. :shifty:

Private Messaging Enhancements:

• You can now set display options for PMs for easier sorting/filtering.
• Quick Reply for PMS!!
• Private message reporting - for all those spam PMs you want to tell admins about :lol:

There are probably more and as the admin and mod teams become more familiar with them the access and use of these features may change.

SnitchSeeker has been experiencing an over-abundance of "server busy" errors today. The errors will tell you that you've run into Peeves and to count down from 10 before refreshing your browser. Too many refreshes all the time will contribute to this error appearing even more frequently which is why it asks that you wait a moment before doing so.

The technical team is aware of the problem and hopes to have it resolved soon. In the meantime, you may try using the "SS Lite" skin which is less graphics-intensive and so less of a drain on the server and also less likely to give you Peeves messages.

There may be brief intervals of site down time as we work to fix the problem and we'll update this thread when the problem is resolved.

This is just a heads up to let everyone know that we're currently experiencing some technical problems (top menu and other links not working, buttons not appearing on some pages, etc). Once we figure out what happened we can get to work fixing it. Hopefully the problems will be resolved shortly.

Today, October 29th, Turkey is celebrating its independence. To commemorate such an important date, the Turkish Forum is hosting a celebration! There you can celebrate their independence, share memories or just join in their celebration and learn things you never knew about Turkey!

And while you're there, if you want to know more about another language, feel free to drop by the Dept. of International Cooperation. You never know what you might learn there. ;)

It's been over a year since our chatroom went offline but after numerous hours (dare I say days?) of painstaking work by our Technical Savior, KevinG (Kevin Bloody G for Halloween ;)), our chatroom is back up and working. SeekerChat is an IRC chat with several channels including two gaming channels where you can play Uno (against Bertie Bot or other members) or Duelling (against Gildebot Lockhart or other members). We will be updating the chatroom FAQ in the Rules & FAQ with more information on how to play the games soon. TIP: you can access command information for the games when you are in the chatroom by typing !unocmds or !duelcmds, respectively.

You can access the full and versions of the chatroom from any forum page by going to the top menu bar, hovering on "Site" and then "Chat Room". The full version has all the bells and whistles while the lite version will not allow you to use smilies or sounds. The chat works using a java applet so you must have java enabled and click "Run" when you see the popup asking if you want to run the applet. If you have weird characters or spaces in your name you may need to PM an admin to have your name fixed to access the chatroom (it will only be changed for the chat and not on the forums) so if you can't get the chat to let you in, just PM an admin.
