Pues sí, lo que dijiste estuvo bien. Aunque en vez de 'provechosas' también tienes la opción de decir que 'Son de mucha ayuda' o 'Me sirven de mucho'. Pero como lo dijiste, estuvo bién también, asi que.

" por" and " para" they both mean " for" if they are used in the same context but the difference stands in the fact that you would use " por" as a cause of something and " para" as the purpose of something
for example
"una pala para cavar"= a spade for digging with
"estas flores son para tu madre"= this flowers are for your mother
"le di mil dolares por su cama"= i gave him U$A 1000 for his bed
"murio por la patria"= He died for his country
"llegue tarde por la lluvia" = i´m late because of the rain
now the difference between " acerca" and " sobre" is evident
they both mean about but " acerca" always means about when " sobre" can also mean
1)envelope (as in correspondence)
2)approximately
"llegaremos sobre las once"= we´ll arrive at about 11
3)over
"estamos volando sobre Londres"= we´re flying over london
4)above
" sobre el nivel del mar"= above sea level

Tengo una pregunta a vosotros Como se dice "rat race" en espanol? Porque no podria encontrar esa frase en ningun diccionario y lo necesito para mi redaccion.

Hmm, una traducción literal sería "carrera de ratas". A menos que lo que tu quieras decir sea algo en particular que tenga su propia traduccion. /A literal translation would be "carrera de ratas" But I'm not sure what you mean is something specific that might have it's own translation, which I doubt.
