I know, I know, I said I would be done before the first....and yet it's already the second.

Sorry, but here is a long update. Enjoy!

The Second Generation: Chapter Seven

Albus and Sean trudged up the winding staircase to one of the school’s oldest and filthiest towers…the Owlery. They entered the round, open room wearily and Al leaned against a wall to take a breath. Boy was that climb exhausting!

Sean pulled some parchment out of his bag and started scribbling a hasty note for his mum while Albus searched among the owls for Socrates. He didn’t see the spotted brown owl right away, so he assumed the owl was out hunting and decided to write a note home while he waited.

Dear Mum and Dad,

We just got our first break finally and school’s going really well. I’ve made loads of friends here in Gryffindor and Professors Longbottom ~~sends his love~~ says hi.

I haven’t seen much of Uncle Percy, but Rose has earned us tons of points already and I did too, in Transfiguration.

Nothing much has happened except for this weird dream I had last night…but don’t worry. It was completely ridiculous and involved a crazy werewolf at Hogwarts. Ha ha, too bad we just missed the full moon!

Anyways, it’s no big deal. Everyone here knows you and Dad though, so it’s weird, but I’m still having a great time. Tell Cousin Hugo he’ll love it here next year.

As he finished signing his name, Albus looked up and heard two voices arguing as they climbed the stairs to the owlery.

"I’m just saying, she could have lost us house points! On our first day, too!"

"Oh gimme a break! You know Kimberly ain’t no troublemaker! Give it a rest, wouldja?"

Just then, the door to the owlery flew open with a band and two Ravenclaws Albus had never seen before entered, pausing to stare him and Sean down.

The girl, who had just spoken, still had one manicured hand on her hip and was about to say something else, judging from her pouted, slightly-open lips. The boy, a taller kid with shaggy black hair and thick, magnifying glasses, had his eyebrows raised and arms crossed.

"Oooh, sorry for interrupting all ya’ll," the girl said after surveying the owlery and sizing the Gryffindors up. "Go on, get back to yo writin, Potter boy. This don’t concern you." She snapped a long, dark finger at him and then turned back to the boy to continue gossiping more quietly.

Albus blinked in surprise; clearly, he had just been dismissed. And that was a first. He turned towards Sean, rolling his eyes, and was amused to see the Irish boy blinking oddly at the girl.

"Hey wait a minute…" Sean spoke up, pointing at the girl and squinting. "How’d you know his name, eh?"

She whipped around to face the first years again, her facial expression clearly one of annoyance. "Duh, kid, I know everythang," she said with a snort. "Ain’t yer brotha ever mentioned me?" the girl continued, ignoring Sean and addressing Albus.

"Brother…? What brother?" Albus responded slowly, slightly mesmerized by this exotic girl and her weird way of talking. She wasn’t from England that was certain.

"Your ONLY brother, boy, Jayyyyames?' she replied, rolling her eyes and taking a step closer to Albus. "He never mentioned me? Are you sure?" Another step. "Does the name Sidney Sharpay LaShonda Samburrrrrrg sound familiar to you?" Up went her perfectly coiffed eyebrows.

Albus gulped and looked down at the floor, noticing Sidney’s uber-long, spiky-heeled boots. He certainly didn’t want to get in the way of those feet.

"Yo, Potter kid," Sidney snapped her fingers in his face. "Did Jay-ames mention his best gal pal or not?"

Al shook his head, still blinking and thinking that Sidney Something was a force to be reckoned with.

"Hmmph. Typical," she huffed, stalking back towards the Ravenclaw boy who had watched this whole exchange with a smirk.

Sean, meanwhile, merely shook his head and rolled up his scroll, thinking their conversation was over as the two Claws started talking again. Al sealed his letter too, and glanced out the window to wait for Socrates.

He heard a few snatches of the boy and girl talking again, though, and wished he’d brought along an Extendable Ear. Albus was able to pick up on a few interesting words, however…'werewolf,' 'stupid magazine,' and 'Kimberly reading'. Al shook his head to clear his brain of the words and then beamed as he saw Socrates soaring thought the window towards him. James’ owl seemed to be accompanied by a smaller, snowy-white owl though, and the two flew in the owlery at the same time.

"Bon Qui Qui, girl, where you been?" Sidney gushed, rushing forward to the white owl, her boots going clackety-clack clack on the tile floor. Albus sighed and went to greet Socrates as well, noticing that the two Ravens were tying a shiny magazine to their owl’s leg. Being the naturally nosy first year he was, Albus snuck a glance of the magazine’s title; 'bbler' it said. Must be a partial word….

Sean attached his letter to Socrates' leg too and they sent the owl off. Strangely, he seemed to have a connection to the white owl, Sidney’s owl, as Socrates hooted twice before flying out the window. Bon Qui Qui hooted twice in reply before taking off too.

Their deed done and break almost over, Albus and Sean prepared to leave the owlery. "After you, madame." Sean said politely, allowing Sidney and her friend to go down the tower stairs first. The dark girl riased a trim eyebrow in reply. "I ain’t no 'ma-dom,' but I appreciate the offer, boy," she said sassily, smiling for once. "Brian here would never do that."

The other Ravenclaw with her rolled his eyes. "Oh puhleeeeeze, just go," he said, giving her a push. "But yes, she’s right about me. Brian Schmee, first year Ravenclaw. Pleasure to make your acquaintance." He grinned and offered the boys a handshake, his large eyes magnified tenfold by his glasses.

Albus and Sean shook his hand politely as Sean did the introductions. "I’m Sean Finnigan, and this here’s Albu----"

"Potter, yeah, I know," Sidney interrupted. Again, Albus blinked at her. "Look kid, I might be just a second-year Ravenclaw transfer, but I get around." She winked at him. "Like I said, just ask yer brotha."

And with another mischievous wink, Sidney Sharpay LaShonda Samberg and her Brian Schmee headed out the door, Sidney sashaying as she walked and Brian taking careful steps.

I'm a new reader too and I think the magazine is the Quibbler you know the one that Luna Lovegoods dad did yeah well I think it's that magazine.
PS. i think your story is great so far and my favourite of these story's are the ones that have the kids in it you know the 2nd generation.

The Second Generation: Chapter Eight

Sean stared after her and turned to Albus.

“What the hell was that all about?” he exclaimed. “She’s a bloody banshee, the Queen of Sheba – I swear!” He was shaking his head in disbelief but smiling slightly.

“Yeah, tell me about it,” Albus replied, grinning too. “And it sounded like they know Ms. Davies too…” he added, nudging Sean with a wink.

“Shush, you,” Sean teased back. “Anyways, we’ve got to get a move on to lunch, you know.”

“Let’s go then!” Al grinned and rubbed his stomach, looking forward to another fantastic Hogwarts meal. They were half the fun of this school anyways. “James had better be there,” Albus mentioned as they headed out of the Owlery, “because he’s got a lot of explaining to do…”

Upon reaching the Gryffindor table, Albus immediately spotted James and plopped down next to him. “Hey bro,” James nodded at Albus as he gnawed on a chicken leg.

“James….just who I was looking for,” Albus grinned as Sean sat down on his other side. They had him cornered now.

“Uh...yeah?” James looked from firstie to firstie, wondering what was going on. “Do you need something? Did you send that letter?”
“Yes, yes, dear brother, and we met someone interesting in the Owlery too…” he trailed off, raising a meaningful eyebrow at Sean.

“Does the name Sidney Sharpay LaShonda Samburrrrrrg sound familiar to you?” Sean piped up, pronouncing it just like the girl had.

James blinked at Sean for a moment, then slowly turned to Albus as a crooked little smile spread across his face.

“Oh you mean Sid…” he replied at a snail’s pace, still grinning weirdly. “Yeah, I know her. What about her?” He chuckled a little, not noticing that he’d dropped his chicken leg back on his plate.

“Um, well,” Albus started to respond. This was definitely not the reaction he’d been expecting. “Er…we just ran into her..and uh…she acted like she expected us to know her…or something...”

“Yeah, she acted like you two were best friends or something,” Sean interjected. “Like the whole of Gryffindor should have heard of her,” he added with a snortlaugh.

Still grinning and staring dreamily off into space, James nodded slowly, as if in a trance. “Sure, you could say that.”

Albus and Sean exchanged wary glances, for Albus had certainly never seen his brother like this before.

“Uh, Jaaaames,” he called, waving a hand in front of his brother’s face. “Snap out of it!” He was very tempted to just hit the older boy upside the head…that would teach him…

“Huh what? Sidney?” James shook his head to clear his thoughts, his eyes sliding back into focus. “Oh right. What did you want to know again?”

Sean sighed, muttering under his breath, “I hope I never get that way about a dumb girl…”

“We wanted to know, er, who is she really? Because she certainly doesn’t seem like she’s from around here…” Al continued quietly.

“Oh, right,” James nodded, picking up his chicken again. “Shesha secowd year transhfer from ‘merica,” he replied with his mouth full.“And a Wavencraw,” he added before swallowing.

“Okay…” Sean mumbled, figuring that was how she knew Kimberly. “But how does she know you?”

James grinned again and took another bite of chicken. “Kwidderch,” he mumbled. “Sheesh weally good, a scheeker.”

Albus’ eyes widened. That was the position he wanted for Gryffindor! How he would ever catch the snitch in a match against Ravenclaw now?! That girl was intimidating with a capital I!

“What about that magazine she was sending?” Sean pressed James. “Something called the Bbler?”

James wrinkled his nose, frowning at Sean. “How in Merlin’s name am I supposed to know that? Never heard of it!” He shook his head and picked up another chicken leg. “And that’s enough questions anyways. You’re not Muggle please-men or anything,” he chuckled, starting to chow down.

Albus shrugged at Sean, hoping they’d get some answers later. Maybe in Charms later today….
