Is there a reason we have a forum?

Okay, once upon a time, the EWFC did need a forum, and used it. Now, however, the focus has been on the games. I made an announcement a month ago, and NO discussions have gone up. None. I closed down the chat and the club died. We are supposed to have discussions, not a "chat" thread. I've seen none of it.

So, I'm giving you a discussion. Prove to me that we need a forum.

Err well first of all, I thought it wasn't the greatest idea in the first place to make the chat threads only about the respective actor or character. But that's just an aside.

And what about the discussions? Most of them were closed already, if I remember correctly, and the only one still open was the film #1 discussion.
I posted in there twice, and I was hoping for a thread on #2. There are a couple of good ideas in the Suggestions Thread, too. Maybe we could PM all EWFC members or something to let them know that the club is still alive...

I didn't make those rules, but it was a condition on getting, and maintaining, a forum. Besides, why would you join the EWFC to talk about Rupert? This is supposed to be a club dedicated to the person in question, not just a group of people talking about their day. That's what the TP thread is for.

The games are NOT a right in a FC, they are a privilege. If all you want to do is play games, Zonko's is open and available to everyone site-wide. Few games were allowed as long as discussions were kept up.

I know you didn't make those rules. That's just something that was bothering me in general.
I liked the "chatty" chat threads because you got to meet people through their admiration (or whatever) for a particular character or actor you liked as well. And at least at first, I thought the TP was much too confusing and filled with people who already knew each other. I didn't feel particularly welcome there. Err, off-topic rant over. Sorry.

I see your point about the games, but as I said, I thought most discussions had already been closed. I personally was never really interested in the games, but I think I participated in them rather than not post anything at all. A film #2 discussion would have been nice, but I doubt we would have miraculously had people post in here all of a sudden anyway.

Dunno how many people apart from me will respond to this. I guess the FC is pretty much dead. Losing the forum would be kinda sad, but to be perfectly honest nothing I'd lose any sleep over. Apart from the occasional game post, there wasn't really anything in here, and that's why people stopped visiting it, I suppose. *shrugs*
Dunno how successful an attempt to revive it would be..?

I'm sorry I haven't put much into the FC lately. I don't want to make excuses for my self, but I have been a little busy. However, I do agree that the fan club needs reviving so maybe we could come up with a few discussion threads.

Mistress Vondella, I'll wait for the go-ahead from you to put up some threads, as I'm not sure if you want any up until we prove we need a forum. I don't want to make anymore mistakes.

Though I agree, in principle, about the chatty threads....they were just becoming another type of TP which is why the FC mods decided they should go.

We've revived the forum before, I'm hoping we can do it again.

I completely understand, but we would need more officers, as well. You and tatewin can't really do EVERYTHING.

Just open up a discussion thread, something about Emma at Fashion week. It'd also be good if we actually had Emma news inside the forum, instead of just in the Site News o.o the DTFC is talking about using the David news as a way to make discussions since not everyone has seen everything he's done (myself being one of them).

We do need to try to bring people back, though. Maybe if we start a couple of discussions, and send out a mass PM to most of the members we can give it a jump start until we have enough people for graphic competitions or fanfics written by the club.

Mm I think sending a PM to all FC members would be a good idea. The Luna FC was pretty inactive as well a short time ago, but they organised a newsletter and a banner contest etc. and sent a PM to every member, and they seem to be relatively strong again. (Haven't posted there in ages, so I'm not 100 per cent sure.)

Well, I'll tell you the reason I wasn't very active. A month ago when the discussion thread went up, it was the discussion thread about film #1. I was hoping the discussion that would go up would be a little more recent, such as film #4 or #5. The sixth movie is coming out soon, and although we haven't seen Emma in it yet, of course, we could at least discuss the photos we've seen of her, the casting of Cormac, etc. With all the new, recent films and happenings, I just didn't have much to say about the very first film.

I do see that we have a colleges and news section up now, so I'm excited to see that!

So i've only just recently joined and this is my first post (right? I think? Right!) It looks like there really hasn't been alot of activity, which is a shame- and I'm not going to make promises myself- but I will try to check in as often as possible.


Obviously there was a demand in the first place to have this club set up; I guess we just have to work together to find ways to make it fun and still keep a focus on Emma Watson (since that is obviously the point).

edit: also I see we have a thread now for Emma News. Thats great but I also see a whole bunch of the SS news that features Emma in the sidebar... perhaps copy pasting it and then we can discuss it better with fellow fans?

Emma Watson is a very respected actor and she should be praised for her work and as far as i can see a few people are active in here so i think maybe a few more discussions should be opened up.

I only just joined today and was shocked to see that there has been so little activity in the club. This is a shame, and I really encourage everyone to start pulling together. We can think up discussion topics, I'm sure. The FCs aren't just about games, it is important that we be discussing something in the clubs at all times. Emma is a very interesting person, she deserves to have a place where her fans can honor her and write about her. That doesn't mean that there can't be any games, not at all. Just that we should have both going on!

As Linda said, there should be games but there should still be discussions at the same time. I think that you should open a couple of games, and the discussions that are there. Then see what happens, If people only go for the games then remove them.

That is true, But the games are closed for there are no activities in the FC. especially the discussions.
