Election EraAll historical records pertaining to Ministry of Magic RPG under Ministers for Magic, Sherman Clark [IC January 2086 - December 2089; OOC February 2015 - June 2016] & Althea Scabior [IC January 2090 - December 2093; OOC February 2016 - June 2017]
The Tenth floor corridor isn't really much of a corridor, but from here you'll find the way into all the courtrooms as well as a few smaller offices. The corridor is dingy and dark, and short and stubby. Theres an alcove with a padded bench to sit on if you happen to be waiting to talk to someone, but its not really all that inviting down here so you probably don't want to hang around unless you have official business.
ooc: Anyone is welcome to create their own RPs in this thread.

After the large doors to Courtroom 10 closes behind him, Armen stopped in the corridor beyond and pulled a piece of parchment out of his jacket pocket. This was definately a victory not only for the Cult but for him and his department aswell--but even though seeing the MLE employees in a hissy fit would be oh so enjoyable, Isobel was going to be among them and having just made up from their previous fight, the Transportation Head thought it would be best to appologize up front.
He took out a quill and scribbled, then tapped it with his wand, sending it off to the Level two Auror offices.
Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna
So he had made it down to the Level 10 courtrooms in one piece, Simon momentarily glad he had chosen the lifts rather then other options to insure he found where he needed to go. However halfway there he had realized the head auror hadn't mention WHICH courtroom it was that was missing cushion. Not that it mattered much, he still needed to think of where to go on with his search. The same level had been the first thought that came to mind so that was where he had gone.

When they eventually reached the tenth level, Konrad, again, stopped for a few moments while the ladies took in the new surroundings. Well, in all honesty, it was the first time he had ever stepped down there, too, since he was practically working in the exact opposite side of the Ministry; many, many levels above that one.
Echoooo... echoooo... echoooo...
Ooooh, the level was even more deserted than the previous one, and their footsteps even had an echo! "As I mentioned before, here you can find the courtrooms." Nothing interesting to see. He couldn't help but wonder, though, if Roxanne's job ever brought her over there, but it was SUCH an inappropriate time to think about that, since he didn't even notice the small smile playing on his lips at the thought of her.

Ahem.
Well...
... The echoes are kind of scary...
...... How do the people in here SURVIVE this?......
Lulu looked around. Courtroom here. Courtroom there. Yeah, Konrad was right about the... not so interesting part. But at least they got to explore around for quite a while. Which is REALLY good. She is NOT gonna get lost in the Ministry. This was going to be her second home, yes.
Right. No questions about this place. Lulu won't be snooping here anyway, unless it was important. Or whatever. Alright.

Mariel stepped through the stairway, stopping at the bottom, then walking a few steps forward to make room for the others.. listening to the loud click-clack of her echoing footsteps. Hmm.. this place was sorta boring. It was empty like the last place.. but had none of the intrigue or spookiness. Just empty.
The woman took a cursory glance of the area, then smiled at Konrad. "Alright.. where to next?" Hopefully that place would be a little more interesting.

Konrad could only grin, thinking; I told you so. He noticed that they were both quiet about the place and, to be honest, there was nothing more to see, other than a corridor with lots and lots of doors, which led either to courtrooms, either to offices. And what an awful place to have an office.
Where next? "I was thinking about going back to level eight, where I can show you our quite new food court, which is definitely livelier than what you have seen by now." Although... he wondered if they knew anything about the zombie thing going on around the Ministry, or if he was supposed to tell them anything. The problem was, he didn't know much, either. "Then, we can see the Department of Magical Games and Sports," which would probably interest them the most, "and visit the mid and upper levels." Until they reached his level. "How's that?" Again, he was open to any other suggestions, should they have any.

Lulu nodded. Well, there was nothing better than that. "Yes, we can go with that plan," Lulu agreed. If Ms. Morgan.... Mariel, as she insisted, was okay with the whole plan then it could work. No doubt on that. Lulu looked at Mariel, waiting to see if she's up for the challenge. Obviously, the blonde knew she'd agree.

Mariel turned her attention back to Konrad as he started speaking again. "Food court?" Well, of course the Ministry should have one.. why was she slightly surprised? And that would be nice to see... "Sounds great," she smiled, then looked to Ms. Black who seemed to agree. Oh good.. this was easy and everyone was so agreeable.. And then her own department as they worked their way up.. Mariel nodded in confrimation as she waited for Konrad to lead the way. "A very logical way to proceed..."Snort. Even at 24, she still sounded like her old Ravenclaw self.

When they both agreed with his plan, Konrad couldn't help but grin. Knowingly or not, they made this assignment so much easier for him. It felt like a good idea at first when he signed up, then Roxanne scared him a little, and now he was back to being confident about everything, even if there were lots of places around the Ministry that he hadn't seen, and he'd been working there for quite a few years.
"Yep," he said in response to Mariel's question. Was she surprised they had a food court? Well, he was surprised no one had thought about it many years ago. It got tiring packing food every morning after a while. "Alright, then. Let us go back to level eight, and I'll show you how to get to the food court from up there."
While the other Aurors were off retrieving and guarding witnesses, Aspen was "busy" in the lower levels of the Ministry. Mostly, she was people watching, eavesdropping on conversations, lurking in the shadows. When she got bored, she'd use a tripping jinx on people entering Courtroom 10.

Just.... casually .... being Aspen.
Meep. There were so many people in the Courtroom for the case. And people meant social interaction and social interaction meant communication and...well, um, you see, Ferris was lacking in that skill.
All human beings frightened him. They were always looking to converse or talk to him. Archaic, really. He got much more done alone in his lab with a bottle of Code Red next to him.
So he had bolted from the Courtroom before the trial started to get some air. If he was going to be subjected to human TORTURE in the proceedings at least he would be free of interaction before the case.
Turning the corner to find his own space he stopped. Oh no, no, no. It was the girl. The one who had stolen his designs. Oh dear.

Frozen Ferris was frozen.
Aspen grinned from the shadows. Someone had spotted her. Someone that, when she got bored enough, she actively stalked. He was really into some muggle soda drink.
As casual as ever, Aspen pushed off the wall enough to stand up straight. Then she curled a finger for Ferris to COME. Come to her. Come to her shadow. And also stop standing in the way, lots of people were trying to get through.

He had been spotted, surely. That was what the human gesture of beckoning entailed, no? Oh dear, he did hope he was wrong because he did not want to go anywhere near any human. It was not mutually exclusive to the, by societies standards, pretty female before him.
Meep. He did not want to move...actually, he wasn't sure if he could move. His feet felt firmly planted into the ground. Until a group of men shuffled into the Courtroom past him and he jumped from fright.
Jumped right into the shadows with Aspen. Well, um, you see, that was her name...right? A properly female name. Which made sense because she was a female...NOT THAT HE HAD OBSERVED HER CLOSE ENOUGH TO KNOW..

Oh dear. Squeak.
Aspen put a casual arm around his shoulders, like they were chummy best friends forever. No big deal. "Most people are going into the trial. You came out." Pause pause pause. "Why's that?"

HUMAN CONTACT! Spazz attack!!!
Wriggling out of her arms with wide eyes Ferris began to stutter endlessly. It only ended when he whispered out, "T-t-t-t-tooo muh-muh-muh-many p-people." Like her.
Human contact was too much. He didn't even know her. Oh no, no, no. Did this mean she thought they were engaging in a close human relationship like a friendship or courtship? He, um, well, you see, needed to hide.

Hm. "You should switch to water. Lemonade." Maybe he'd be less jittery, you know? Aspen didn't try to touch him again, and she even stepped away a little to give him space. If she carried around paper bags with her, she'd have offered him one.
"Do you have to be here? Assigned to the trial?" Otherwise, she'd escort him back to his office? All the Aurors were off escorting witnesses, so Aspen could escort a soda addict back to his hole.

W-what was she talking about? Water and lemonade? He had assumed they were talking about his unease with human interaction or was he misunderstanding the conversation. Truly, he was confused and felt like he might pass out at any moment. The only thing that kept his standing was the thought of people touching him when he passed out to help. Meep.
Double meep. Was he in trouble? He was called for duty and surely, well, um, you see, he hadn't messed up this opportunity already. Ferris adored his job and his lab and his things there. "Y-y-yes." Yes, he had to be here.
Conventionally pretty female had to stop looking at him. It made him uncomfortable and sweaty the same way a long tour on Call of Duty did.

Aspen wasn't going to stop looking at him. In fact, the more he seemed to sweat, the harder she DID penetrate him with staring. If he was going to pass out, she wasn't going to miss that.
"I don't say this often, but I'm not actually going to hurt you." Not at the moment, anyway. She just wanted to help for whatever reason. Boredom. Or maybe he struck a cord in her mostly non-existent heart.
And with that, she reached for him again, gently taking his FACE in her hands so that he absolutely had to look at her, only her, FACE TO FACE. Sometimes West got all worked up over things, too, though not crowds of course, and he just needed to be redirected. Maybe Ferris just needed a redirect.
"Hi. I have your drawings still. I framed them and put them at my desk."

He did not like to be touched please. Social conventions that came easily for other people were confusing and anxiety inducing for Ferris. The concept of a hand on his back was not only unwelcomed, but terrifying.
H-h-hurt him? Why would she hurt him? She was an officer of the law, was she not? That was why she had, um, taken his papers, yes? For police work and the like. And his Mum had taught him never to disobey the law or it's officers. Save that one time he illegally downloaded an expansion pack for a video game.
But hurt him? Why would she even bring that up? Oh DEAR. Oh no, no, no. Was he in trouble because of his illegal download? Did this mean he was punishable by law and her? Surely she wasn't capable of hurting people. She didn't seem the type to him.
AHHHHH MORE TOUCHING. Why did she INSIST upon touching him? If this was a top secret arrest for his illegal activity she should just do it from the distance. Close and personal gave him hives.
With bug eyes he tried to wiggle out of her grasp, but was then looking into her eyes. They were REALLY looking at him. Meep. He noted she had nice ones though. If the conventional descriptions of beauty applied, which he was not sure they did. Very blue.
"M-my invention?" he stuttered out with a panicked look and a half-hidden grin.
Oh, was this the courtly ritual that his mother had always TOLD him about as a scary story before bed? Did she expect to be kissed? Meep. And so, being the scientist he was, he asked, "Um...um...um...i-i-is t-t-this a tttrade?" He was uncomfortable with that if it was.

It was working. He was totally still freaking out, but for different reasons. A redirect.
And if this didn't work, Aspen was legitimately going to knock him out and stow his body in closet until the trial was over.
She gave his cheek a nice little brush of her thumb, soothing, calming. He was OKAY... (not really, but if he believed...). To his first question, his invention, yes. He got a nod. That. She had that still.
But his second question... Her head cocked. "In what sense of the word? A trade as a skill? Or a trade as in a swap of goods?" What on earth would he swap her? Interrrrrrrrrrrresting.

Oh dear. He was engaging in a human exchange of ideas and closeness. A convention known as conversation. This was not what he wanted. C-could he, um, just return to his dark lab and improve the wizarding world and mankind as a whole there? He wasn't accomplishing anything here aside from a borderline asthma attack.
Hmm. That was puzzling and startling. The motion her thumb was making. Could he contract an illness from that?! BUG EYES. Was this her intention all along? To trick him into some false sense of security and then arrest him? Squeak.
Q-questions? But...oh dear. Please, miss, he had asked the question first. Her follow ups were only progressing the conversation. This female was unmoved by his apparent discomfort. Words Ferris. Use them. "B-b-blue eyes aaaare d-d-dtthe rarest muuutation, um, um, of eye c-c-colour."

Science.
Aspen wasn't bothered by his discomfort, or the long awkward gaps in conversation. She was patient in every sense of the word and them some. A trade she'd learned from being West's big sister.
So she waited for his answer.
But never got one. What she got was... "Ferris." Calm calm calm. "Are you flirting with me?" ....and grin. So the grin was a LITTLE feral. A little. She kept his face, gently keeping his attention.

Ummmmmm.
Flirting. The definition was a little hazy, but he was almost certain it had to do with the ritual of courtly love. An exchange of two humans, or animals if they weren't being specific, using words or expressions to try and achieve a romantic response out of the other person.
Ferris wasn't even sure he was capable of such an intense human and anxiety ridden ritual. W-was he flirting? Oh dear. He truly hadn't meant to. After all, he was a scientist. He enjoyed mutations and things about humans that excluded communicating with them.
All she got was a blank stare and some rapid blinking, "A-a-am I?" Observing her mutation and being fond of it was not flirting was it? Oh no, no, no. Had he offended her? AND SHE STILL HAD HIS FACE WHICH WAS HUMAN INTERACTION.

His dark hole sounded nice.
Aspen took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Answering questions with questions drove her insane. It was SO Montmorency and it was just infuriating. It was just more fodder for Aspen to REALLY learn legilimency.
Speaking of.... This Ferris.... he'd make an EXCELLENT test subject for just such endeavors. Noted.
"Ferris," Aspen let his name hang in the air again. "How have you dealt with crowds in the past?" he'd made it THIS far, so he'd had some success before...
