Once you fill out the appropriate form, that's where you'll need to wait but don't worry the chairs have been charmed to be far more comfortable than they appear.

Through the door to the left is a work area for CMEC, IUMO, MMAO and Wizengamot, as well as the Magical Forensics Lab, a storage room, and access to the Direct Floos to the right you can walk through booking and interrogation to reach the Viewing Room and Holding Cells, the Conference Room, the Department Head's Office and the Auror, Security and MLES work area. You may not enter these areas unless you are accompanied by an MLE employee.

Everyone and anyone is welcome to RP here! Our receptionist is a NPC (non-playable character) by the name of Muriel. She's efficient and quiet (because obviously theres nobody RPing her! If you address her nobody will respond.) If your character is here to visit with a DMLE employee, you can feel free to post on through to the appropriate area, (just make sure you start by coming through here!) Alternatively if you wish to create your own RP, report a crime or anything like that, feel free to PM the Department Head and we can try to figure something out for you! If nobody responds to you in due time, please send a PM or VM to one of the active employees!

Emily had taken the lead in the approach of level two. It was her level, so she had this, she wanted to see what had become of her domain in their absence. Continued charms work revealed there was nobody, or much of anything on the level, and certainly nothing dark. But something felt .... off.

"What the?" she murmured. Her reception area was damaged. Why was it damaged? The blasting had nothing to do with this!!!! "On your toes," she added to those who followed her. "Keep your eyes peeled..." she nodded for them to look about the place, they needed to start connecting dots, because there WAS a reason why this all happened to begin with.

Simon was close on Emily's heals so as not to dally. His wand at the ready just at his side as he stepped out of the staircase and into the department proper. They needed to be on alert for whatever they might just find when they came through to the familiar zone. But nothing prepared them for the sight.

The woman's exclamation pretty much summed up what was going through his head as they looked at the mess that was Level 2's waiting area. The auror simply nodded at the order to look sharp, his grip tightening on his wand as he broke off and headed towards a different portion of the area. The young man checking and rechecking for anything suspicious as he ran through his training.

Moving around to the back of the reception desk, Emily leaned forward to inspect the markings across the desk more closely. "Something's been here." That much was obvious, but what it was, was still a mystery.

"Got anything over there, Bennett?" she asked, wondering if he'd had any more luck? Or could they move on, she was itching to make sure the evidence and pensieve room were in tact. The security was tight, but anything was possible all things considered. Her fingers were still gripped around her wand, but mentally they were crossed.

And, was anyone else coming? Or were they too busy mourning the hole in the ceiling?

Toes?

Momentarily mystified by what his department head was saying, Jake blinked and looked down at his feet to see just what was on his toes. It wasn't until the 'eyes peeled' statement that Jake realised it was one of those weird sayings. He followed the others into the general level 2 area, not even realising that he was very sliiiiiiiightly walking on his tiptoes, thanks to his subconscious.

As the others looked around, Jake followed suit, listening hard for any out of place noises and ready to react to any sudden movements. Not just because it was a professional thing, but because this was kinda creepy and exACTLY the point in a horror movie where... well, y'know.

Jake ran his fingers very lightly over the top of one of the desks as he heard Emily mention something having been here.

"Seems so," he chimed in, as he turned to face the others, holding a finger. "Kinda dusty too. Whatever it was probably hasn't been here for a while-" Jake paused, cautiously approaching some of the more chewed up furniture and lowering his voice subconsciously "-or... no, never mind. It probably just preferred certain pieces of office furniture over others."

But what was it? OOOooooOOOOOoooOOOOooooOOO. Mystery in the air.

The place was indeed a mess even beyond the obvious first glace. Dust was plentiful around and Simon almost sneezed as he managed to kick up a bit in his movements in the direction of interrogation. And there was the occasional scratching which agreed with Emily's pronouncement. Something had been here, the thought echoed by the third member of their little group. All MLE...surprise surprise.

"I've got nothing...and I mean nothing," he answered as he was getting results from spells sent out to the walls and area. Security checks, surveillance, anything he would look for to make a place secure and free of trouble. " Nothing's bouncing back as being present including spells." Which was certainly an oddity on Level 2.

"Those mutants again?" he asked, finally turning to look back at Emily and the other man who was with them. "The marking certainly fits." And hadn't there been blackouts in magic then too?

Dusty too? Such an astute observation there by Upstead, it appeared as though he was as apt at stating the obvious as her. Kudos kid, kudos. She grumbled, just because. Look at the state of her department! She was itching to get to the bottom of this, if only so she could point fingers at whoever was deemed to be at fault for it all.

"Yeah, I'm not getting anything here either... it's all... void." Void of everything including magic, something was not right, and it seemed Bennett was thinking along the same lines as her. Of course, Upstead hadn't been part of the department for long, so he didn't know any better what the level ought to look like.

"Better not be, or I won't be wasting my time with cages," no, she'd hex them into oblivion. Or something. "C'mon, let's keep moving, I want to make sure our evidences are still in one piece." And not clawed or covered in dust, and Circe help her if the protective charms on the room were gone, she'd send whoever was at fault to Azkaban. Emily let the door through, swing open. This time one of them could go first, she wasn't sure if she wanted to see this.

Having high-tailed it over from the Flourish and Blotts efforts team and agitated that she would never know if her theory would have worked, the forensics worker was dumbfounded by the sight before her. She automatically reached for the wand strapped at her hip, still carrying the small box at the other hip that held the makeshift floo powder that was to be her effort at gaining access to the Ministry. She did not aim her wand at anything, merely felt comforted by having it there, at the ready.

The auburn-haired scientist followed behind, looking about at the destruction, before she let out a quiet gasp at the thought of what had happened to the rest of the floor. More specifically, her lab. Elinor took a few steps in that direction, but would not leave the area unless and until her department head gave her a say-so. Still. There was destruction as far as the eye could see. What was it she had told herself at the fireplaces? That it wasn't a crime scene?

This. This was a crime scene.

Well, this place looked wonderful.

Following everyone else, Legend entered the reception area. The last time he had been in here it had been spick and span and to be honest quiet dull looking. "At least this place has some character now." The Auror muttered as he kicked at one of the pieces of debris.

He had casted some spells of his own, and Simon was right. There was nothing. Void of magic. Any barriers, all the charms they had in place- nothing was there.

As for the other guy who Legend didn't know- the dust made sense. The area had been destroyed and unoccupied for what-months? "Mutants?" Legend piped up, wondering what in the world Simon was talking about.

Anyways. "Considering that everything chewed is not covered in dust. I'm guessing this happened very recently." Just common sense there.

Moving on then?

As Emily motioned them into the other room, Legend made this way through the door without any hesitation.

A big void of everything but mystery.

And gradually becoming less and less void of people as first the lab director and then Legend made an appearance. Both of them having obviously gotten the message they were through and followed from the hole in Level One. And both from MLE. Though Simon still had to get used to having his fellow auror back in their presence, silently wary of any clue his previous personality was returning to cause trouble with him.

He did have to agree with his boss on the mutant situation. If it was the creatures, Simon was certainly not a fan of their work. Harmony and her elk would just have to morn their loss. "Long story..." he responded, briefly turning to Legend when he questioned about them. Very long story and they were being directed to head elsewhere in their searching, doing something more important at the moment than talking about mutants. "Could have worked the way from another portion of the Ministry. " They'd have to wait to see reports from the other levels to compare notes.

Right...onto the penseive room, one of the places that was supposed to be the most secure on this level. Other than the department head's office he was sure. Switching directions, Simon moved to head where Emily was gesturing, following Legend into the room.

She could only imagine the state of Elinor's lab at this stage, at best, it'd be dusty and decrepit, but in a worst-case scenario... well... anything was possible. As it was, it wasn't top her her priorities list just yet, but with all of their open AND closed cases, there was evidence and memories they needed to keep perfectly preserved.

Emily followed the others, letting the door close behind her. Anyone else that came would through would be left to come to their own conclusions and make themselves useful in a way they saw fit.

Still annoyed at A&C employees, Josh finally walked into level two only to halt when he saw...the place. Oh...wow wow. He wanted to think that someone tried to apply his weird sense of decoration at the whole place however....meh. As he walked forward, he trailed the tips of his fingers on the spots where it looked like having been bitten and/or clawed.

Creatures?

Hah. They better not come in the way of this auror when he was already annoyed so much. After looking at some teeth marks, absent mindedly moving his fingers on each mark, Josh looked up when he heard distant voices coming from...the open door of the evidence room. People were there. Good. He might be able to forget how annoyed he was at the A&C people if he started to work for his own department. Stopping fingering the teeth marks on the surface, he made his way towards the evidence room.

Alex turned around startled when someone else joined them in the corridor, but quickly discovered it was just a fellow ministry employee. Nodding politely to him, as Ainsley welcomed him to join their parade, she redirected her attention back at her surroundings.

"Definitely something chaotic and destructive," she murmured towards Edward. "But yes, isn't there always ... a wizard behind it. That is." Same with the threat; there was a wizard behind it with some sort of vengeance against the sport. "You know... what if it came from one of the other wizarding schools? Perhaps as a way for their school to gain grounds on Hogwarts in terms of getting more of their students into professional leagues. Putting Hogwarts at a disadvantage. I would imagine, given the deadly blow they suffered in the scholarship bowl where Hogwarts won an enormous amount of grant money ... well surely anyone would want to seize something from Hogwarts. Anything." Made sense to her, at least. But what did she know? She was just an astronomy nerd.

Chaotic and destructive just really wasn't in the media liaison's job duties. Of course she knew that with any job there were risks and things could always happen, but she was thinking more on the lines of paper cuts, and maybe somebody yelling at her over a story. Those things she could deal with. She was out of her element on this one. As Ainsley listened to Alex's theory she started to think that it was making a lot of sense. "You're making a lot of sense. That could very well be the issue." Why would anybody tied with Hogwarts wish harm on the students and staff? Even if it was a disgruntled employee surely there were still people there that they cared about. They wouldn't want to hurt those people right?

Here they were right before the very office that held the head of law enforcement. Ainsley was an adult for crying out loud, but she couldn't help but to feel nervous about approaching Ms. Browne. "I guess all that's left to do here is to deliver the letter." After all they had more people to see and more places to go.

Everything was so inconvenient. Aside from having a whole department to take inventory of and catalogue, to assess damages to official records, documents and evidence, the fact that her office was barely operational was pathetic. Needless to say, with chizpurfles involved, it was perhaps her own fault -- and her predecessors, that the room had been so heavily laden with a matrix of defensive spells. Impenetrable to many, but not chizpurfles. Ridiculous.

Either way, she had places to be, hands to shake and meetings to sit through, as it was there wasn't much keeping her at the office while it was in clean-up stage.

"How may I help you?" she asked, passing Muriel's desk and immediately identifying the faces loitering in her waiting area. Not that they weren't welcome, they were, but she had to ask why. The Environmental woman she was familiar with, but Ms Scarsdale was even more familiar, and her, she didn't mind. Though, no basket of baked treats today? That was a shame, she'd missed lunch.

EEP! There she was! The head of law enforcement herself. Could she smell them or was it a mere coincidence that she happened to be walking out to the waiting area at the same time that they arrived? Either way she needed to speak to her, and she was here. It was most likely better that way. Ainsley could get this over with and go on about her day.

She wasn't sure if she was just being paranoid, but she could have sworn that Emily's eyes scanned her empty arms and noticed that she didn't having anything delicious to offer. Normally the blonde would never be empty handed, but considering the sofa on her level had been half eaten she could safely say that her mind had been on other things. "Lovely to see you Ms. Browne. Of course I wish it could have been on better conditions, but we thought you'd need to see this." She eyed the others. "Here you are." Ainsley handed the letter over to her.

Lovely to see her? .... Emily couldn't fathom how or why anyone would think it was lovely to see her - that was a privilege reserved for very few, as there was a reason she was generally moody and unapproachable. After observing Ms. Scarsdale a moment longer, she threw the woman a bone in the form of a fleeting smile. "Likewise." Of course her attention was solely with the piece of paper that was being offered to her. Something she would need to see? How so very interesting.

Whatever could it be?

With her curiosity tickled, Emily accepted the letter and unfolded it, her hazel eyes scanning the page not once, but twice.

"Thank you," she replied, not at all perturbed by its contents. She'd seen worse. "I need to know though, how many people and who aside from the two of us has touched this?" Evidence handling, some people just didn't understand. Motioning to Muriel over her shoulder to bring the necessary bags and tags, Emily waited for a response, hoping it hadn't passed through too many hands before reaching hers.

If Emily was going to eat hex her, she wished that she would get a move on. It was torture standing here while the woman practically burned holes into her. Blink. Blink. Was that a smile? She would take it. Ainsley exhaled not even realizing that she had been holding her breath. Emily could have reacted a lot worse, and while her welcome was less than friendly, Ainsley wouldn't waste time thinking too much into it.

Thank you? That was it? It was only a death threat at a place that housed children which was obviously no big deal to the woman. No need to freak out and summon aurors. Nope, things were totally chill over here.

The blonde had to think about the question that was asked. She had shown the letter to both Edward and Alex, but she was pretty sure that Edward read it while she held the letter. Alex on the other hand had definitely taken it from her to read for herself. "It was just myself and Alex who touched the letter before handing it over to you." She was like almost completely positive that it was the truth, but she was not about to tell this woman about her uncertainty. Nope.

For some reason Alex was at a loss for speech; might have had something to do with the fact that BOTH visits she had made to the Law Enforcement Department were when the department was ... not in the best of conditions, for lack of a better phrase. First rain and water damage, now pests. So she instead let Ainsley do the talking, since it was she who had held onto the threat anyway.

Once Emily had read over the parchment, her comment had Alex alarmed. How many and who had touched it? What did THAT matter?!? Seriously. There were threats being made against people who played Quidditch and all the Department Head wanted to know was who'd SEEN AND TOUCHED a piece of parchment. LIKE WHAT?!

For a moment her thoughts flickered to the two gentlemen who had been with them on level one where did they wander off to? but then she decided it didn't matter if they had or had touched it. As far as Emily knew they came straight there and it was just the two of them. "Just us two, yes." Alex confirmed, figuring Ainsley could use the backup support. "We were headed up to inform Mari-- er, Ms Morgan about it now, but figured we should stop here along the way since it is a death threat."

Why did she get the feeling the two women were judging her for not losing her head and summoning the cavalry? Her gaze paused on each of them before returning to the letter. It really wasn't that big a deal. The students were just on their way back to school now, and so long as they didn't play the sport they'd all live... so... there was nothing to panic about. Yet.

"Good," she mused at the knowledge of it only being the two to have corrupted it. Two they could work with, three including her own. Emily accepted the bag from Muriel and slipped the letter inside it, a flick of her wrist and she sealed it with her wand. "Your prints should be on record, but if we need anything more we'll be in touch... and apologies, it was Alex...?" surname would be handy, she wasn't one for guessing these things.

"I'll have forensics on this and an investigation will be pending. You can tell Ms. Morgan that much too while you're at it." It would save her the hassle.

"Was that all?" she asked as she handed the letter evidence to Muriel to deliver, wondering if perhaps she could go to that blasted meeting now.

Lawrence followed the two women into the waiting area of the second floor. He had to drop by his work area before he joined the group again The meeting among the two women and the Department Head of MLE seemed to be reaching the end, so he stayed near the doorway. "Uh, I'm sorry I'm late. Got caught up with stuff. Do you need my assistance?" He guessed that the women were perfectly fine by themselves, but just in case they needed evidence and stuff.

So there wasn't a little red button that was supposed to be pushed in emergencies? Or maybe perhaps death treats weren't little red button worthy? Anywho, there was no use wasting her energy on what Emily considered important because it looked like she was already set in her ways on how she was going to handle the situation.

It was then that Alex spoke up and backed her. She threw the woman a thankful smile. At least even if she was wrong then she would have somebody in the same boat as her... as selfish as that sounded. Prints were on file and all was well. "That's all." If anybody else cared to stay and talk to her then they would be on their own.

Ainsley didn't feel the need to comment on the Ms. Morgan comment because she didn't know the lady. She was along for the ride on this one. Ainsley noticed the man that appeared once again and she gave him a nod to show acknowledgement. If they backed up slowly right now all would be good.

Edward kind of wandered into the department of magical law enforcement. He had gotten disoriented somehow and separated from the 'group'. He sighed with relief when he saw Ainsley and the other lady and watched to see what was going on.

Okay, good, good. Department Head was good with it only being two of them and wait ... what? Those fingerprints she had taken when she first got employed were on record? But she was innocent so why would HER fingerprints matter to this parchment? It wasn't as if SHE wrote the letter. Yet the woman was acting as if they wrote the threat... and what? Oh, she didn't remember her? "Alex, yes, Alexandria Hadley. Climate Controller." You know just in case she wanted a complete record of who she was, since apparently she was the criminal here.

Was that all? Yup. As far as she knew. Except, no. The two gentlemen who were with them decided to reappear. Shooting them a quick nod, Alex just hoped they wouldn't prolong the situation on the level or Emily think they lied about the handling of the threat parchment. Because technically they didn't, since Alex was 99% certain that Ainsley held it whilst Edward and Lawrence read it over.

What was this?! Why were people cluttering her waiting area?! ... unnecessarily?! Surely they didn't all need to be here just to deliver a letter? It wasn't particularly nice, no, but it was hardly a matter of national security, no need to bring a cavalry of their own. They had it handled!

In all of this, Emily's expression remained the same, flat and generally disinterested. Did they know she had a boring meeting to get to? Probably not, but either way, they were holding her up.
