Magical Cooperation

Meetings within the Department of International Magical Cooperation and it's department head Gidyun Yenorin will be held here. We may have meetings with other departments and an occasional one in his office, but any meetings in regards to the entire department will be here. As well as if there are any dignitaries or ambassadors joining us!

A large, oval shaped, metallic topped table sits in the center of a large room with lots of windows on three sides. Nice and comfortable rolling high back chairs surround the table. On the fourth side sits a long table with a coffee pot and an electric kettle on one end of it for tea.

Entering the conference room, Gid had his folder full of papers and a large mug of coffee. He sat down in one of the new chairs, that were around the table. He still wasn't all that sure about some of the changes Charles had been quite insistent of, but well it was a little late now to be thinking on changing them. He did have to admit though the department looked a lot neater and more organized he had to say that. It was nice to actually be returning to the ministry like normal compared to a year ago.

Merlin, his department had shrunk again though. He'd lost two really good employees, and hoped with the new positions he'd put in place things would work more efficiently. He hadn't exactly told Charles that he was the only ambassador now yet either. That wasn't going to go over well he was sure.

It was good to be back in the UK, and back at work like a normal person. While Dmitry had enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends in Moscow over the break he was also glad to get back to his life here. He'd unfortunately missed the Ministry Gala, again, he'd make a note to go to it next year, but he'd gotten back in last night and was ready to get down to work. Although luckily it didn't appear that he'd have to do any manual labour since from what he could see as he walked towards the Conference room everything looked to be back in order. YAY for no more Chizpurfles'.

Walking into the room, a cup of Sbiten, in hand he took a seat at the middle of the glass table before noticing that his boss was in the room. "Morning Gidyun, I hope you had a good Christmas," Dmitry said politely, even though he wasn't a morning person he always tried his best to be at least somewhat personable at work, especially when he was alone with his boss until other employees got here, before taking a sip of his drink and making himself comfortable. He was looking forward to finding out what they'd be discussing at the meeting and hoped that the others would get here soon.

Striding into the room with a folder under his arm, Charles gave a nod to Gidyun and Dmitry. Then he put down his folder and sat down as he straightened up his suit. He had done everything possible to make sure he was ready for every single question/situation that could possibly be thrown at him during this meeting. Once he was settled at the, frankly, amazing new conference table, he looked up at their boss and waited patiently.

Ah, it's good to be back, Nikki thought as she walked down the familiar hallways of Level 5.

She had enjoyed her time off in Italy with her family over Christmas break, but had sorely missed the hustle and bustle of her life back in England. And now that she was back, she was more the ready to get back to work, especially with the new position she had been assigned! The life of a foreign relations officer sound far more exciting than that of a magical product tester...and safer.

Clutching her folder in one hand and a cup of coffee from a local muggle store in the other, Nikki walked into the new conference room happily. Morning everyone." she said before taking seat.

Looking up as Dmitry and Charles walked in he gave them a bright smile, as he sat back in his chair. "Morning." he said in greeting. "I had a great holiday" he responded to Dmitry with a smile "Yourself?" Looking up as another employee appeared his smile grew, it was wonderful having a returning employee! It had been a slight surprise, though very welcome. He'd lost all his files with the blasted chizpurfles eating all his files... At least one of the files had been replaced and put in the cabinet.

"Welcome back Nikki." he said greeting her. Three employees...he'd hoped that others like Elizabeth, Cynthia, and even their new employee Bhuvana would appear soon especially. But for now, he wanted to get things going. "Well let's things started, and hopefully others will join us soon. How about we go around and introduce ourselves, and what we do here on the level. We have a few people with promotions, but we'll get to those here shortly." Hopefully with others having joined them, otherwise they'd all just be congratulating each other....and Cynthia wasn't even there yet...

Dmitry returned Charles' nod with one of his own and gave the woman who walked in not long after a smile as he placed his mug down on the table. He had no idea who she was but that was no reason not to be as polite, and he figured he'd be finding out soon enough anyway.

"It was alright. It's always nice to go back home," although the holiday had been a little tense he figured no one needed to know that, especially since enquiring about how the holiday had been was a simple nicety. Besides, they were starting the meeting now, which was a bit surprising really since the others weren't here yet. Dmitry would have thought that at least a few more of the others would be here by now.

Time for introductions? This reminded him quite a bit of university where introductions at the beginning of the year had apparently been a necessity. "I'm Dmitry Konstantinov, you can call me Mitya if you like, and I'm a Security Council Member," Dmitry recited, giving Nikki a small smile as his introduction was mainly for her benefit since both Gidyun and Charles already knew who he was.

Nikki smiled back at Gidyun as he greeted her, glad that she hadn't been completely forgotten due her to long absence. "It's nice to be back." she replied earnestly. She offered a smile to the other men in the room and fixed the hem of her skirt nervously as they waited for others to arrive. Hopefully there were more employees on there way to the conference room. The more people there was, the less worried she would be about making a good impression.

But when Gidyun announced that it was time to start the meeting, Nikki looked up confused. This was it? They were the only ones to show up? Surely there had to be more than just four employees in the department. Nikki turned her head as one of the men she didn't know introduced himself. How on earth did you say his last name? It sounded so complicated. Must be from eastern Europe she concluded smiling back at him politely.

"It's nice to meet you." she replied. "I'm Nicolette Finn, Nikki for short, and I'm a Foreign Relations Officers."

Glancing up at Nikki when she walked in, Charles gave her a nod and then sat up a little straighter when Gidyun spoke. He wasn't completely in agreement about starting a meeting with most people missing, but hey, that was Gidyun's thing. "I'm Charles Taylor, and I am an Ambassador to other countries, specialising in the Americas." His eyes went to Nikki. "May I call you Nicolette?" When possible, Charles preferred to use the full first names.

He nodded to each of them in turn as they introduced themselves. "And I'm Gidyun but feel free to call me Gid. I've been department head here for IMC for 3 years now." Taking a deep breath, he looked towards the door, he'd really been hoping there'd be more turnout that morning... He'd just need to have a talk with his employees apparently, for those who'd decided to skip out on the meeting. "He knew that their new employee was out of town for a few more days, but he'd hoped for better with the others!

"As you know Charles and Dmitry, we lost most of everything in the office and level." Or well ministry... "I am currently in the process of getting all the files back and up to date, including prior employees and those on leave. If you can do me the favour of updating your file and filling this out and getting it to me as soon as you could, that would be great." he said passing a blank employee form to each of them. "Nikki I have yours on file, so we're good there. Charles, I know you were here before I started, and there were ambassadors that were here if you could remember their names possibly it would help me be able to locate them."

Dmitry sat quietly as the others introduced themselves, taking the occasional sip of his drink as he waited for the meeting to begin in earnest. He was still a bit surprised that the others hadn't bothered to turn up, if he was in charge that would have merited a note in their file about their commitment to work, especially when one of those who didn't turn up was recently promoted. Still Gidyun was running the show and if he didn't want to make a big deal about attendance at meetings than the others couldn't really be blamed for not showing up. Although some might turn up late he guessed.

Dmitry gave a short nod and grimaced slightly as Gidyun brought up the state that the department had been in before the holidays. It had been a real mess and had taken a while to get everything sorted again. Hopefully this year nothing similar would occur because Dmitry didn't even like to do his own cleaning, let alone clean up a mess made by someone or something else. "I'll try and get that to you by the end of the day, tomorrow at the latest," Dmitry said, pulling the paper closer to himself and looking down at it. The form was basic enough, he'd filled out enough of them before, basically every time he got a promotion and last year as well when he transferred here. It would be slightly time consuming though, but he figured he could get it done during his lunch break. Probably. And if not then he could definitely get it done overnight.

Charles definitely knew this. He'd helped to redecorate the department. It looked much more welcome and far cleaner now! When Gidyun spoke to him again, Charles handed the blank form back to him and handed over a filled in one. Ever prepared, he'd already filled one in for Gidyun. Nodding at the request, he looked down at his paperwork and made a note. Dmitry's response to getting the form to Gidyun later earned a look from Charles. Wasn't it simple to fill out the form right now? He'd give him a quill and ink.

Harland Flynn walked briskly through the door and was about to greet his coworkers as well as his boss when he suddenly sneezed violently into his elbow. Ugh. Dust allergies were not ideal for helping his sister move, which is what he had spent most of his holiday doing. Gross. "Excuse me, and good morning everyone," he said with a nod less curt than usual as his tired eyes found a set around the long table and he settled himself into it. He would have asked about holiday and such, but Harland wasn't really one for smalltalk.

Bhuvana was sipping her tea while dictating a note to the floating quill and parchment beside her right ear. She finished her note just as she walked into the conference room. Perfect. She put down her tea for a second, then sealed the note and sent it zooming to her bag back in the lobby. She picked her tea up again and took a look around her new work environment. It wasn't bad, and she could see a kettle for tea. Perfect. "Good morning," she replied to the coworker. She would learn names later.

Nikki smiled politely as the third and final man in the room introduced himself as Charles So this must be one of the ambassadors she would assisting from time to time. She blinked, momentary surprised when he asked if he could call her by her full name. The only person who used her full first name was her grandmother. "Um, yeah whatever you're comfortable with." she responded shrugging. Well he definitely seemed very professional. Nikki had to hold back a giggle when he threw Dmitry a look about filling out their employee file later. She would definitely need to stay on his good side if she wanted to continue moving up in the department.

She turned her attention back to Gidyun as he continued with the meeting now that formalities were done. Her blue eyes widened slightly as he mentioned something about the department being a total wreck before, and questioned what happened. She hadn't really kept up with what was going on at work while she had been away in Italy. She would have ask someone to catch her up later in the day after the meeting was over.

Picking up her coffee cup, Nikki took a sip of it and waited patiently as Gidyun began handing out some assignments to the other employees in the room. Her eyes drifted to door as two more employees filtered in late, and she glanced at Gidyun to see his response. Would he mad or relieved to see them?

Harland popped a peppermint in his mouth as the stack of blank forms made its way to him. He took one and passed the pile on without comment. He made a mental note to put the form somewhere he would be reminded to do it before he creased and folded it gently and put it in the front pocket of his robes.

He readjusted in his seat slightly and brought up one of his legs so that his right angle rested on his left knee as he listened to the rest of what Gidyun had to say. Harland's eyes scanned the room briefly. He was surprised to see Nikki there - she hadn't been in the office for what seemed like ages - but he let no sign of this show on his face save for the slight raising of his dark eyebrows before he turned his gaze back to the boss.

He gave Charles a grateful look and nodded taking the filled out form "Thank you, and that's just fine Dmitry." he said when he said that he'd be getting that to him as soon as he could. That's all he asked, he had enough to worry about with trying to round up other employees who were all on leave currently. Not to mention filling the spots of people who had decided to leave without any notice whatsoever.

Looking up as Bhuvana walked in he gave her a delighted smile. He hadn't expected her for a few days. So wonderful! "Welcome Bhuvana, I was just explaining how we need to update everyone's files, and doing introductions." Looking up as Harland walked in he passed him the blank form Charles had given back to him. "I need this back and filled out as soon as you are able." he said to him.

"Bhuvana this is Dmitry, our Security Council Member, Charles, ambassador, Nikki, our newest Foreign Relations officer and Harland who is our Economic and Social Council member, as well as undercover buyer." he said introducing each of them quickly.

Taking a drink from his coffee, "Their are a few new appointments here, Charles is our new Division head over seeing the Immigration office and International affairs. Cynthia, who isn't here yet...." Really hoping she'd be soon.... "Is our Magical Trade Division head, she'll be overseeing the undercover buyers and anything to do with trading standards, Harland I'm sure she'll be getting together with you often to make sure she's current on new standards that change from time to time. Finally our new liaison to the minister's offices will be Dmitry. If there is anything that you need looked into or to notify the minister or senior undersecretary, feel free to contact myself or Dmitry."

Charles' eyes raised for a second when Harland walked in. He noted that the man looked tired, but said nothing about it. However, he nodded a greeting to both Harland and Bhuvana, the new lady. Gidyun's grateful look didn't go unnoticed, nor did his complete ignorance at the fact that some of his employees were later. Though he supposed that Gidyun was just glad they'd turned up. When his name was mentioned followed by the words Division Head, Charles looked around the table to see who he'd be dealing with on a one-to-one basis.

Cynthia not being here wasn't the best start to her new job, but again, Charles chose not to comment out loud. The man who might possibly find time to fill out the form today, but definitely by the end of tomorrow was the liason? He kept any internal reaction the way it should be - internal - and nodded to Dmitry. He was happy to give him some guidance in his new job if he needed it. Charles had done that job for a while.

Dmitry had been giving Gidyun his full attention but feeling a pair of eyes on him he turned briefly to look at Charles. Who was giving him a look. What had he done wrong now? Not everyone could be as prepared as the old guy was, Dmitry hadn't even been in the country before midnight, meaning he hadn't even had the chance to grab a copy of the forms. He also wasn't going to fill them in now because that would just be rude! Raising an eyebrow Dmitry stared back at the ambassador before turning his attention to the door as two people walked in late.

Dmitry merely nodded at them in greeting before giving his attention back to the boss. Ah, so the late lady was the new employee. "Nice to meet you," Dmitry said, shooting the lady a friendly grin. He remembered what it was like to be new and hoped she'd settle in quickly.

Ahh, so he had gotten the job as liaison. Good to know. He'd have to make sure to familiarise himself better with the minister and undersecretary as well as making sure the other employees found him approachable. Though he figured he already did a good enough job seeming approachable, so mainly familiarising himself better with the Ministers Office. Dmitry returned Charles' nod with a tight smile, internally debating the merits of going to the man to ask him advice about who it would be best to approach about certain issues that may arise or simply figuring it out on his own. On one hand he knew Charles had held the job before him and so would be able to answer any questions he had; although Dmitry had been the liaison back in Russia so he did know the process, but on the other he found the older man to be insufferable. He also got the feeling that he was being judged and found wanting whenever they had to speak.

Harland looked up at Gidyun and gave him a smile of understanding. "I'll fill it out straight after the meeting, boss," he said with a slight nod in the man's direction. At least Harland wasn't making a big fuss about filling out the form like some people...

Harland tried to soften his expression a bit and raised his hand in a bit of an acknowledgment/wave at the new girl when his name and position were stated by Gidyun. New blood was always good. Not in a creepy, hazing kind of way, but in their line of work a new perspective was generally a good thing.

Licking the tip of his self-inking quill, Harland pulled out his small, sleek black notepad and began jotting down the new appointments and shufflings that had occurred over the holiday. His eyes flickered back up to where Gidyun was talking as he mentioned Harland's name. He nodded again and made a few more notes about Cynthia. He didn't know her that well, but he was sure that wouldn't be a problem. He could definitely catch her up to speed... you know... if she was actually present at work. Goodness, these people.

Nikki gave the new employee Bhuvana a welcoming smile and gave a small wave when Gidyun introduced them to her. Finally, another woman in the room! She had started wondering whether she would be stuck with all these men day in and day out at work, listening to them talk about whatever it was guys talked about. She turned her attention back to Gidyun as he explained the positions some of the other employees had received and took another sip of her coffee as she listened for anything she needed to write down.

Bhuvana nodded as she was introduced to each person individually. "Hello," she said, greeting them as a whole, before turning back to her boss. "Is there anything else I should know about?" she said in a hushed voice. She wasn't exactly in her element, being a new employee. She liked to be the one that had been there for ages, so long that people would recognize her behaviors and such. But for now, she was new. She might just have to have distinctive and memorable actions, then.

"Thank you Harland, I appreciate it." he said with a nod, when he said he'd get it filled out after the meeting. Dmitry and Harland... he noted on his notepad. "The last bit of news is we have some important people that we have that will be coming in over the next few months, that we need to make sure feel welcome and escorted around London, shown the sites and so on. They'll be coming into level 5 here at times as well. I need to make sure that the press are not aware that these people are here, but also that they feel welcome while visiting." He looked towards Bhuvana "This will be one for the Foreign relations officers and liaisons to the press, but please make sure that if you are in need of help, to let us know. Charles I know we'll be needing some help from you as well, and possible security from Dmitry." he said looking towards each of them in turn.

"We have a council meeting coming up as well this year. And we'll actually be hosting it. So keep an eye out for memos in regards to information for the meeting." He looked towards Charles again "Charles if I could see you for a moment after the meeting. Otherwise, if there's nothing else, I believe we're finished."

Charles merely gazed back at Dmitry, trying to figure out how effective he would be in his role. Would he be able to keep up with the paperwork, attend the meetings, and inform the Ministry efficiently and eloquently? The man seemed to be up to the job, even if he had given a rather long time frame for the paperwork to be done. Though giving a longer time frame than was needed was always wise - it meant you were always prepared.

Harland's decision to fill it out instantly had Charles glancing toward him, though this time it was an approving glance. His attention was drawn back to Gidyun when he mentioned important people, though. Nodding, Charles made a note in his paperwork. He would ask what languages they needed later. Orrrr... now? Charles gave the department head a curious squint of the eyes, but stayed where he was sat.

When Charles' gaze moved from him back to Gidyun Dmitry allowed himself to relax incrementally in his chair. It seemed that in this instance he'd passed muster. He could only hope he continued to do so as something told him he'd be working more closely with the older man now and for professionalisms sake they'd have to at least be able to be civil to each other. Not that Charles had ever really been uncivil in his behaviour towards him.

Tuning back into Gidyun's speech Dmitry made a few notes about what might be required security wise for the visitors that they'd have. More than likely if security was needed, and if it was needed for more than one person at the same time, then they'd need to get the MLE involved. He'd need to ask about the exact number of people that they could be expecting later. He also took down notes about the Council Meeting that they'd be hosting, hopefully more information would be forthcoming about that soon. He would have asked for more information but when Gidyun dismissed them he figured it was a good time to leave and get fill out the form for his boss.

Packing up his notes Dmitry grabbed his mug, nodding towards his boss and the others he'd just met before striding purposefully out of the conference room and towards the work area. He wondered what that looked like when it wasn't destroyed.
