The break room has recently been transformed into both a more practical and a more enjoyable space. Located down the main corridor, right between the conference room and the training room, and across the hall from the bathrooms, in here you'll find a good sized kitchen with anything you might need, including a large refrigerator and pantry, stocked with only the basics -you're expected to bring your own food and label it accordingly. There is a hot beverages station in the kitchen area, with excellent coffee (don't tell the other departments or they'll be here bugging us all the time), as well as tea and hot chocolate. The table seats eight, and there are comfortable and stylish couches gathered into a focus area for those who simply want to relax and perhaps enjoy some off-duty conversation.
But that isn't all, no, your department head has kindly provided employees with a pool table, a table tennis table, and a foosball table, all of which you may use providing you aren't actually supposed to be working.
The back corner of the break room has a smaller room, though that still is rather spacious. This room is a locker and changing room. All employees are entitled to claim a locker here, and when magical accidents occur on the job sometimes employees may need to change their clothes, so there are changing rooms for employee use too. And if you need to use those to change into fancy outfits after work, you're more than welcome to do so.
Employees who spend too much time in here however, without keeping up with their work, are liable to face disciplinary action. You are welcome to socialize with employees of other departments in here if you wish, but they MUST be accompanied by an A&C employee.

Golllllllllllly gosh.
After finishing two cups of coffee and flicking through a magazine, Eliora realised that..only ten minutes had passed. Ten minutes was a new record for her to drink two cups and gain some intelligence on men from her mag. Maybe she'd nap to pass a bit of time. It wasn't like she was wearing a skirt and would have to worry about continually adjusting it. No, she was wearing trousers and looked like a human that needed a nap.
It was probably the same time her daughter was having a nap at nursery, actually. Nap time was encouraged all day, every day. Naps, naps, naps, naps and coffee.
Curling up on one of the sofas provided, the 25 year old rested her head on her hand and closed her eyes to get a short sleep and a burst of energy for afterwards.

Rustin was headed to his locker to hang his coat up and maaaybe (definitely, hungry man is hungry) grab a few sandwiches on the way. It wasn't quite break time yet, or at least not the time he usually took a break even if he could technically take one whenever he wanted. Actually he had a bit of downtime so he'd been thinking to grab a bite, and then sit at his desk and go through some of the paperwork and get a head start on a few things since all the urgent stuff had already been cleared up and he wasn't on patrols this week or next. Kinda nice hanging around the office now that they were back anyway, and next week would see him going around his assigned departments to check in with various divisions who had business which required an obliviator to ensure procedure was being followed correctly and all of that. Red tape stuff.
Or really an excuse to go sample the food and beverages in other break rooms. Win win.
He didn't expect to come across one of his newest coworkers apparently asleep, and Rusty stopped dead in his tracks and gaped a bit. Was she asleep? Or dead maybe?

Oh, nope. No. Breathing. Definitely not dead. Drugged then? Possibly? Because who slept at work? He sort of glanced around as if to check there wasn't some kind of prank being played on him in that moment, and then looked at the woman again. Eliora right? He mentally reminded himself and then after a few moments decided that she must be asleep. So rather than there being a security breach where an employee was dead or drugged or bespelled... she was simply slacking off for reasons that he wasn't about to pry into. Though Aron might not be exactly pleased about it, if he happened to catch her at it.
But it was kinda chilly in here... rather than hang his coat up, Rusty instead gently draped it over her and then quietly went into the kitchen and made himself a couple of sandwiches. Honestly he was a pro at doing this stuff quietly too, because Lola was the sort to wake up at the SLIGHTEST noise, so he'd had to learn how to manage around that.

It was an unwritten rule that she could sleep anywhere she was given the chance to, and if you asked her she would say it was a talent. Standing up, mid conversation, in the bathroom whilst on a date, at the dinner table, on a bus, on any form of transport. Sleep may as well have been her job. However, sleeping on the job was something she didn't go out of her way today to do. Aside from today. Today...she was running on coffee and less than two hours of sleep. Whoever gave children sicknesses were the lowest of the low.
Especially sicknesses that involved sticky eyes and snotty noses. Luckily, Briar was too much of a big girl to want to sleep in Eli's bed when she was sick and hadn't been able to pass it on to her mother. Yet.
The extra layer was recognised and she shifted a little under it, stretching her fingers out just to tug it a little higher.
It didn't smell like her bed though.......
Sure, any other time she'd have just assumed she was playing sleepover at a 'friends', but nope. She was in mummy mode after being up so many times to de-snot the kid and give her honey to coat her sore throat. This was unusual. And the unusuality of it forced her to break sleep and peek.

These were going to be good sandwiches. Turkey and salad, with plenty of cheese, and stacked high on thick multigrain bread. Man sandwiches. Might have to unhinge his jaw to eat them even. He was about done with making them when she spoke and Rusty looked up, a little startled at her words.
Rustin blinked a few times and then gave Eliora a sheepish grin. "Well then, what kind of a gentleman would I be if I didn't offer breakfast?"He gestured at his sandwiches. Did she want some? He had coffee too... freshly brewed. The smell of it was juuuust starting to make itself known.

To try wake herself up a little more from the post-nap slog she was in, Eli sat up - ultimately nudging the cover (which she had now deciphered as a coat, okay, things were hard when you were asleep) into her lap. A gentleman? Well certainly, if he was going to offer her food. What person turned down food that they didn't have to make themselves. "You haven't laced it with something to make me swoon at your feet, have you?" Clearly kidding, she grinned and tucked hair behind her ears.
"What kind of no date would I be if I said no, huh? Hit me with food, Rusty." And still...she had no jokes for him that were workplace appropriate. Bummer. Her coffee senses were tingling though. More so than her attractive male sense. Coffee radar. Coffee radar.

He carried the drinks and levitated the plates with the sandwiches, then sat down next to her and offered a coffee cup.

Once upon a time, there was a Princess with perfect blonde hair who took excellent naps at the most awkward of times. Some would say her name was Aurora, others would argue it was Eliora. Playing with her hair to make sure it didn't look like she'd let her daughter do it, Eli grinned. "Only if you're hoping for swooning and a second chance at watching me sleep." She took the coffee cup with a smile as a thank you, and sipped at it.
"You could say that. Kid is all snotty, sticky eyed and likes to cough more than she breathes." So it hadn't been much of a late night, more an early start. Or that her day hadn't ended and it had just ran over into what she was right now.

He took a biiiiiiiiiig bite of his remaining sandwich and chewed it happily. Things were instantly better with food on the way to your belly. Mouth still full, he swallowed and tipped his head to one side. "I imagine there are more useful things than swooning... though that's just a guess since I can't say I've been the cause of a serious swoon before." That he knew of. Merlin. Imagine if you had swooners everywhere you went? It'd be impossible to get things done. Good thing he had no plans to, or any particular likelihood of, getting famous. At least not past that blasted bachelor article in the Daily Prophet the previous year. Thankfully the hubbub had died down on that.
"Oh." He nodded in understanding. "That's never fun. Lola, my girl, she had Pneumonia for a while last year and while she's over it now... well I ended up having to take a bit of time off work. Eli grinned at that point before taking a bite of the sandwich he'd put together. Better than nothing. She'd rather it was ham and mayo, but considering as she was too lazy to make anything for herself at work...it was perfectly fine. "S'good.." Did he want to know that? Did he need to be told these things? Was he one of those people? She knew very little.
At least she knew of someone who understood how hard it could get doing things on your own, and she nodded. "She was okay though, yeah? No lasting damage?" That was the most important thing, of course. "It's never really a holiday.." Not to get her wrong because she adored her daughter, but the thought of being at home with her because she was sick wasn't her favourite of thoughts. There were reasons she'd gotten a job again, and to have a couple of hours break was one of those.
"We're okay, thanks. Through the worst of it." Besides her cousin was a healer in training and perfectly capable of sorting things if in dire need. Definite fear of actual healers and possibly having her daughter taken away. Yep.

After a relatively quiet first morning back at work - hey, no laboratories had blown up so that was something - Aron made his way into the break room a bit earlier than he had told the rest of the department to come. Opening up the cupboards to look for a glass bowl, he set it in the middle of one of the tables and poured a bag of muggle candy into it. Placed strategically in the middle of one of the tables, Aron left it where it was and moved towards a large white board he had moved in here from the conference room that he then wrote on with dry erase marker.

Now that there were more new people for her to be encountering at work, Eliora was most definitely infected with coffee. A good infection, of course, because she was bright eyed and bushy tailed and she'd even managed to sort through some of the paperwork she'd been putting off for a while. (Some..being very little because she'd spent her time waiting for male employees of this level to bend and snap in her direction - hello there)
She BURST through the door of the break room, huge grin on her face almost expecting some sort of applause for the absolute poise and grace she carried with every floating step. Princess Eliora had arrived, and hadn't even taken a nap today. Of course, she'd just gotten Briar-Rose to stop with the napping, and so as a responsible parent, it was only fair that she stopped too. Being an adult was little to no fun. UNTIL YOU GOT THIS HUNK OF A BOSS. "Boss man!" Eli's squeal was ridiculous and her waving was probably worse. "Did you miss me? I would miss me. I'm a whole lot of fun. Have you had coffee today? Do you want coffee? Should I get us coffee? Are you going to take your shirt off at any point? Oooooh sweets! Are we allowed them? Are they a trick? QUESTIONS! OH! Is this a thing to get to know the new babies of the level?" She wasn't a level baby now. A whole year of employment and he hadn't sacked her yet. Probably because he hadn't found her napping like other people had.
After getting to the level some hours earlier thanks to Derek's assistance Sophie had spent the better part of the morning, familiarizing herself with her new workplace, and all the different rooms. It was a lot to take in and memorize.
She walked into the break room nervously pulling at her hair a few minutes before the starting time. Never mind that she had met a few of her new colleagues at the garden party Sophie still had huge butterflies in her stomach. Taking a breath, she closed her eyes momentarily before she went further into the break room where she spotted her boss Aron with another woman and candy.

Nearing them she flashed her boss a beam first. "Hello Aron, have you bought bertie botts beans? I haven't eaten those in years." she wondered with a gesture to the candy. The candy looked similiar but not quite. Gaze shifting to the woman standing beside her boss Sophie said as she stuck out a hand for a shake. "Hi, I'm Sophie. I'm new to the department."How many times would she have to repeat that line today?
Jasmine decided to make it to the gathering the boss made for his employees. As she entered the room, she noticed Aron placed some muggle candy in the center of the table. She wondered what they were. She heard Sophie ask if they were Bertie Bott's Beans and it was a good guess but Jasmine didn't think so. She smiled to her boss and greeted him with friendly smile, "Hello Aron." She noticed two other employees were there. She heard the female she didn't know talk a lot. She hoped she wasn't bothering Aron. But she sat down next to Sophie because she knew her from the garden party.
She turned to Sophie and said, "Hello Sophie...how have you been?" She saw her introducing herself to the women who seemed to have a lot of caffeine this morning. Jasmine smiled and nodded towards the women (Princess Eliora), "Hello I am Jasmine. I am new to the Charms Committee..."

Third time was the charm in finding the break room. Not at all late either from the looks of it, though a map would've been nice, y'know? Or a newbie walk through. Having a first day with a new job in a new ministry in an entirely different country, a few nerves had been expected. But now they were unwanted and could go away.
So... yes. Go away nerves.
"Afternoon,"Mary smiled, giving a hesitant wave to...everyone, whom she'd never seen before. Should've went to that garden party.

Bag over one shoulder, he went straight past his gathered coworkers and disappeared into the locker room. Dumped his bag in his locker,offloaded scarf and woolly hat, then came back out...
... munching on the other half of his sandwich.
Oh. New faces. Rusty went to the coffee machine and started making himself one.
"Anyone want some?" Eliora probably. Not that she needed it, but hey if it kept her from falling asleep at work....

Aron inhaled the candy he had been sucking on when Eliora...happened. Good Merlin what was WITH the women in the Ministry? Lodging uncomfortably in his throat, Aron began coughing and pounding on his chest to try and dislodge the thing. He was still getting oxygen at least, but that did not stop the choking noise from rattling his throat.
Waving both hands back and forth in front of his face, not in response to her question per say, Aron was just able to shoot the woman a glare and point to his throat. Little help here? This WAS her fault after all!
Thank Merlin he hadn't popped more than one in his mouth!

Making some more gargling noises, Aron made a fist and started performing the Heimlich maneuver on himself. He DID manage to shake his head no towards Sophie in regards to the candy.

Aron successfully dislodged the candy from in his throat and it went flying across the room and towards the new Obliviator. He hadn't seen where it had gone...but there was a good possibility it had been heading for her shirt.
"Hooooooooooooly holly," he barked, voice a bit cracked in places, as he rubbed his throat. THAT had certainly not been on the agenda for this mixer, but it did get him thinking about first aid training within the department and the Ministry as a whole. Might not be a bad idea. He should hit up the Head On-Call Healer about that. Perhaps they could organize some Ministry wide training sponsored by their two departments?
And there he was seeing his life over dramatically flashing before his eyes a moment ago and he was already thinking of work the next. Welcome to Magical Accidents and Catastrophes everyone!
His eyes then went to Eliora, his chiseled features looking less than amused by the majority of her questions and what her grand entrance had just caused. "I take my coffee black." If she was going to follow up on the offer.
Or Rustin, since he had just made his appearance.

A new guy (Rustin) Jasmine never met before walked into the meeting and Jasmine smiled. He seemed good looking in her eyes. She smiled and held her hand up. "I would like one light and sweet with two sugars.." She hoped she didn't sound too fancy. As Jasmine was talking to her co workers and waited for her cofeee she noticed her boss was choking...

Jasmine had no experience in you know doing life saving things. She was starting to panic but she breathed in and out and knew Aron wouldn't answer if he was okay. As she was gonna walk over and help him lodge it out, he got it out and Jasmine breathed out a sigh of relief. "Oh dear lord. Aron do not scare me on the first day.." Jasmine told him honestly. She went back to take her seat near her co workers.

Eliora had been about to welcome their level babies and say hi back to them when... well, when Aron decided to make a scene and pretend he was the sun and the world revolved around he and his choking. "They're called teeth and it's called chewing, Aron." She grinned then, giving his head a pat as he dealt with his whole issue. (She'd want to help if she wasn't too busy thinking about cooing over the little cuties that were gracing HER break room with their new little baby presence!!!)
CLAPPING her hands she swept both Sophie and Jasmine into hugs of their own and was THEN about to make her way over to the new no-named level baby (Mary) when Rusty graced them with his presence. Swooooooon. Forget the hugging. He got a waaaaave. She even had to hold back the urge to wink or blow him a kiss because that was completely unprofessional and he didn't need to KNOW he was number one on her list. Yeah, sorry Aron. Choking and making ugly choking faces had bumped him down to number...something that wasn't top five. "I'll take a-"

The two sugars part was pretty straight forward though. And Black for Aron. And as for Eliora he'd just give her coffee exactly how he made it for himself. Nothing fancy, but who needed to be fancy about it when you just needed to press a couple buttons and coffee happened for you?
And hey, he levitated them over to the appropriate people. Aron's black. Eliora's perfect just-as-Rusty-liked-it-himself, new blondie's milk with two sugars...
So new blondie was getting her 'light' coffee after all. Heh.

Mixer time! Tucker was quite enjoying all these mixers and parties and stuff. There was very little WORK involved, which was both awesome and also a bit sad, because Tucker was ready to work. Yet he was never one to turn down a good party.
As Tucker entered the room, he saw a man passing out coffee...and offering out some? He grinned and waved at the man as he entered. "If you're offering, I'll take a cup, black," he told him with a smile before holding out a hand. "Tucker Schultz, Experimental Charms Committee," he added, introducing himself. Coffee sounded like it would really hit the spot right now...and food. Where was the food?
He decided to do some more socializing before stuffing his face. He smiled and headed over to Jazz, his fellow worker that he'd met at the orientation. "Hey Jazz! Happy first day," he told her with a grin. It was FINALLY HERE! Was anyone as excited as he was?
Probably not.

Derek had spent the last few minutes in his lab since he knew the meeting (? Mixer? What was that even? He didn't know, but supposed he had to attend) wasn't going to start that soon. Actually, he had purposefully arrived earlier so he would have a chance to check on his precious lab before the meeting.
He hadn't thought too far ahead and partially regretted his decision when he remembered he'd have to enter a room full of people who would probably stare at/greet him. Sigh. The price he had to pay...
The lab technician finally entered the break room and took a quick glance around, not looking at anyone for too long just in case they thought it was an invitation to speak to him. The 30 year-old walked over to his usual seat - away from the coffee making people as they were usually the most sociable ones - and waited.
Alright, could the meeting start yet so he could go back to his lab asap?

Rusty didn't bother Derek. He'd learned not to in pretty short order really. He gave the lab dude a nod and left it at that.

Rubbing his throat one last time, he tightened his lips flat and raised an eyebrow at Eliora. The head pat, really? He wasn't a crup. Merlin help him.
At least she was being the social butterfly that he had come to expect and doing that whole girl bonding thing with the new employees. Hopefully the division wouldn't turn into gossip hour or anything of the sort.
He threw the woman an obnoxious toothy grin. Yep. Teeth. Got it.

Here Aron thought that having some new employees in his division would have been the worst that he would have to deal with. Sharing his lab was a very sensitive subject for the bloke, after all. But now he had this honking daffodil from Creatures following him around and just... well...Aron needed to make sure he had a stash of popcorn available at all times.
And to make sure the lab rat had an escape route of sorts to keep him working efficiently.
Aron threw Derek a nod, but didn't make any gestures towards the candy activity. Not yet anyway. Heh.
