Chapter 1: Secrets
Written by: HayleyHunt (Hollie)

Snape glared at me. Not a very nice glare. But he had his reasons. I just smiled weakly at him.

"Oh how you are going to be punished?" he said with no emotion on his face, but anger was showing slightly. I just stood there. What was I to do? I’d been set a task which I didn't do. A very important one at that.

Snape had Apparated the two of us to a place I didn't know. To me it looked like a densely wooded area.

"Why have you brought me here?"

"That should be the least of your worries."

I sighed and sat on a tree stump. He was right. "What's going to happen?" I asked looking at him.

He was pacing around the stump I was sitting on. "Whatever the Dark Lord will do, it will be terrifying. You’re only a child -"

"No I'm not! I'm seventeen! I’m of age!"

"Still fairly young to be a Death Eater," he said calmly.

Snape carried on pacing around the stump until he thought of something. I noticed he was really thinking hard... this wasn't going to be easy. How was he going to get around Lord Voldemort? I shuddered at his name. Snape didn't notice, he was too busy with his plan.

"Are you going to stop the Dark Lord from hurting me?"

"That's the plan."

"Why though? I thought you were on his side."

Snape walked over and sat down next to me. "’Sides’ is not a good word to use, Draco. Spy, if you like. But I don't know. Doing all this planning to stop him is against him so I guess I'm not on his 'side'."

I just stared at him, he kept muttering stuff to himself.

Half an hour later and I was half a sleep. Snape was still pacing around. Honestly doesn't he get tired?

"Right," he said, indicating me to stand up, "are you any good at Occlumency?"

"Well, Aunt Bella tried to teach me a while ago but I wasn't very ..."

"Scrap that," he said interrupting me.

"What's going on?!" I demanded.

"Shh!" he said. There was an awkward silence for a few minutes while Snape went back to his deep thinking. "Right, come on," he said as he started walking off.

"Where?"

"We're going to go to the Dark Lord; we’re going to lie to him; we’re going to keep you safe."

I gasped. Was he mad?!

"But, doesn't he know Legilimency?"

"Yes, but you've been taught Occlumency right?"

"But ...you said scrap that."

"And now I'm un-scrapping it." He half smirked. I looked puzzled at him. He sighed and carried on. "Try your best. Okay?"

"Fine." I sighed. I didn't want to go. This was worse than being given the task to kill Dumbledore-I was practically shaking inside.

Smile And here's Chapter 2!

Chapter 2: Hiding and Seeking
Written by: DracosTheBest (Sky)

We walked for a while until we reached a particularly dark place in this wooded area.

“You know how to Apparate, don’t you?” Snape asked me.

“Yes, I do but I haven’t got my license yet.” I told him. I figured I might as well tell him the truth than risk messing everything up again.

“That’s fine. I will assist you.” Snape said in nonchalant tone.

He began to pace around again. This might take a while I thought to myself. I made my way to a nearby tree stump to sit down. Just as I was about to sit, Snape shouted, “Come here! We’re leaving.”

I walked over to Snape feeling completely tired.

“Now, I need you to hold on to my arm very tightly.” Snape announced to me.

I walked over to him and grabbed his arm. My heart was thumping very fast. I guess I was slightly scared.

I felt Snape’s arm slip from my grasp so I tightened my grip. I was probably cutting all the circulation from his arm but I didn’t care. I was going to ask Snape how he was going to Apparate me and himself to wherever we were going, but the next thing I knew everything went black. Then I began to feel the worst sensation ever. I felt like I was being pressed very hard from all directions. I could not breathe, it was as if there were iron bands tightening around my chest. Just when I thought I was about to suffocate, the iron bands seemed to burst open and I was standing in a dark deserted street, breathing in a lung full of air. I looked next to me and there stood the man with long, greasy, dark hair.

“I thought I was just about to die.”

“Yes, that is the negative side of Apparating.” He chuckled.

I smirked at his response and ran my hand over my white-blonde hair. As I did, I looked ahead and saw an old, battered house.

I knew exactly where we were. Fear crept inside my body. ‘The Riddle House’ they called it. That house had been abandoned for years and now the Dark Lord was using it as his headquarters. Snape began to walk towards the house. I followed him trying to keep up. He was walking incredibly fast.

“Hurry up Draco. Run if you mus,t but I need you to stay by my side,” he barked at me. I was feeling so tired, I didn’t feel like running but I knew I was safe next to him. “When we get to the house,” Snape said, “I need you to shut your mouth and follow my lead. Use Occlumency at all times.”

I nodded. I didn’t feel like talking. I was so scared I felt like throwing up. A few minutes of silence passed between us. My thoughts went back to the scene in the Astronomy tower; Dumbledore’s voice still fresh in my mind. What if I had accepted Dumbledore’s help? Where would I be right now? Where would Snape be? What is going to happen to me?

We had reached the door. Snape looked around to make sure no one was watching and took out his wand. I was feeling unprotected so I did the same. Snape looked around one last time and then flicked his wand seven times. Nothing seemed to happen but then the door slid open.

I felt a sudden cold gust of wind.

“Go in,” the ex-Potions teacher instructed me.

At that moment I wished I could have been anywhere in the world but here. I hesitated, I felt Snape give me a little push, and then I went in. The house was very dark, too dark if you ask me. There was a faint light coming from a room at the end of the corridor.

“Follow me,” Snape said.

My legs felt like jelly but I followed. As we got closer to the door, my dark mark began to sting. And there it was--the door was slightly ajar. Snape pushed it open and then walked in. I followed with immense effort and then tried to hide myself behind Snape.
“My Lord, I have arrived,” Snape announced, talking to someone sitting in an armchair facing the wall.

The Dark Lord stood up and faced us. His face was hard to read but I could tell he was both happy and angry.

“What took you so long?” he asked.

“Sorry, my Lord. Potter made it difficult for us to get back soon.” Snape responded.

The Dark Lord looked at Snape, rolled his eyes, and then nodded. He then seemed to realize I was there.

“Well, well, well, if it isn’t Draco Malfoy. Tell me Draco--how did it feel to kill Dumbledore?”

His voice sent shivers down my spine. I looked into his red, snake-like eyes, but then looked away quickly and cleared my mind of all thoughts.

“My Lord, sorry to interrupt, but you clearly know well that Draco could not kill Dumbledore. I killed him.” Snape was careful not to anger the Dark Lord with this proclamation.

“And why, did you kill him Severus? You know perfectly well I gave that task to Draco!” Voldemort barked at Snape.

“Yes but you knew Draco wouldn’t be able to do it. So I thought I should-to have that old man out of your way,” Snape replied. The Dark Lord stared at Snape as I tried to make myself invisible. “Plus, my Lord, Dumbledore is gone and that’s all that matters. If Draco had not gotten the Death Eaters into Hogwarts as a distraction, I probably would have been unable to kill him.”

The Dark Lord suddenly started laughing in a loud shrieking way which made me feel worse than when he talked. “You are right Severus,” he said. “Now that Dumbledore is dead it should give me a clear path to get rid of that Harry Potter once and for all.”

I felt a slight feeling of relief, but then I felt my heart drop to my stomach when the Dark Lord stooped down, his face inches away from mine. I saw Snape’s hand move to his wand out of the corner of my eye.

“You will be punished, Draco,” the Dark Lord sneered, “you did not complete the task I assigned you. I will not kill you, but you will be punished.”

I felt like peeing my pants but I did not want him to see my fear, so I smirked as a response. And as soon as I did, I felt a white-hot, whip-like something hit me across the face and I fell backwards onto the hard floor. I looked up at Snape who was looking at the Dark Lord with disgust.

“Take him upstairs to the room at the end of the corridor,” he instructed an evil smirk on his face.

Snape pulled at my robes to get me to stand up and in an instant we were making our way upstairs. We reached the room at the end of the corridor. It was a very small, cramped room that smelled humid and moldy. Snape pushed me in and before leaving he said, “Don’t worry. I’ll keep you safe.”

I saw him walk towards the door, feeling grateful that at least this greasy, hooked-nosed man liked me.

There was a bang and Snape was gone.

And I'm back with Chapter 3!
Sorry for the wait, I did not, by any means, mean to leave my chapter up for more than a week. I've just been super busy lately.

Chapter 3-Humbled
Written by: Linda Black (Linda)

I got very little sleep that night. The bed was hard, there was no pillow and there was a strange, musty odor in the room. On top of that, there were no curtains over the window and the light came streaming in very early in the day, making it virtually impossible for me to rest any longer. Sighing, I set my feet down on the cold, hard wood floor and walked towards the door. Already, I could hear the sound of conversation coming from the other end of the corridor. I shuddered.

I had just ventured a few steps out the door, not really certain where I was going, when Snape came walking in my direction. "Come with me, the Dark Lord wishes to speak with you immediately," he told me in no uncertain terms.

I groaned. Undoubtedly this was turning out to be one of the worst experiences of my life, if not the worst!

Snape and I walked together down the corridor to the room we had gone to the previous day, the room which He occupied. I entered the room cautiously, anxious not to offend the Dark Lord in any way. There was no telling what he might do to me.

"I trust you had a good night's sleep, Draco," the Dark Lord commented to me in a sarcastic tone, knowing full well that I had quite the opposite. "I have called both of you here this morning to let you know that I have decided on Draco’s fate. I set an important task for you and you failed me miserably, much like your father failed me when I set him to obtain the prophecy for me. I assure you that your father will be dealt with in due time, as well. For the time being, I have only you to deal with."

What is coming next? I wondered with dread. I felt a trickle of sweat run down my forehead, despite the fact that it wasn't a very warm day at all.

"I am not one to be toyed with! My will must be carried out!” thundered the Dark Lord. I braced myself but was unprepared to deal with what happened next. He turned and yelled the dreaded word "Crucio" and my whole world went black. Pain shot through my brain and body in unrelenting waves, I never knew it was possible to feel that much pain. In an instant it was over. I dropped to the floor in relief. I did notice that Snape glanced over at me, relieved to see that I was still breathing.

"Now you have felt a taste of what happens when you defy me," the Dark Lord continued. "I think that will be enough for now. However, your punishment is not entirely over. You are to remain here in this house and work as a servant. You are to clean, cook and maintain this house for myself and all the Death Eaters who come and go through this door until such time as I deem you have paid for your mistake. Do you understand me, boy?"

Somehow, I managed to get to my feet. "Yes, my Lord," I answered, my voice shaking.

"Well, we will see how well you perform. Remember, I will not tolerate any disloyalties," the Dark Lord answered me with a thinly veiled threat. "Now Severus, we need to discuss business. Soon, we will be freeing our fellow Death Eaters from Azkaban to fight for our final victory. I want you to get in touch with Bellatrix as well as Fenrir and have them ready to conduct the raid on Azkaban. It should be easy, after all the Dementors have now joined our side and there are very few Aurors on duty, and the few that are at Azkaban are very poorly prepared to put up any resistance against us. Go, and spread the word that the final battle is fast approaching."

"Yes my Lord," Snape replied. "I will get on this right away. Come with me, Draco."

I followed Snape out of the room, never happier to leave anyone's presence than I was the Dark Lord's.

We walked back toward the far end of the corridor once again, near the room where my miserable bed was located. Just before we reached it, Snape turned the knob on a door to a room I had not previously noticed and beckoned me inside. This room contained a desk with writing materials and was more nicely furnished than I would have imagined.

"This is my office while I am here at the Riddle House," Snape told me. "You will know where to find me if you need me. I suggest you go about your duties as best as you can and be grateful that your punishment wasn't any worse than it was. But don't worry; he will not hurt you any more."

"As reassuring as that is, how do I know that for sure? This guy seems really into pain or something," I said with a smirk.

”Just trust me," Snape answered.

I hated cleaning the Riddle House and I did my best to have as little contact with the Dark Lord as I possibly could. Every now and then he would call me into his room to fulfill some small task. Once he even asked me to fetch his socks! I didn't know the Dark Lord wore socks... For the most part he left me alone. I was greatly relieved for that. I wondered how long my enslavement would continue. I had been raised in a lifestyle where others waited on me hand and foot and I didn't care at all that the situation had now been reversed.

I entered Snape's office a few mornings later to receive a big surprise. Snape was sitting at his desk writing a message to someone. He prepared to roll the parchment and stopped suddenly as I entered the room. I could tell that he was trying to hide something and I really wanted to know what it was. I noticed the parchment was addressed to the Order of the Phoenix. "What are you doing?” I asked softly.

"Draco, listen to me carefully," Snape called me close to him. "There are many things you don't know about me, things that know one will ever understand, probably not even myself. But I will swear to you this much, I will keep you safe and that my allegiance has never wavered. Do you understand?"

"Do you mean that Dumbledore was right about you, that you were always working for the Order and that's why he always trusted you?" I asked. I couldn't quite believe I was hearing this.

"Well, you are more astute than I thought," Snape answered me dryly. I felt my pulse quicken. I wasn't much impressed with the Dark Lord's style and I was hoping for some revenge. If Snape were really working for the Order, then the Dark Lord would definitely pay for what he had done to me. I never wanted to kill Dumbledore in the first place and I knew that Snape had only done it because it was what Dumbledore himself wanted. I didn't really understand that, but I knew it was true.

"I plan to get us out of here as quickly as possible," Snape told me further. "Do not question it. You must follow as I say."

Boy, it seemed like everyone was ordering me around lately. When was it going to end? Well, anything was better than making beds and cleaning the filthy Riddle House, I decided. Besides, Snape had always shown himself to be on my side. All I could do was continue with my duties as if I knew nothing and wait until something happened to change things.

Chapter 4 - Draco's Dilemma
Written By: hp_lvr01 (Bells)

I continued my horribly uninteresting life. My days were filled with cleaning and keeping the large Riddle house in order then going to a hard bed every night. Naturally, such a life gave me much time to think, although this wasn’t necessarily a good thing. All I could do was wonder what Snape was planning and if we would ever get out of this hell.

As the days passed I grew more anxious, till finally, one day I was called in by Snape. He was sitting at his desk again. The last time I saw him like this he was writing to the Order.

“Yes sir,” I said as I walked in. I honestly didn’t know what to think. Had he actually found a way to escape from this whole ordeal?

“I need you to do an errand.” I hung my head; of course, an errand. What was I thinking? Escape? Yeah, right! Snape continued, “Go to the Hog’s Head. Someone will meet you there, give them this,” he handed me a rolled up parchment; “you shall learn what to do next yourself.” All I could do was stare, “Now get going! You shall be transported through Floo Powder.”

I jumped into reality. “Yes sir, right away!” I turned to leave.

“And Draco,” I turned to face the greasy haired man again, “don’t be stupid. You know what you should do. But don’t expect to be accepted.” I nodded although I had no idea what he meant.

All I could think about was getting out of this house.

I stepped into the hallway then almost sprinted down the corridor. Finally I reached the room with the Floo Powder. Grabbing a handful I stepped into the fire place.

“Hog’s Head!” I yelled, making sure it was articulated clearly. I didn’t breath in while I was transported; I had enough memories of accidentally choking on ashes. Within seconds I was on the floor of a dark, dirty pub. The man behind the counter glanced at me then looked away. I stood up and wiped the soot off of me. It was pretty much empty in the small tavern I noticed as I looked around. There was a drunken man in the corner whispering to a dog – he seemed to be scaring a house elf working nearby. A group of three men in the center of the room were talking and laughing loudly, they also looked drunk. In the last corner was a woman turned away from me. Her hair was brown and slightly bushy; something about it seemed very familiar.

I heard her whisper to herself as she watched the house elf. “Honestly, making a creature slave cleaning all day! Atrocious!”

As I heard those words something clicked. It was Granger.

That can’t be her! But I knew it was. Go talk to her!

No! Why should I?

You do want to join the Order don’t you? Finally be safe?

But-

Go do it!

While I was having my little internal battle Snape’s words slipped into my mind. ‘Don’t be stupid. You know what you should do.’

See? He’s right.

Shut up.

I groaned and took out the piece of parchment. I then walked up to her, “Well, well, well, what do we have here? I didn’t expect to see you around in a place like this.”

She looked at me confused, “Do I know you?” She didn’t recognize me!

“Oh come now Granger, I haven’t changed that much.” I said with my signature sneer.

A look of realization crossed her face before she groaned, “What are you-”

I cut her off by handing her the note. She read it quickly then seemed to reread it. With a sigh she said, “So you’re our new recruit?” Before I could answer she continued, “Now I understand why I was chosen to get you instead of Ron. Well, I guess we should be off.”

I was suddenly confused.

“Weasley - wait off where?” I said trying not to sound as clueless as I actually felt.

She rolled her eyes as if everything was obvious, the stupid know-it-all. “Well if Ron came here he would have cursed you after one glance. Now shush! We can’t talk here.”

I questioned her for a little while longer but she wouldn’t tell me anything so I gave up. Honestly this woman is as stubborn as a mule! We walked out of the pub and then she grabbed my hand, “Granger what-” then I felt it. Pressure came down from all sides, I closed my eyes. It was constricting me. Then the feeling left as fast as it had come and I took a deep breath.

“A little warning next time!” I said to her loudly but she gave me a look that said ‘shut your mouth’ and walked off toward a row of houses. She did a quick spell and it seemed as though the houses broke apart. Without a word she walked forward once again. I followed her towards some awkward looking muggle houses. Things were about to change for me, I could feel it.

Chapter Five: Proving Himself
Written by: DanIsMyMan (Tara)

“Where are we going!??” I hissed at Granger as she pulled me further down the road.

“Shut up Malfoy or I will curse you into eternity!” Granger barked. I quickly shut up, not daring to cross over Granger’s authority. She was a bright witch, and the Gods only knew what she could do to torture me.

“Wand at the ready.” Granger muttered.

I quickly retrieved my wand, pointing it into the darkness in front of me.

“Stay close.” Granger whispered, taking my hand into hers.

I stood close to her like she told me to. Disobeying Granger reminded me of disobeying Voldemort. And I didn’t feel like having to endure that pain. Granger halted and tapped her wand twice on the ground. She stood back up and slowly but surely, a house appeared in front of us.

“What the--”

“It’s the Headquarters to the Order,” Hermione announced.

I nodded and followed her inside the house. It was old, dark, damp, and dusty.

“Isn’t this the-”

“House of Black?” Hermione cut me off. “Yes, it is. Sirius gave it us to use. And now that he has passed on, Harry owns it. So naturally he let us have it.”

“But shouldn’t it-”

“Enough with the questions, Malfoy!” she yelled.

I quickly silenced myself, promising to only talk when needed. Honestly, Granger scared me a bit.

“Well, well, if it isn’t our best friend, Malfoy,” someone called from upstairs.

I looked up to see Harry staring down at me, a sarcastic smirk playing across his face. It was all I could do to contain myself and not retaliate. But I had to behave. I wanted to be here, on the good side with Snape. And if it meant having to endure pain at the hands of the Mudblood, Potter, and the infamous sidekick Weasel, then sadly, I’d do it. I had to keep reminding myself it was for the greater good.

“Are you ready?” Hermione asked me.

“Ready for what?” I questioned.

“You are joining us in destroying the final Horcrux of Voldemort. We are going to kill his snake, Nagini,” Hermione announced.

They were geniuses! I completely forgot about her being a Horcrux! I felt like a dumbstruck idiot!

“Well then why do you need me?” I asked.

“Because you know where she is hidden,” a voice called.

I looked up again to see the infamous Weasel standing next to Potter. He, too, smirked down at me and waved. I bet they all knew this was pure torture to me! I could tell they were enjoying it. Revenge was etched in all their faces.

“Aren’t there supposed to be more people in the Order?” I asked.

“There are, but we are the only ones going,” Harry announced, nonchalantly.

“Well then--” I muttered, getting annoyed by Potter’s attitude.

“Not so fast Malfoy! It will be best for you if you loose the attitude and behave like the civilized wizard we know you aren’t,” Potter taunted.

I bit my bottom lip to refrain myself from replying.

“That’s what I thought,” Potter smirked.

Oh honestly! He was almost as bad as Voldemort! I could see the two of them, sitting in a bright, sunlit tea room, sipping tea out of fancy little pink cups with their pinkies raised and conversing over which way they enjoyed torturing me the most. I shuddered at the thought.

“Are you ready?” Granger asked.

I nodded and before I knew it, Potter and Weasley were standing in front of us. Granger once again grabbed my hand, and I felt like I was being suffocated again. But right when I was about to run out of breath, we arrived at the Riddle house.

“Now where exactly is the snake?” Potter questioned, looking over at me.

“Voldemort keeps her hidden in a room towards the back of the house,” I announced. The room was right next to mine. I shivered at the thought of the little hole in a wall I called my room.

“Take us to it,” Granger demanded.

I nodded and the Golden Trio followed me into the house.

Quietly, we walked into the room where the snake lived. The snake lived like royalty. It’s a snake for God’s sake! Not a king! The stupid thing had its own bed! I’d make it sleep in the woods if it was me!

I looked around, but the snake was no where to be found. I stepped forward, allowing the others in the room. We looked everywhere, but the snake wasn’t in sight. All of a sudden, I heard a hiss and turned to see a pair of long, pearly white fangs launch themselves toward Granger. They were almost at her left calf..... I whispered, “Avada Kedavra!”

The snake dropped dead, an empty look in its red eyes. Granger gasped and Potter and Weasley looked up at me with wide eyes and gaping mouths. Quickly, Granger flung herself into my arms, gripping my neck in a tight embrace. Over and over again she whispered, “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

“It was nothing,” I replied, awkwardly patting the back of her head. I had barely received hugs in my life, so I didn’t know what to do. I just stood there, dumbfounded.

“Well then, that pretty much sums it up. Welcome to the Order,” Potter announced. He shook my hand and grabbed my arm, apparating me, Granger, Weasley and himself back to the Order.

Cool New Chapter...

Sorry I haven't posted in forever guys!
I'm going to split up Chapter 6 into parts because someone *coughAriacough* got a little carried away.
So enjoy and leave comments!

Chapter Six: Last Call
By: Eerised (Aria)

Living at the Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, I soon came to realize, was not all rainbows and sunshine. The house was no cleaner than the Riddle House, although the people and food were. Here I never worried about finding dust in my food or snake skin for that matter.

I was not trusted in the least by the majority of the members; however, I did notice that the Golden Trio were the warmest to me. It’s amazing what saving someone’s life can do for your reputation.

I was actually allowed in the meetings, though I was forced to stay in the house. This bothered me to an extent, but it was for my own good. If Voldemort found me, I shudder to think of the consequences.

In truth the only drawback to living at Headquarters was…the cleaning.

I thought I’d escape it once I’d escaped the clutches of You-Know-Who, but apparently, it was common, even amongst those who stood against him, to do their own laundry and amazingly, there was no glory in doing house work.

On the other hand, I got to watch Potter and his friends brought down as well, forced to clean along with me, though they did do it less. Granger was almost always ranting about house-elves and how unfair it was for them. She’d even cornered me one day, sick and tired of my complaining and shouted about the creatures.

“Maybe now you know what it’s like, you’ll think better of them!” Apparently, saving her life wasn’t enough to make me immune to her ‘spew rants’ as Weasley called them. He and Potter had laughed themselves something sick--or at least I hope they got sick--after Granger’s little tirade. They all enjoyed seeing me miserable, even if I was an ally.

But it was better than nothing and certainly better than Voldemort.

“Dinner’s ready,” Potter said, standing in the door way, watching me as I worked. He’d been off doing something or other for the Order, so he had been saved from doing the dirty work. He was smirking in an odd fashion and even though I’d grown accustomed to his presence, it was rather irksome. To be honest, it was because he sort of frightened me, more so than Granger, who I was sure reminded me of Voldemort.

“Right,” I muttered, trying not to look at him. I continued to clean the dirty window in the drawing room, trying hard not to rise to his bait.

Potter sighed. “You know, Malfoy that means you can stop.”

I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of knowing how tired and hungry I was. There he was, standing in the door way all handsome and rugged, dirt smeared all over his face, blood dripping—blood? That was cause for pause. I turned to look at him and indeed, he was bloody and bruised, but he looked pleased with himself nonetheless.

He must have noticed that I was staring, because he turned a distinct shade of red.

“What?” he asked, looking mildly uncomfortable.

“You’re bleeding.”

“Oh, good observation skills. Ten points to Slytherin.”

I rolled my eyes at him. “What happened?”

“Nothing. Found a Death Eater. Put him in Azkaban where he belongs.”

Nothing? He called that nothing?!? I finally had proof that Potter was off his rocker and I had no one to share it with. Taking down Death Eaters was not nothing, bleeding onto my nice clean floor was not nothing, mucking up my rugs with dirt from a battle with a Death Eater, one of Voldemort’s supporters was not nothing! But here he was, doing all of the above, acting as though it were nothing! I hated him.

I think the silence must have been grating on his nerves, or perhaps my wide-eyed stare, because he coughed and spoke, “You don’t need to look so… just stop looking at me like that.”

I blinked, but did not avert my gaze. Picking up my wand, I cleaned the cloth, till it was pure white once again, and beckoned Potter into the room. He didn’t move; he was eyeing my wand, suspiciously.

“Keep acting like that Potter and you might turn into Moody next.” Sarcasm had always been my best defense mechanism. Even if others saw it as cruelty, I saw it as protection and it had never failed me. Potter raised his eyes to look at me. “Just sit down; I’m not going to hex you.”

Potter did as I instructed which took me by surprise. I sat down next to him, tapped the cloth with my wand, making the rag drip with water.

“You should have cleaned up before you walked through the house, you know.” Something was seriously wrong with me. I was actually going to clean Potter’s cuts. The Order had officially turned me into one of its own Potter worshipping members.

“Why would I do that when you could do it for me?” he asked. A smirk was playing his lips, but he seemed unsure.

“Oh, great! First the Dark Lord now you,” I muttered angrily, attacking his face, rather more roughly than intended and rubbing away a bit of the already dried blood. “I’ve had enough ordering around for one life time,” I said, then I put on a high pitched, albeit slightly girlish falsetto. “’Draco do my laundry! Draco that sock has a stain on it!’ ‘Malfoy get me dinner! Clean up my bloody face!’” I scrubbed a bit more furiously and Potter winced.

“Calm down, I was only jokin’.”

I scoffed. “A likely story.” I s’posse I believed him, because after that I was more gentle, not that he deserved it. I think I spent a good hour taking care to clean his cuts up properly and I still don’t know why I bothered. Mrs. Weasley wasn’t at all pleased when we finally managed to get down to dinner, although she was glad to see Har—Potter—in good condition.

Weasley and Granger gave the two of us searching looks, but Potter shrugged. I think Weasley suspected me of poisoning him; Granger just eyed me curiously.

Later that night, crawling into my warm bed, (a comfort afforded to the good guys, apparently), I had to smile just a bit. Perhaps we hadn’t all started out on the same side, or even as friends, but for whatever reason, it seemed things were looking up.

I suddenly remembered my second time meeting Ha—Potter—on the train to school. My offered hand of friendship swam to the front of my mind; his face, in an expression of disgust was next, but soon, I wasn’t looking at the eleven year old boy who’d rejected me. I was remembering tonight, mere hours ago, Potter looking at me, curiously, but no lingering hate or disgust.

Perhaps we’ll be friends, I thought as I drifted off to sleep.

Default 1=20? What?

-blush- I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I always get caried away with fanfiction! haha. I can't wait for the rest of chapter six to be posted! I know sending it out in a PM was... a bit of work. -cough-

I write too much, I know. But what can I say.

Although when one chapter is twenty pages long something must be wrong with you....hehe.

How many parts are you splitting it into?

-waits for the rest of her chapters-

Oh, this means once this chapter is all posted, that we just have the epilogue and then it's done! It was such a good story-- I already know how it ends since I wrote that... hehe.

I had so much fun working on it!

Can't wait--even though I already know-- for the update!

This fan fic is so good and I know nothing has been posted in a really long time, but it looked like it had already been finished and the rest was supposed to be posted. Anyone know what happened? I really want to read the rest!
