The playful drawl of carousel music leads you to an open stable area instead of the flashing multicolored lights and circular platform that you had probably been expecting. That is not the only thing unusual around these here parts either. Instead of the usual faux horses, hippopotamuses, otters, and multiple other animals found on muggle carousels, you are greeted by enchanted statues of hippogriffs, griffins, unicorns, dragons, blast-ended skrewts, thestrals, and even sphinxes. The hippogriffs expect you to bow before riding them, the unicorns whinny, the dragons breathe fire, the blast-ended skrewts toot flames, the thestrals flap their bat-like wings, and the sphinxes claw at the ground and may ask you a riddle or two.
Each animal is equipped with a saddle, seat belt, and golden pole to hold on to while you ride. Where to exactly? Around the festivities of course! Each of the life-like statues has been enchanted to not roam outside the boundaries of the Summer Street Fest. They should, in theory, prance around the perimeter but do not be surprised if they create their own paths - especially the dragons.
So step right up, select your creature, and enjoy the ride.

Minerva's eyes were wide and bright. She was so excited to be out and she loved festivals. She was so looking forward to the Castle one back in Germany, but this was going to be fun as well and maybe they would see some of their friends while out. She knew she had kept a low profile this summer just relaxing at home.. Well Ethan's home at least. Other than a few Diagon Alley shopping trips which she had stopped because she didn't want to spend anymore money and a few visits with friends Min really hadn't done anything at all.
Minerva held onto Ethan's hand tightly as her eyes darted around to everything. How had she never been to a magical festival before. The seventeen year old had spent the last seven years in the wizarding world you would think she would have hit up a festival, but no she had only ever been to muggle ones. "This is going to be so fun. I'm really glad you asked me to come. " She gave Ethan a quick glance before her focus went back to the world around her. Stopping as she saw the Carousel she gasped, "They move around and not just in a circle?" Why was this so surprising had she not had enough surprises in this world that it shouldn't phase her.
Stopping she turned to Ethan and bounced at his arm a bit like a child at Christmas. "Can we go on that.. please.." She leaned up kissing his cheek to nuzzle her way into getting to ride the carousel even though she knew she probably didn't have to butter him up he would agree to it anyway.

Grinning a bit at Minerva, somewhat amused at how excited she was, Ethan kept his fingers wrapped around her hand as they headed towards the street festival. It had been a while since he had been to one of these and he was a little surprised they didn't do it every year. Though he supposed it was better that way.. made it more something to look forward to.
"I think it will be fun," he said, smiling back at her as she looked at him, before glancing at some of the more colorful attractions as the walked further. "I haven't been to one of these since I was a kid." The castle festival he went to at least every other year didn't really count and he didn't really mean the Muggle one she had taken him to last year during his challenge in the States, because this was something different than either of those.
Hearing her gasp, he turned his head, following her gaze and slowly grinning upon catching sight of the carousel. "Oh, yeah.. I almost forgot about those." Memories of five year old Ethan filtered through his mind as he remembered riding one of the sphinxes many years ago. He turned and chuckled a little at how excited his bouncing girlfriend was, grinning at the kiss on the cheek. "Sure, we can go on them," he said, leading her a bit closer to the attraction. "The dragons seat two.. do you want to ride on that one with me or each get our own?" He looked at her expectantly, wondering which she would choose, but either was alright with him.

This whole place looked so unbelievably epic, she wanted to try everything, go everywhere, eat everything--so long as it wasn't provided for by the school (last term was enough, thanks and this was in aid of them) but first, she needed to find Forrest. He'd said he'd meet her here...she just didn't remember where he said...this place wouldn't be so bad. It was certainly noticeable.
Lex walked over to the carousels. After getting a good look she could have squealed. Enchanted! The animals were enchanted!! This...this just made it so much better and Forrest needed to show up soon.
For now she would get in line so they wouldn't have to wait once he got here. Er...if he got here. Maybe she should have read the owl again. What if there was a meeting place??

A carousel! Adi looked at all the various animals excitedly. It looked so cool! He loved carousels and he had ridden on both magical and muggle ones before. He liked the wizarding one a lot more because of the animals. "I wanna ride the sphinxes!'' he said aloud, jumping up and down. "No wait! The Unicorns! Noooo! They're for girls!''
Adi could not make up his mind. "Hippogriff! Hippogriff!'' he said, finally. Yes! He wanted to go on a Hippogriff. He thought they were one of the coolest animals ever!

After ditching agreeing to meet in front of the entrance in 5 hours with his mother, Forrest squealed silently and ran with glee to--wait, where was he going to run? Did they... they didn't arrange a meeting point. Uh-oh. His glee decreased a little. How was he going to find her in this crowd--was that a dragon?! His eyes went its double size and he gasped. IT INDEED WAS! Panic forgotten, he ran to its direction, and he was breathless due to gasping way too much in wonder every time he saw an enchanted animal.
"THIS IS SO COO--Oof!"
He had ran into something solid HARD, and he fell to the ground, probably knocking the thing with himself.
"Aaah!" Somebody help? He hadn't even ridden the animals yet!

She was getting closer and closer to the front but there was still no sign of Forrest. If things continued like this she'd have to allow more people to go ahead of her in the line then all the dragons and hippogriffs would be taken. Quite the dilemma this was but she wouldn't go on the ride without him. Definitely not. No matter how cool this looked she would stand right here and wai--

Something or someone knocked right into her, causing her to stagger a bit. Were she paying even less attention she might have toppled over but Lex managed to remain standing. Couldn't say the same for whoever had hit into her though. Speaking of, who was the little bugger that nearly got her KILLED?
Glancing down, the scowl instantly left her face. "Forrest!!!" BEAM! She reached down, offering him a hand to help him up. "You found me! Just in time too, we're almost at the front of the line." A line they'd somewhat disrupted with the bumping and falling that had people stepping back. "You're not hurt, right?" The force he hit into her with diiid hurt so she was hoping he was fine.

Eyes continuing to dance she looked back at him, "Maybe your parents should have come with us. They could have joined us if they wanted." She wouldn't have minded them around, but it was nice to be alone with Ethan as well.

He said that he was fine with going on them and he didn't feel dorky or anything. Min was super excited and she couldn't help but show her excitement. "Let's do the dragon if it can fit both of us. Now these just go on their own. Like around... not in the circle like the ones at the fair we were at in Tennessee?" She just couldn't get over that even if she had been around magic long enough to not think it was different. "Do you think they have a Ferris Wheel? That would be fun to go on as well." She smiled at him and stopped turning to face him. "Maybe later we could play some games."

She was glad she went with the jeans instead of the summer dress she was thinking about wearing. Pushing her hair back off her shoulder she grabbed Ethan's hand again. "You've done this before.. .lead the way."

Forrest put his hand dramatically over his forehead and closed his eyes for a few seconds. He couldn't dare look into the person's eyes. He just could--
Wait, he recognised the voice! He opened one eye and squinted against the sunshine. The person--she--hadn't been knocked off with the impact. It took him another second to see the face, since the angle of the Sun left her in shadow. It was--"ALEXA!" He let out a sigh of relief, stopped being dramatic with immediate effect, and took her hand to get up. "That's great!" He got up and dusted himself off. His head was kiiiinda dizzy, but WHO CARED THEY WERE GONNA RIDE A DRAGON!
"I'm PERFECT." He grinned so widely that she could see all his teeth. He refused to look at people nearby to avoid apologising, and focused merely on Alexa.
"How are you? What animal will we run? Are you excited tooooo? This fair's ah-mazing, don't you think?"
Minerva watched as she listened to Ethan, he hadn't been to one since he was a kid. A child version of Ethan running around the area popped into Min's mind and she chuckled thinking about it. Eyes continuing to dance she looked back at him, "Maybe your parents should have come with us. They could have joined us if they wanted." She wouldn't have minded them around, but it was nice to be alone with Ethan as well.

"Yeah.. it's been a while since I rode one, but they're, for the most part, supposed to travel around the perimeter of the fair.. I guess it's kinda in a circle.." He thought about the one they rode last year, this being somewhat different but he was sure she'd like this too. And good.. she wanted to ride the dragon.. he thought it would be fun to ride on one together, though the other way would work too..
The 18 year old turn his eyes away and slightly upward. "I don't see a ferris wheel.." Those were usually fairly tall that you could see them from a distance. "But we can do whatever you want.. And stay as long as you want," he said with a smile as he turned back towards her. He was certain they were going to have a lot of fun today. "Sure.. we can play games too."
Ethan followed her towards the charmed animal statues, his eyes falling over the different types before looking at the dragon, then back to her. "Um.." he began, looking around and taking her hand. "I think that girl is in charge.." He pointed to the worker with his other hand, then started to approach her, leading Minerva with him.

Now that she knew it was Forrest she was very concerned so she watched him carefully. She didn't know what a concussion looked like but the moment he started talking, she knew he didn't have one. Excellent! People with concussions probably weren't allowed on the ride. They'd have to sit out and miss the fun. Lex stood smiling while he went rambling. It was kinda like one of those proud moments where she would tell herself he had a bit too much candy just to make the rambling seem more impressive to her.
"The dragon! We have to get a dragon one, okay?? If not then we totally have to bow to a Hippogriff before they all get taken too!!" Those were the coolest ones there in her opinion...but she was being pushy..."Unless you had another one in mind." In which case she was still taking one of her choices and they could have a race.
It would have been more fun sharing one and soaring all over together, just saying.
"As for how I am, couldn't be better!! This fair, epic definitely." As they approached the front of the line, she began looking around for an open one. "You see one that we want???"

Forrest had NO idea what a Hippogriff was, but every muggle kid knew a dragon. His eyes shone at the mention, as if they weren't already bright enough, and let out a victorious "YES!"

"I think we can." She walked around the dragon, giving it serious looks before stopping at his side again. "Neither of us is that big. I don't think we should have a problem both fitting. Hop up and I'll see if I can fit afterwards."
He was really excited about the dragon, if they couldn't both fit, she'd let him ride it and she'd find something. It wasn't that big a deal. But that was only if they couldn't both fit.

Filled with the typical excitement a eleven year old child would have at the site of a merry-go-around, Abbi raced forward and tried to get closer. It was only when she was right beside the carousel that she realized it wasn't like the usual ones she had seen. There were no horsies or elephants, not even tigers. There were odd things. Some Abbi could immediately tell what they were which definitely included the unicorns and the dragons, but the other stuff looked very strange to her and maybe even a little scary.
Head scratch. Pause. Wait. WERE THEY MONSTERS? STAAARE.
"Donny?!" Donny?!" She called for her best friend whom she was here with. He ought to know about this thing. He knew EVERYTHING about witches and Abbi would only believe it if it came out his mouth which was clearly because he even PINKY promised to death he'd never lie to her.
Did the Dolphin know what these creatures were then? Hmm?

Forrest eyed the seatbelt mechanism, and forced his brain to solve how to buckle BOTH of them up. If she was concerned for him, he was concerned for HER, okay? She was Alexa Cambridge, after all. She just couldn't be hurt in any way.
So yeah, Forrest was willing to take care of any unwanted boyfriends/friends who broke her heart too. Just sayin'.
"No I think we can buckle--HEEEY!" he exclaimed, withOUT any seatbelt whatsoever as the dragon took off. It was SUCH A THRILL! He giggled incontrollably as he held fast onto the neck of it. "And you hold onto ME." It wasn't going that fast, but it was fast enough to create wind that made him shout over his shoulder for her to hear.
The dragon breathed fire again as it toured over the carousel area.

The 18 year old turn his eyes away and slightly upward. "I don't see a ferris wheel.." Those were usually fairly tall that you could see them from a distance. "But we can do whatever you want.. And stay as long as you want," he said with a smile as he turned back towards her. He was certain they were going to have a lot of fun today. "Sure.. we can play games too."
Ethan followed her towards the charmed animal statues, his eyes falling over the different types before looking at the dragon, then back to her. "Um.." he began, looking around and taking her hand. "I think that girl is in charge.." He pointed to the worker with his other hand, then started to approach her, leading Minerva with him.
Min glanced smiling at him, "Yes it's nice to get out and spend time with you. I haven't been feeling as tired lately, so this was a perfect idea. I'm so glad you wanted to come." She continued to walk closer to the Carousel. She knew she was kind of being a child about this with her excitement, but it was the most excitement she was really letting herself have. Plus anytime spent with Ethan was well worth it.
She looked around not seeing every part of the festival since it was a bigger area than her eyes could see. "Well this will be fun, so much more exciting then just going around in a small circle a few times and then the ride being over." Plus what muggle fair had dragons, hypogriffs, and unicorns to ride on. Usually it was just your average horses. Such child's play for the seventeen year old. A quick thought crossed her mind that to the wizards that new all of this was it childish for them to go on at their age. Looking around shew as glad it wasn't. Seeing Alexa and Forrest leave on their rides. She didn't really care if it was she wanted to ride one and that was exactly what she was going to do.
She looked up and pouted a bit, "You're right. I don't think there is one. That's one of my favorite, but oh well we will still have fun." She grinned towards him. Games were always fun at fairs. "Just think you can win me something." she nudged him and laughed. Wrapping her arm around him she stopped and looked around, "After we are done here want to grab something to eat?" You couldn't go to a festival without having the food.
As they approached she looked towards the girl. Now did they just get on, it seemed by it by looking at the others. Smiling towards him, "Should I get on first or you?" She wasn't sure which would be easier.

He was about to get into something about them both buckling up, that much she'd gotten before the dragon suddenly took off with them. She would have questioned it were it not for the fact that she was clinging to whatever she could, eyes slightly widened in amazement.
But before this ride got anymore dangerous..."I think you should hold on to the pole instead, that way when I hold on to you we'll be less likely to both go falling off."
She'd fallen off her broom before during Quidditch Practices, a part of her was wondering if falling of this dragon would have been the same but she was in NO WAY interested to know what would happen in Forrest fell. There would be a certain SPLAT element to the day. Not fun at all so yeah, grab the pole then she would grab hold of him and they could properly enjoy the ride--

Fire breathing!! What she assumed was actual fire! The dragon did a flip that had her giggling without restraint. That was EVEN MORE EPIC!!! And they didn't manage to fall off. "How far do you think this thing will fly?" She half shouted.

Vashti grinned at all the kids lining up and walking about to choose a creature to ride. This was pretty cool, in her opinion. She was so used to the typical Muggle carousel and never really thought about what a magical one would be like. She still liked the Muggle ones, but these were extremely impressive and creative too. It made her half wish she hadn't volunteered to run it so that she could try it out, but maybe she could have a ride later after the festival closed and the children left. Surely then it would be perfectly okay to try it.
That wasn't what she needed to focus on now though. Now she needed to keep her attention on the excited children - like those two who were trying to ride on one dragon. She would've told one of them to choose another to ride - each animal was only supposed to carry one - but they were charmed in addition to having a seatbelt to ensure no one fell off, and she was more than confident the charm was powerful enough to keep more than one on there too. So no harm done for now. Time to focus on the others.
"Step right up and choose your creature!" she encouraged brightly. "They'll take off when you're ready. Make sure you remember your creature skills." Particularly for the hippogriff. Even though they weren't real, they still demanded respect.

Hold onto poles, okay! Forrest let go of BOTH of his hands momentarily for the thrill of it. He squealed again and grabbed the pole firmly, because he was going to hold both of them it seemed.
And the seatbelt issue solved itself: apparently, they were charmed to fasten themselves and it secured both of them. AWESOME! Now they could stop worrying about falling down and actually enjoy the ride!
As soon as Alexa asked the question, the dragon got sliiiightly faster as if it wanted to answer her, and raced towards the end of the fair ground. Forrest was too thrilled to utter a word. Then, it turned abrubtly to run the edge of the limits, shaking its passengers violently with that abrupt turn.
"Got your answer?" he shouted back in delight and let go off his hands again as the wind threw his hair back.

Oh look! The lady was telling them to choose their creature! Adi had always decided so using his knowledge on what he had read about the magnificent and cool Hippogriffs, he cautiously approached one with brown and white feathers and fierce orange eyes. Adi locked eyes with the Hippogriff and trying not to blink, he bent his knees and bowed confidently.
He waited patiently, his eyes watering a bit because he was trying not to blink. The Hippogriff stared back at him, sizing him up. "Oh come on, Mr. Hippogriff!'' Adi thought. "I'm an innocent kid. I won't hurt you!'' The Hippogriff seemed to have read his mind for it bent its talons and sank into a bow. "Awesome!'' The boy excitedly rushed over and carefully climbed onto it's back. There! He was all ready!

She watched, looking in all directions the entire time as it flew them to the edge of the fair grounds and back around. "Yeah!" It did answer her question. "Do you think it'll listen to us???" But there was no use asking Forrest, he knew just as much as she did when it came to these things.
This was nothing like a broom, she couldn't coax it into whatever direction she wanted with a simple shift of her body.
"Fly that way!" She yelled, deciding to give it a shot. To her surprize it DID turn, now soaring faster until they were above the mechanical hippogriff. They didn't stay long enough but she did manage to see someone falling off. "Don't you just love flying?"

Listen? Forrest yelled a "Don't. Know!" back. Why did she want to direct it anyway? It apparently had its own course--
"Hey it does!" It did listen to her! He watched downward and giggled when someone fell. She wouldn't have heard his giggling because of the wind, though. And he liked it that way. He didn't want to think he was being cruel or something.
"Actually this is the first time I'm flying except for planes," he said. He was left panting by the end of the sentence. Yelling was hard art, yo! "But it's cool!" It really was awesome. He now understood the craze for Quidditch. It was such a thrill--
And the thrill ended, abruptly.
Either the dragon was bored of them, or time was up; because it landed, burning people with fire again. The seatbelt went lose, and the dragon shook slightly as if to get them off his back.
"That was fun!" He was kinda sad that it ended, but it had been fun! "What do we do know?"
Not in a million years would Ruby have agreed to go to a freaking summer festival, especially not with Brae but, here she was. Standing in front of a magical carousel, complete with spinxes and thestrals, her mind still in shock. She couldn't believe she gave in to him. She really needed to work on that.
Meanwhile, next to her stood the Goofball, already halfway through his cotton candy, his goofy grin plastered over his face. Ruby looked up at him (she still hated being that short compared to him) and gave him a LOOK.
"Why are we here again?" She asked, folding her arms on her chest.
