Default Office and Storage Room

Behind the rows and rows of wands in the back of the shop, there is a doorway. The door to the back room has been replaced by a heavy velvet curtain which almost always hangs closed. If you aren't permitted to go back here then the rope tie that hangs at one side of the curtain will give you a little smack when you attempt it, and if you still persist in trying to stick your nose in where it isn't wanted, the curtain itself will wrap you in its heavy folds and keep you there until one of the Ollivanders employees can rescue you.

There is a slight scent of wet dog in the air once you get into the office, a smell that the employees cannot be rid of after the room played host to five giant husky dogs for several years. Plenty of cores in their appropriate storage boxes, and some basic woods on hand too; though none in the boxes or hanging on the racks have yet been made into wands.

This room seems to serve several different purposes. It is an office, a workroom, and a store room all in one. This is where the day-to-day business of running Britain's premiere wand store happens, but it is also where some new wands are made. Just as there is a scent of wet dog, there is also a slightly burned smell from the few wands that don't quite make it to the shelves, and a heady scent of polish and leather also battling to be noticed. Eau de wandshop.

There is a small window, which looks out onto an impossible view: the shop itself. It is charmed this way of course and means that if the front counter is unattended, sticky fingered individuals can still be watched. There is a large desk, immaculately tidy, save the paperwork which seems to pile up daily, and a long workbench where wands are both fashioned and repaired. There is also a set of cubby shelves with each of the current employee's names labelled on the front. Interns also get a cubby for the duration of their employment, as do the wandmakers who are contracted to work here short term. A battered but comfortable-looking couch rounds out the furnishings in the room.

OOC: Remember that site rules and diagon alley rules must always be followed. This is not a 'public' area. Please ask Govoni if you wish to RP here! OOC permission should be sought even if IC permission has not been given, so that we can still RP with you and have a good time.

No interns this summer, instead Ira had an actual apprentice of his own beginning work at Ollivanders. Yes he had his assistant Libby (who was really more at journeyman level than apprentice now), and every now and then Jodi (who assisted during the busiest times but wasn't technically HIS apprentice), but it would be different with Sophie Brown. Different because Ira had not had reason to have his own apprentice before now, and different because she'd spent the past seven years being an annoyingly inquisitive, but admirably dedicated irritation buzzing at his elbow. She had read every book he'd directed her to, and never been turned off from her path. She had proved herself.

Ira leaned down to the second-to-bottom of the cubby holes and slapped a label on it: Sophie Brown. He then slid in a deceptively slim leather book, small enough to fit in a large pocket. On this Sophie's name was also inscribed, along with spells that would keep anyone else from opening the volume. On top of this he placed a roll-up leather pouch which contained several wandcarving tools (of the basic variety).

He straightened up, eyed the cubby for a moment, and then almost as an afterthought added a wrapped peppermint toad to the items already there.

There.

Welcome to Ollivanders Sophie Brown, because you won't hear it from his lips. Ira returned to the main shop to prepare for the summer rush.

He chuckled a little, trying to make light of the nightmare that was his fifth year at Hogwarts.

"Of course, i'll be right behind you!" He gathered up the boxes in as neatly a stack as he could and followed.
Maneuvering his way around Fiona, Florian quickly moved towards storage, as he wanted to double-check these wands before putting them back into rotation. As well as give them a good polish. Children usually left their greasy prints all over the finishings, and in some cases, it deteriorated the polish.

Leaving the door open for Mr. Lupin to follow, he settled the boxes down on his desk. "I wanted to speak to you about your plans after you officially finish school." He began unboxing and inspecting as he talked.

Oliver made his way into the back, carefully stepping around Fiona in much the same manner. He placed the boxes in his arms onto the desk.. They needed to be cleaned most likely. Kids were gross sometimes.

"After i graduate.. I was hoping to get an apprenticeship with you. I know that i want to be a wandmaker.. and make wands as a career." The notebook full of ideas in his room would make it obvious to anyone who opened it's pages. "But i wanted to wait until closer to then to ask. I wasn't exactly sure what the etiquette was there." Cause it was another two years out.
