Default General Seating

Inside Florean Fortescue's parlour and to the left is the door to the room set up specially for today's debate. As soon as you walk inside, you notice the change of seating arrangements from the parlour outside. Tables with six chairs at each one fill the room in a horseshoe shape. At the open end of the horseshoe are two long tables for the candidates with a small podium situated between them.

Flowers add a pop of color and intimacy to each table but are low-lying so guests can talk to each other. The daisies occupy stemless martini glasses and hover above the surface to rotate slowly around each other. A small basket of parchments and quills lies next to the centerpiece for the guests to write their notes or questions for the candidates if needed.

Ice cream of all flavors are set out on the tables in self chilling serving dishes. A bowl with a folded napkin and spoon is set in front of each chair at all tables. A glass of water is set on one side of the bowl along with an empty glass for your drink of choice. The carafes on the tables are filled with coffee, tea and pumpkin juice.

Please, help yourself to some ice cream and drinks while you wait for the debate to get started. And don't forget to write down those questions you have for the candidates.

Ali gave Louisa permission to attend the debate this time, the Ravenclaw wanted to at least attend one of those since her future major in university will deal with debates and elections one way or another. It was like a golden opportunity to take real life experience before even she was accepted in WU.

First challenge was what to wear; casual or formal? This debate was held at one of the casual shops in Diagon Alley, so she went for the spring-y color with a touch of formality with her skirt and boots. People say she wear provocatively but the truth is that she likes to express some of her boldness and intensity via her attire, and in her eyes this was the way. The second challenge was to beg for someone to babysit her two cats and their newborn kittens, who knew she would worry about a babysitter so soon? Then was the fact that she had no idea whether or not the guests would be allowed to ask the BoG candidates some questions, because she had LOADS to ask.

Louisa stepped into the debate hall and took off her jacket before claiming a seat to an empty table.

Ooh! Ice cream!

The day for the debate was finally there. Livia fixed her make-up, straightened out her dress and walked the short way from her room at the leaky cauldron to the ice cream parlour; the setting for the last debate. On high heels Livia headed into the debate’s general seating area spotting only one other woman or girl rather there. She acknowledged the woman, several years her younger with a nod before she proceeded over to one of the empty tables.

Sitting down Livia scanned the ice cream selection to have something to do before more people dropped in and the debate started. Hopefully Atticus would do better in this debate than he had done in the last one.

Arts TRANSPONSTER!

Another debate! Seth was very excited! You could say he was one of the most curious people about these elections. He couldn't wait for the results to come out.

The 46 year-old man walked into Florean Fortescues smiling from ear to ear. He stopped at the door to take a good look around and really liked the way everything was organized. Nice, very nice! And such an interesting place for a debate! An ice cream parlour. Who would have thought of that!? Seth appreciated the creativity of these people. Hopefully the future members of the Board of Governors would be equally creative and hard working.

It was such an important step for education! Hogwarts surely would be enhanced to its full potential! The future of the children was going to be even more brilliant and successful.

This was the reason why Seth was beaming and smiling so much. And this was also the reason why he brought his daughter with him.

Uuuuuuuuuurgh, nooo!!!

Amanda dragged herself into the parlour. She did NOT want to be there. She hated politics and anything to do with it and just the sound of 'elections' made her roll her eyes and sigh heavily. Alright, it wasn't like she had more important things to do right now, she didn't, but watching such debate was something that did not excite her one bit.

It did the exact opposite, actually. Blah.

The young woman stopped right behind her father and lazily looked around and tried to recognize anyone in there. Boring. Booriiing. Could she leave now?? Siiiiigh.

Oh! Seth finally noticed that there were a few people there already. Lovely! He grabbed his daughter's hand and pulled her to the table were the younger looking girl was sitting. "Do you mind if we join you?" He asked smiling warmly at her.

Maybe this girl would be able to make Amanda more interested in these sorts of things. MAYBE she would even influence his daughter and make her finally want to study something useful and that she could make a living of. Yes, he remembered seeing that young lady at the candidate's rally and she looked very keen on these kind of things.

Brilliant!

Awful!!

Amanda let herself be dragged by her father and stood next to him, hand still in his. She knew what he had in mind and was not looking forward to any of this at all. Come on, now, he knew nothing would make her change her mind. Why did he have to do this every time?? Ugh...

Anyway, it wasn't that girl's fault, so the 24 year-old half smiled when she looked at her.

Hmm? Louisa lifted her gaze off the ice cream bowl and nodded, the spoon stuck inside her mouth savoring every little of this one-in-a-million flavor. "Yeah, thure, ath long ath you don't eat my ith cream." She gave the man a lopsided grin with a spoon dangling from her mouth. Not the kind that an Ambassador wannabe should act but in her defense, the debate didn't start yet and she hasn't turned that mode on yet.

So the debate has finally come. After preparing and organizing and stuff. Victoria dressed up for the occasion and headed to the seating area as her heels clicked against the floor. She always wore heels. Mhhm. Looking around her to search for any familiar people, the blond noticed that she had come early for not many people arrived. Well, she was excited so she came early. She wasn't here just because she was a member of the Board of Electors, she also was here because who didn't like ice cream. And of course she was curious about the debates.

Also, it was a good chance to see other fellow employees. Friends and meet other people too. Socializing was always good. And the blond was also waiting for a certain someone to come as well. Though she sees him everyday at work, she never gets enough. She wasn't going to say that aloud though. Not that she's been doing a very good job of being sophisticated lady. But that she could never excel.

As she got near the tables, the secretary spotted a couple of people. She saw a young lade, a man and a little girl. She smiled as she passed them. But then she recognized one of the managers. The secretary took a second to remember the name and immediately she remembered it. She had a good memory. Victoria neared the woman and smiled, "Hello, Miss Frost," She said brightly. "I'm Victoria Smith." Because she never got to introduce herself before. And the woman surely knew what Victoria's job was right? Since she was the one to register the names and collect the fees. No need to mention that.

This was the last debate if his memory served well. This was Gavin's last chance to really wow the voters and get himself into good standings with them. He had the utmost faith in his candidate. The man seemed to know what he was doing and he didn't let things intimidate him easily. Losing Ms. Dacosta wasn't exactly haw he saw himself finishing up the elections but there was very little he could do about that and he now had another candidate that needed just as much of his focus, if not more; this being the big day and all.

He entered the ice-cream shop and headed for the seating area where he saw a few others. A young lady (Louisa) that he didn't know, she got a polite nod and a smile.

The next two he noticed were an odd pair. A man and a young woman being dragged. Merlin. He knew these events weren't for everyone but seriously? He gave them both a polite nod as well before taking a seat by two others that were familiar--one more than the other (Livia and Victoria). "Hello Ladies, mind if I sit here?"...He was already sitting though...this wasn't a problem right?

Livia was about to invite the younger girl (Louisa) over to join her table when she saw that Louisa was joined by a little girl and her father. Stalking the so far quite empty candidates table for Atticus she didn’t see or acknowledge the woman from the ballot registration until she heard her name. Pulling her gaze away from the latest candidate to arrive; Mr Vinteren she looked up at the ministry woman with a bright smile. "Good day, we met at the ballot registration earlier in the week right?"

"It's a pleasure to meet you Victoria." Livia said. Officially that is since they had met earlier. Gesturing to the seat next to her she asked "Would you like to join me?" It was going to be along debate so why not endure it in pleasant company and eat some ice cream.

Livia was going to enquire about Victoria’s candidate preference when she felt the presence of somebody sitting down next to her at the table. Turning her brown eyes met those of Nathaniel’s. "Hello Nathaniel." He was already there but to be polite she replied. "Of course not, make yourself comfortable." Remembering the daily prophet news article about Nathaniel’s candidate dropping out of the race Livia asked curiously "Are you still managing a candidate Nathaniel or are you just here to figure out who you’d like to vote for when the election opens?"

The blond's smile widened seeing that the manager,Livia had remembered her. Well, it's been only about a week since they saw each other. Though it was fast but they still exchanged a couple of words. She nodded as in yes we met then. Though the woman wasn't really asking, right? Just acknowledging. "That is true," She said anyway.

"The pleasure is mine," Victoria replied as she slid into the seat where Livia motioned. She surely wasn't going to stay standing, was she. Smoothing down her skirt, Victoria clasped her hands and glanced over at the candidates table noticing that a good number of them had arrived. Since she knew all the names because of working on lists and stuff she did a fast counting. "I see that four candidates hadn't arrived yet," Considering Corin Vanderbilt was the last to arrive. It was a random comment though.

She was going to ask Livia about how was the campaign going. Which she actually wasn't sure if it was a good question or a stupid one. But it seemed natural to ask a manager such thing. Or maybe managers didn't like talking about this. Her dilemma was stopped short as someone joined them. The blond smiled over at the man, "Hello mister Black," She replied remembering the man's name. She does that since she was the one to organize the lists. Along with her colleagues of course. Listening to what Livia asked, Victoria remembered reading and knowing about Ms.Dacosta not being among the candidates.

She waited for the man's answer. She'd ask her questions once they got started talking and once she saw how much they were willing to say.

He didn't need to be told twice! Nate shifted into a more comfortable position on the chair, while still maintaining as much of his professional image as possible and began helping himself to some ice-cream. Of all the locations for the debate, this had to be his favourite.

He allowed himself another spoon of ice-cream before looking over at her. There was a pleasant enough smile across his face. The question, he didn't find it odd really, more like something he would have wanted to know too. "I am actually," He started, taking the napkin and wiping at the corners of his mouth, "after Ms. Dacosta dropped out I was reassigned. Mr. Higareda, his manager basically pulled the disappearing act." That wouldn't have been given away too much; something like that would have been obvious.

He nodded politely to the woman as a form of second greeting, seeing as he'd already greeted her as he sat. "I don't believe I caught your name." He knew this woman...a little--it was clear she knew his name and he liked the playing field to be even as often as it could be.

"And I take it your just here to enjoy a good debate?" Could have been the ice-cream too. He could think of several people for who the only motivation needed would be being told there would be a bowl of ice-cream in it for them. He hung out with the strangest people.

Barny could do this, yes he could! It was a rather long journey from Hogsmeade all the way to Diagon Alley, but he could do it! He was a good owl, even if the other owls didn't seem to like him much. It was okay.

There were so many PEOPLE though! Lookit all these humans! How was he supposed to find the one he was supposed to deliver it to in this crowd?

He would though. And he did! Because there she was!

Flying in lower, he might've bumped into a few random peoples' heads - whoops! - before finally landing clumsily on the table in front of the girl person. He released the package from his talons and set the letter he held in his beak down on the table as well. Then, very pleased with himself, he ruffled his feathers, let out a little "hoo," then took off once more - perhaps whacking someone in the face with the edge of his feathered wings - and flew back towards Hogsmeade.

SPOILER!!: delivery!

Louisa,
In Ancient Runes class, our homework was to make clay sculptures of runes that we think can relate to a friend. So I made you three keychain rune sculptures. Ansuz is the purple one and is for leaders and success. Algiz is the black one and is for protection, support, and mentors. Mannaz is the blue one and is for family. I felt you have those qualities so I chose those runes for you.
Miss you!
Your little claw,
Lily Potter
Along with the letter is a package

As Raelynn entered the room she quickly scanned the room for anybody she knew. There was that woman from the registration at the Ministry what was her name..Victoria! She walked over to her where she noticed a few of the other managers standing, well another one wouldn't be a bother. "Hello Victoria." Please let that be her name.

Raelynn had never really forgotten a name before but there was a first for everything. Even though she hated forgetfulness.

Colby couldn't contain his excitement as he walked around the room. Hosting the final debate for the Board of Governor's election was pretty much an honor he thought.

Everything seemed to be going smoothly. People were showing up, getting comfortable, eating ice cream, receiving packages.

WHAT?!

WHY was there a blasted dirty owl in his shop... again? He was really going to have to have a talk with the owl post office employees about this. They needed to train those blasted owls to stay OUT of his shop. Taking a deep breath he continued walking around the room. He would deal with the owl situation later. Right now though he had other things to do, like making sure everything stayed full. He didn't want anyone to run out of ice cream or drinks.

Now, if only his wife would get there to help, or not, since she was rather pregnant his night would be perfect.

The final Board of Governors debate was here at last. And, not surprisingly, so was the Headmistress.

Anastasia stepped into the room designated for the debate and picked out a seat at a random table. She smoothed out her skit and then plopped down, resting her clutch on her lap politely. Oh she had learned not to put her purse on the table, or where just anyone could grab it. She had learned that the hard way.

Once she was settled, the redhead flipped her hair over her shoulder and reached for a bowl of ice cream. A bowl of... hmm, was that strawberry cheesecake? Annie dipped a little onto a spoon and helped herself.

"Delicious!" she muttered happily, spooning up some more of the unhealthy dessert.

"And I take it your just here to enjoy a good debate?" Could have been the ice-cream too. He could think of several people for who the only motivation needed would be being told there would be a bowl of ice-cream in it for them. He hung out with the strangest people.

Taking the chance as the man explained who he was managing now, the blond reached for a spoon and tasted the ice-cream. Everyone,of course, knew that Florean Fortescue' ice cream was always delicious and enjoyable. Yet, she didn't allow herself more than a couple of spoons. This skirt and shirt needed to keep fitting her. As well as other item clothing. All about self-control. The secretary pushed the ice cream further away from her and turned to man as he addressed her.

How rude of her not to introduce herself. But in her defense, she being a secretary and knowing a lot of people's names, just assumed that they knew her name back. Also it was usually that she wore a name tag. But she wasn't at the front desk nor was she at Level-one. How hard for her to forget about her job. "Pardon me. I should have introduce myself." She said with an easy smile. Not the one she wore at office. "Victoria Smith." She said. "Victoria is enough though." Believe it or not she gets bored of formalities.

Glancing at the candidates table, she saw that more have arrived. It meant that the debate will shortly start. Back to the man. "Well, that is part of the reason." She answered tucking a loose strand of hair. "Also, I'm a member of the board of electors." She added as an afterthought. Which explains why she was among the ones who accepted the fee and registered names for the ballots. They of course had other jobs.

"So how's Mister Higareda's preparation?" She asked brightly.

Raelynn had never really forgotten a name before but there was a first for everything. Even though she hated forgetfulness.

Just as Victoria was about to turn to take a look at the candidate's table, she heard someone call her name. She looked towards the source of the voice and recognized the manager of Roxanne. It took the blond a couple of seconds to remember the list to know that this woman's name Raelynn. "Hi, Raelynn," She replied with a smile and patting the seat next to her. "Have a seat and join us." Since the debate was about to start. And the managers surely were familiar with each other. Also, the tables were put to make room for a good number of people.

Victoria allowed herself one last spoon of ice-cream then she pushed the bowl away. This skirt was not going to fit her again if she kept taking a spoon after another. Luckily, her attention was drawn as a couple of people. Wasn't that shop's owner. It surely was. He did look proud. Oh and that woman. The blond recognized the redhead as Hogwarts' Headmistress. Since the woman wasn't sitting that far away, Victoria smiled towards her, "Good day Mrs.Trubridge." It wasn't creepy that Victoria knew the name right. Since the woman was the Headmistess she surely knew people would know her name. Also, there was the fact that the blond made sure she was up-to-date on all the names around the Wizarding world. It comes as a side effect being a front desk employee. Seeing everyone and so.

Along with the letter is a package

Nomnomnom... there was no ice cream better than this one, never ever. Not even that fancy place in France her brothers bragged about. NOPE. This ice cream was--

Hmm? Louisa paused with the spoon in her mouth as an owl hopped on a couple of heads before staggering on the table in front of her. Err... right here? The owl post office had weird schedule. Hehe. She put her spoon down and eagerly read the letter. Aww, it was from Lily! How cute! With a big smile on her face, she opened the package and admired the rune work by her ickle 'claw.

She should send the girl something back, too. But now, Louisa put them all in her bag and continued ice-cream-ing.

OH! Oh! Her previous headmistress! She grabbed her bowl and scrambled up to her feet to where the woman sat down, "Hi Mrs. Truebridge!" And plopped down on the same table two seats away from the woman. She should remember her... Louisa kept her gaze on the woman for a few seconds before succumbing to the fact that people MIGHT forget her. Outrageous but it could happen. "Louisa Carter." And she dug into her ice cream again.

Wait, someone was talking loudly. The former Ravenclaw tore her eyes away from the ginger woman and recognized the man from last term's train trip. The one who liked to eat, he was fun.

Ask questions?!

Louisa's hand shot up in the air while her face was still half buried in her ice cream. She took a second to untangle her teeth from the spoon and shot up to her feet, almost knocking the spoon and a chunk of an almost-eaten ice cream down her skirt.

"Hi! My name's Louisa Carter, recent Hogwarts graduate and former Head Girl." Cue an imaginary applause. "Even though I no longer go to school, Hogwarts still is an important place to me as to many other graduates, and I care about what goes on there and how things are handled, how students are treated. During my school years, we encountered multiple challenges that affected us permanently and not always in a good way." She tried not to look Truebridge's way. "And I would like to know what kind of steps you have in store to face similar challenges.

"A witch implants a cursed object in school and uses it to steal time from the young student's own life age, and finally she's been caught. What would you, as the BoG, suggest to be the witch's fair punishment? And what would you suggest to be done about the traumatized students?" She gave a small nod, "Thank you." And plopped down on her chair, her heart beating faster with excitement and Merlin know Louisa loved this business!

Annie's sharp blue eyes took in the other woman's attire while she also took the time to swallow her last bite of ice cream. It wouldn't do to speak with a mouth full of cream, now would it!

"Good day, Ms......." she returned the greeting with a smile, trailing off so the girl could fill in her name for her. "This is just a guess, but you wouldn't happen to work for the Board of Elections, would you?" Who else would know the Bunz's name and face? The whole wizarding world SHOULD know but hem hem not all did.

Oh my, that was her Head Girl over there, wasn't it? Annie pushed her little bowl of ice cream further away once she saw Lousia bouncing her way over, and folded her hands politely in her lap. "Louisa, I remember you well," she smiled firmly at the girl once she had sat down and made her introduction. "How ARE you doing?" And WHAT was she doing? Annie liked to hope all her bright students went on to noble pursuits after graduation, like travel and university and finding the common cure for lycanthropy. But here was Ms. Carter, in Diagon Alley, asking a question of the Board of Governors candidates.

...well, she supposed the girl could be doing worse things with her time. Annie found Louisa's question particularly relevant, actually, and stiffened a bit when she heard it. She didn't mean anything by that part about encountering multiple challenges that affected them permanently, right? After all, it had been during Tate's tenure that the Time Thief had managed to implant a cursed object in the school. Annie had had nothing to do with it. So no, surely there were no bad feelings directed toward her with that question.

"Good query, dear," she leaned in to whisper to the former Head Girl.

Giving a wry look he shook his head "Sometimes just being there for the child is the best form of help a person can give them. Quite often all a person needs is assurance that it won't happen again to them. Making sure they feel safe and doing everything in our power to ensure this won't happen again. I believe personally that items should be checked as they appear in the school. Including when students arrive at the beginning of the school term and packages that arrive by owl post."
The first candidate was up to answer. Annie found it odd that he was standing. He looked a little out of place, since this was supposed to be an informal setting, right? But she listened to his answer anyway, especially the part about checking items before they came into the school. That could be done.

She pursed her lips at his idea to only give the witch six months in Azkaban though. That was it, really? Shouldn't the sentence fit the crime? The Headmistress personally thought the Time Thief deserved years in Azkaban. She ought to rot for as many years as she had stolen! Hmmph!

Pause. "However, as far as the traumatized students were concerned," Because this question wasn't completely hypothetical, Louisa, we are entirely aware, "I would have liked to see support via St Mungos and perhaps if necessary, engaged the services of a counselor or mind-healer, for those students who felt they needed further after care, given the unique circumstances surrounding that particular event."

She added, "I believe the Board of Governors in fact arranged a similar service for at least one of the students some terms ago after a kidnapping when an illegal dueling ring was uncovered in the Forbidden Forest. It would be useful to have funds allocated to such services as required."
Annie listened to the next candidate's answer with just as much rapt attention. She tried to keep a neutral expression for all their answers, but couldn't and wouldn't help it if her face betrayed her reactions. She found Althea a nice enough... person, quite fitting for Dash, a snazzy dresser, and a well educated educator, but sometimes, she was just not Anastasia's cup of tea. Now was possibly one of those times.

Of course the blonde would want to trust the Department of Magical Law Enforcement (like they knew anything) with punishing the time thief. And of course she would insist on outside services from St. Mungo's. Did she realize how expensive those services were? Counselors. Pfft. And then she went and brought up that term with the ah, werewolf dueling ring. Now Annie had been present for that one... so was Thea criticizing the school or the school's Governors? She could be fine with the latter but not the former.

Her question got the redhead thinking. Had the students really been that traumatized by the time thief? And if they had, Merlin, then wouldn't they have all gone stark raving mad when a plant up and ate their professors just a term later? Hmmhmmm.

Debate time again, eh?

Harold had been a busy man, a busy man indeed! What with running the Three Broomsticks, his usual Treasury work for the Governors and trying to get to know some of the candidates running in the election it was a wonder he hadn't become flustered--a less put together man would do so.

When Hops entered the ice cream parlor he began to look for a seat at one of the various tables, preferably with someone he knew, and had just seen the Headmistress when a bloke caught his eye.

"Ah Mr. Formaggio! Pleasure to see you again!" He said walking towards the shopkeeper. "This Election's helping keep our little shops on their feet, eh?" He elbowed the guy in the side cheerfully as he looked on at the candidates and public gathered about. Their shops didn't need the extra business, being rather busy normally but still all the pomp and circumstance was an added bonus.

"Anastasia! You look quite lovely today." Harold bowed smally to the redhead before taking a seat beside her. He didn't really see who she was talking to but that didn't really matter--the candidates were over there!

It had been a while since he had talked to the woman face to face, the occasional owl had been used because of his busy schedule but it was good to see her again. He was eager to hear how Professor Scabior was doing as the new Deputy but that could wait. "Having fun? Anyone doing particularly well so far?" She had obviously been here long before him.

Livia helped herself to the ice cream putting several small balls of different ice cream flavour onto her plate. It was going to be a long debate. Plucking the first bite of ice cream into her mouth the red head turned to Nathaniel as he explained the situation. Frowning she asked "Really? Mr Higareda’s manager pulled a disappearing act? That's worrying. Does that mean that Mr Higareda is hard to work with?" Or maybe the manager had disappeared because of personal reasons. The possibilities were endless. It was nice that Nathaniel was still around though.

Taking another bite of ice cream she hummed gratefully. "The ice cream is delicious."

Raising a third spoon of ice cream to her mouth Livia stopped as another woman stepped up to their table apparently already acquainted with Victoria. Shooting the woman a pleasant smile she said "Hello, would you like to join us? You are a manager too right?" Livia thought the woman looked familiar but she couldn’t put the name to the face something she usually prided herself with being good at.

Since she knew all the names because of working on lists and stuff she did a fast counting. "I see that four candidates hadn't arrived yet," Considering Corin Vanderbilt was the last to arrive. It was a random comment though.
Turning her brownish eyes to the blond by her side Livia asked "Were you involved in getting Nathaniel reassigned to be Mr Higareda’s manager?" Victoria worked on the Board of Elections so it wasn’t a poor guess. Pushing the ice cream towards Victoria she urged. "Come on, taste the ice cream it’s quite delicious!" As if showing what she meant Livia ate another piece of ice cream. Keeping an eye on the candidate’s table she felt her little butterflies come to rest when Atticus stepped up and took a seat at long table. To Victoria she said. "It seems some candidates haven’t showed up yet. I'm glad that my candidate, Mr Alredge has arrived though." If he hadn’t then Livia would waste no time with sending out a search party.

No, Bjorn Berg was not late. He was fashionably late, and that one word made all the difference. He'd been early to every other function, so this time the strategy was different. All the same, he did not make a big show of himself when he entered. However, that decision was not all under his control. Just as he walked in, an owl swooped over his head, knocking off his hat. "Owl!" he exclaimed unnecessarily. So much for a nondescript entrance.

No matter. Bending down gingerly, the older man retrieved his hat and returned it to its rightful place atop his head. Now. Who to rub elbows with today...? Spotting the Headmistress, who seemed to have room at her table, Bjorn made a beeline toward the lady. "Headmistress Truebridge! Looking stunning as usual. Truly your fashion sense is indicative of a sharp mind." He flashed her a smile. "Mind if I join you?"

Her attention fell back on the candidates as they started to answer her question.

Merlin it was just like if there was a time turner used and there was an accident. Very close to his own heart, being he'd worked in the time room for a few years!

Azkaban. Hmm. Personally, Louisa would love for that criminal to go there, it was so scary seeing her friends stop living for a while and not knowing whether they would come back or just go on existing as breathing corpses. It made sense to her, even though the punishment was extreme.

She added, "I believe the Board of Governors in fact arranged a similar service for at least one of the students some terms ago after a kidnapping when an illegal dueling ring was uncovered in the Forbidden Forest. It would be useful to have funds allocated to such services as required."

Which was actually another lovely example of why it was important to have a healthy relationship with the Ministry, and in particular those departments charged with the safety of the Wizarding World.

In short, Althea believed in making the most of the skills which people had, and looking for the right kind of help from outside rather than presuming that she knew best just by dint of her position.

Louisa's smile grew wider when professor Schimer was next. The Ravenclaw initially preferred all fellow female candidates, their way to a position that holds this much authority was pretty much the same one she longs to take one day. Not to mention that this particular woman was one Louisa to have taken as an idol, she was tough, independent and smart.

Her answer, however, didn't satisfy Louisa's raging emotions towards the evil witch. She wanted the witch to be hurt back and locked with Dementors. But also, she felt rather safe to know that someone could see the issues objectively and not hesitant to ask help and cooperate with external facilities for the betterment of Hogwarts protection.

"Thank you for your question Miss Carter, you bring up an excellent point that none of us can ignore - the safety of the students HAS been in jeopardy over the past few years. To help students who were effected by these breaches in security, no matter what their degree of involvement in the affair was, I firmly believe counselling is the best option. Getting everything out and in the open and having someone to turn to, knowing that they will keep things confidential and will be unbaised, is sometimes the best medicine. If extra attention is needed, we can call on the support staff at St. Mungos to help. Students should know that if they feel at all disturbed by anything in the castle, they should seek help. It's not a sign of weakness nor an embarrassment to seek out counseling - we are there to protect them, and that includes their mental well-being after events like this happen."

"Now, to prevent this from happening," he said, moving his weight from one foot to the other, "We should definitely look into establishing more security around the school. The Ministry is growing, and from the looks of things, Magical Law Enforcement could have enough staff on hand to form an extra security group for the school. Again, this is speculation on my end, but even one or two extra wizards can make a huge difference in the security of our school. Finally, we must insist that ANY students who see ANYTHING suspicious need to speak up! Report it to the Headmistress or your head of house--don't stay quiet in this matter. The sooner the board and staff and security are informed of what is happening around the school, the sooner help can arrive and prevent anything from endangering the students. Thank you," Nolan said with a smile before taking his seat again.

Once more, off to a great start! Hehe.

OHH! How come a lot of the candidates were people she knew? This was a old former professor in Hogwarts, too. He didn't teach her but she knew him, too bad he wasn't a lady!

Louisa nodded (maybe a bit too much, too) at everything he said. The students' safety HAD been.. err... unstable, so many times. It wasn't that bad to her because she loved adventures and riddles, but it sometimes was terrifying and chaotic to younger students. And so difficult on Prefects who were expected to be mini-adults with so little experience. In short, the former professor made a great input.

And Roxanne wasn't just saying that because until very recently she had been a part of that department, either. She truly believed it. Though she also knew that despite what Nolan thought, the MLE DIDN'T have enough people to form a team like that. But, that hadn't even been the point of the question anyway, so she just gave him a 'what are you on about, anyway?' look and continued on. She felt the need to steal something very valuable, time, from those students, so it's the least that way too old brat could do." Okay, so she may have let her anger at the woman color that last statement a bit. So sue her.

Another lady! The Carter lady, even. Louisa paid closer to attention to this one, but.. okay. She also approve of asking assistance from the MLE. The Ravenclaw was a tad sad that this Carter lady didn't share Louisa's fierce and extreme nature. They must not be related, then...

It wasn’t before long that the first question was asked, and Corin brows raised when he recognized who asked it-- Louisa, the ginger former Head Girl, she gets a small pleasant smile, for old times sakes.

But her question was an interesting one and Corin hand braced his chin thoughtfully. He had memories of that event, a ring side seat if you will, and he can still remember the conversation that took place in the Headmaster’s office as if it was yesterday. And to think he nearly touched that orb himself. Shudder.

“Well...in order to address your first comment there Louisa...” Ms Carter? No, too formal for a setting like this, this wasn’t a B&W party after all “....it must be said that the steps that must be taken has to depend on the challenge presented. I always believe one must come up with an applicable solution to a specific problem, just because something worked on a previous problem doesn’t mean it would work well with the next one.”

“Now on your question about the uh... chronologically-gifted witch...” which he would actually want to meet face to face, he was curious like that “... first I would like to know up to what is the extent of her abilities—to customize her punishment. For example, does she have the ability to create any object into an instrument that can steal someone’s time... or she doesn’t need an instrument, does she have the ability with her mere contact or presence? If so then naturally you wouldn’t want to incarcerate her with anybody else including fellow inmates—otherwise she’d just be feeding off of them—and that’s not much of a punishment.” if anything it was a gift to her own private banquet.

“However, if she doesn’t have the ability to steal time just as herself, then perhaps having her spend her days amongst those who doesn’t have that much time left in the world would be a more fitting penalty—the old, the dying, those on death row-- to be constantly surrounded by those who will forever be a reminder to her that time is not hers to keep.” He wanted to add something else—a very Ravenclawish suggestion, but he decided to keep that to himself. For now.

“And as for the affected students....” Ravenclawish instincts popping up again. Shhh. “.... it must be quite an experience for them after having gone through all that. I had wondered if they were given counseling or some kind of support group to address their issues—different people deal with trauma different ways, they ought to have professionals and family and friends to help them come to terms with what happened to them.”

Louisa's smile faltered into a nostalgic small one when Vickers' uncle spoke up. If she made an exception to her support of female candidates, this man would be her first biased choice. She knows the way he thinks, where he comes from and she respects him like her own uncle. even she wishes to continuously be a butt to his nephew

He talked. A lot. She found herself playing with her messy braid as her mind raced along with his. Of course he made sense, and literally said the procedures he'd do. She liked the fact that he didn't dodge or used a vague answer. He deserved a bright smile when he finished.

Next question, please.

OH YEAH! Another Azkaban talk. This made her somewhat pleased that she shared the mind of some of the candidates, although they were mainly men-- where did she hear this accent before, by the way? She found herself leaning her chin on her hand deep in thought as she watched the foreign man talk.

He made a lot of sense, actually... especially if you replace his 'v's with the correct letter. Louisa smiled back at him when he finished and looked for the next person to speak.

He listened at the other candidates, but zoned out a little when Althea spoke of what happened during his second term. He quickly took a few sips of water to distract himself. Better water in... than out of his eyes.

"Hey Louisa. Thanks for the question." he started, trying to keep his voice steady. Deep breath, Carter. Deep breath. "I do sincerely appreciate the question. My little sister was actually one of the students in the incident Miss Carter here was referring to. I also had several close friends, including my wife, that were involved in the kidnapping that Althea was referring to."

He ran a hand through his hair. "I wholeheartedly agree that this is something that needs to be addressed. I'm going to skip over the punishment bit, if you don't mind. I've stated before I'm not a politician. And you might not be able to tell this, but I'm a far cry from law enforcement." Which, was probably pretty obvious looking at him. "I'll leave the punishment to those whose job it is to decide that."

He then cleared his throat. "I believe there needs to be an exact system in place for cases like this and what happened during my second year at Hogwarts. I believe parents need to be informed. I believe all the students as well should be aware of the situation. And in terms of the aftermath there needs to be a widely available" he gave a pointed look at Althea before turning his attention back on Louisa "form of counseling available. I didn't know that anything was offered in prior terms." Of course, he'd been sure to talk to everyone that he could. That's actually how he and Destiny first became close. "As far as I'm concerned, anything that happens on school property is the school's responsibility. Meaning, someone needs to followup on those directly affected and even offer help to anyone that may be uncomfortable with the situation."

Not everyone left to their own devices as what was going on currently.

"In conjunction with this topic, I think there needs to be better care taken in what exactly these students have interactions with." Security measures needed to be taken to stop bringing strange objects and strange people in contact with the students.

The former Quidditch captain. She remembered him, he didn't know her because of the age gap but the younger students always looked up to the older and longed to get closer to them popular ones. Hehe.

Wait, he was a candidate too?! Holy Merlin. Louisa wanted to stand up and cheer for the young man! His ambition struck her in a good way. She felt related too! And the fact that he understand precisely what she was talking about, being a first-hand affected, even made her more happy with him. She gave him an impressed smile when he finished talking.

She waited for the question after her short introduction.

Oh! The young woman was talking about the de Talone incident? It seemed like it. Lourdes knew about that because it's been news everywhere. Rumors and words on the street and all of that. She wasn't the last one to know about these kinds of news.

Time to answer. "Thank you for the question, Louisa," Lourdes said and gave the young lady and nod and quick smile. "It's actually a good question." Coming from someone of that age. Lourdes could sense a Ravenclaw.

"I agree with my other fellow candidates that the Department of Magical Law Enforcement would know better about punishing the woman. I believe Wes would do very well on that. His department would know what to do, and maybe even the Wizengamot could help with the decision-making." Lourdes didn't know much about those things because she wasn't part of the MLE. She had her own department to run. "For the traumatized students, I'd say the same that guidance counsellors would be helpful too in Hogwarts, just like Mr. Phillips said, the same way it is helpful in Muggle schools. I've figured that probably the expenses would cost a lot, but we'll only need them when someone, especially a student, is in need of help emotionally and psychologically." That's what counsellors do, right? Lourdes knew about them because her grandmother was a Muggle and she knew things related to their way of living.

Another female candidate! Louisa extended her smile to her and listened to her approving of what most of her fellow candidates said. It was very good to see that most of them were in sync, it was a teamwork after all. She got a nod and a smile back from the girl before looking for the next candidate to answer.

Louisa's attention was temporarily on the two men that sat at the table she and the headmistress were sharing (she recognized the three broomsticks man). The former Ravenclaw waved at both of them with a big smile on her face (because she was sitting with super important people now!!! and she won't budge). Her attention was back on the candidates' table to see who else was going to answer her.

Merlin's beard, this one liked to hear himself talk. He had been a professor at Hogwarts too, Annie knew. She'd also like, met him at one of the BoG functions, but didn't really remember talking to him beyond just an introduction. So she listened carefully to his answer now.

Yeah yeah, security was important. She got that. The redhead quirked her eyebrows slightly when Nolan said ANYONE WHO NOTICED ANYTHING EVER should speak up. Great, now they were going to get all sorts of false alarms. Mer-lin! She tried very hard not to roll her eyes, but couldn't help emitting a tiny snort as the former professor finished speaking. Even though he had decent (if not unoriginal ideas), Bunz felt like applauding him for not rambling longer. Moving on!

There now, that was a better answer. Much much much much shorter. Annie approved, and nodded at the Law Enforcer Lady, or whatever she did, to show her approval. She also found it a tiny little bit funny that the time thief was being called an old brat. Hehe. That seemed accurate.

The redhead nearly dozed off when the next candidate started speaking. What? He was boring, and long-winded, and rambled like an old geezer. Which, frankly, judging from his hair color, he totally was. The Headmistress found herself staring intently at Vanderbilt's head, if only because she was finding it more entertaining to picture him with different colored wigs on than to actually listen to what he was saying.

Way too much Ravenclaw in his answer. She probably wouldn't be voting for him.

He also had a good response. Prevention, right, good. Duly noted. This guy was the security expert everyone on staff had recommended, right? Hmm she'd keep her eyes on him.

Awww. Awwwwwww. Look at how serious and grown-up lil Carter Quidditch Player Phillips was being! Annie was proud of her former student... er, he had been one of hers back in the day, right? Well either way, he was holding his own in this debate so far, and had a very thoughtful answer to Louisa's question.

The Headmistress didn't necessarily LIKE phrases such as 'follow up' and 'exact system in place', but she could appreciate Carter's response for being so... heartfelt, anyway.

Blah blah blah the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Anastasia tuned out as soon as she heard that mentioned, and rolled her eyes even more when this Lourdes Black mentioned Wesley by name. DID SHE KNOW HIM? Didn't she know how horrible and incompetent he was?!

Awful. Awful awful awful answer. She did not have the Bunz's vote.

"As for the traumatized students," that was almost painful to say, and it made him wish that it didn't exist, that the events could somehow magically not have happened and simply let the students have a normal, safe education like they deserved, "I wish I could think of a way to simply take those painful experiences away to help them, but unfortunately, that doesn't appear possible at this moment in time. So instead, I would agree that counselors should be made available to them, people they could talk to one-on-one, and support groups could be created as well. Or parents, imagine losing your own child for several months, not knowing how, why, or if they would ever return... How long would you like to see that criminal in prison? I don't think a few mere years is quite long enough. I don't think I would even want to live to see the woman who, essentially, took the life of several of our precious students, ever come out of Azkaban in my life time. "As for the traumatized students... Much time has passed since the happenings of this terrible woman, however... I can only imagine that some students still might find themselves having nightmares, troubling thoughts, or are even scared to be alone after a large part of their life had been stolen. I do believe counseling should be offered to the students who feel they need it.

"But as this is the past, the only thing else we can do now is, like Erik said, prevention. We must fortify our security. There has been far too much danger entering the gates of the grounds and the walls of the castle. Even Hogsmeade can be dangerous, as we now know. With higher security, we can keep our students safe and happy."
The redhead thought she remembered this woman from the start-of-term feast. She had been wearing gloves, hadn't she? Hmm. Bunz spent a moment studying her all-white outfit before she started listening to the woman's answer, but she did approve of it. Here here, stick the time thief in jail for an eternity! Ha! See how she liked that timeframe! Haha!

Bunz found herself nodding along once more as the lady referenced another candidate's answer. Innnnnnteresting... maybe those two were in cahoots? Eh probably not. These candidates as a whole didn't seem to like each other enough bother to pair up.

"Yet I realize also that a proper counseling service was not in place, with the exception of students having their Heads of Houses or other favorite professors to speak with on the matter. So I would urge Hogwarts to put proper student services in place and/or provide additional training to its staff on dealing with trauma."
Annie laughed softly at the other quidditch player's idea to rob the time thief of time herself. Ha!!! Now that was something she'd like to see the famous Aurors and silly Hit Wizards try. Good luck to them. She gave a nod to his answer, relieved it was short, and exhaled to herself. He seemed to be the last one to speak, so that was a relief. Bunz could maybe ask a question of her own now... after she addressed all these people who wanted to speak to her.

He was eager to hear how Professor Scabior was doing as the new Deputy but that could wait. "Having fun? Anyone doing particularly well so far?" She had obviously been here long before him.
"Mr. Lagerty!" Annie turned her attention away from the candidates and over to the always cheerful Board treasurer. She waited for him to have a seat before she replied again. "Yes, I am enjoying hearing all the candidates' thoughts in such an intimate setting. It's fascinating." And it was certainly helping her make up her own mind on who she was going to vote for.

Was there anyone doing well so far? "Hmm I think so," Annie's eyes flicked to the four or so that she really liked. "I can see some of them working well together, with you, and Cassandra, and Amoroso. Others... not so much."

And look at that, another man to join her table. Anastasia had no idea who this man was, or why he looked familiar to her, but she liked that he was wearing a hat. That was different, as were his manners. Since he complimented her, he could certainly join her table.

"Sure," the redhead replied with a polite smile, "be my guest, Mr....." Charming Old Man!

....

Louisa's attention was temporarily on the two men that sat at the table she and the headmistress were sharing (she recognized the three broomsticks man). The former Ravenclaw waved at both of them with a big smile on her face (because she was sitting with super important people now!!! and she won't budge). Oh! Louisa wanted to be an ambassador AND was going to be studying to become one! "That's wonderful news, dear!" the redhead whispered back with a bit of pride in her tone. Lookithat, she had had a hand in the education of an ambassador! So proud! So far! Annie even reached over to give Lousia's hand an encouraging pat pat.

Now, should she ask a question of her own, to keep the candidates on their toes? Hmmm? Yes, Annie decided, yes she should.

"Candidates," the redhead spoke up from her spot. She felt important with all these eyes on her, and kind of hoped her question would spark some debate. That's what they were here for, duh. So she waited for their attention before asking her question.

"One of the Governors' duties which sometimes, but hopefully not often, comes up, is the replacing of staff members who are found to be inadequate or unsatisfactory at their job. How would you handle a situation in which you had to address the work performance of the Hogwarts staff? And as a related question, from time to time the Governors are responsible for filling staff vacancies with their own choice of hire when the Headmistress cannot find a suitable candidate. What procedure would you follow in that event?"

She blinked and gave them all fake inquisitive smiles as she waited for their answers.

Before he could do so much as flash another smile at Annie, he noticed a young lady wave to him. Should I know her? Oh dear, I hope not... But no, she didn't trigger any memories. He satisfied himself with an inclination of the head and a tip of his hat in her direction.

"Berg. Bjorn Berg, at your service. Campaign manager for Mr. Erik Vinteren, security expert extraordinaire." He took a seat. "Excellent choice of dessert, madame. Strawberry cheesecake, no? One of my personal favorites here at Florean's." Before he could say anything else, the debate had started.

SPOILER!!: Nolan Reynolds
Quote:

Ah yes, playing to Erik's strength: security. Bjorn grinned in obvious pleasure. He eyed the Headmistress carefully to determine her reaction. By her body language, he sensed that she was not quite pleased with Nolan's response. Knowing he was one of Erik's main threats, Bjorn jumped on the opportunity to water the seed of discontent. "Fellow wants everything looked in to! The staff is there to TEACH, not to pry into every little practical joke that happens-in a castle full of teens," he said, loud enough for Annie to hear.

Whereas Erik's answer... Pure genius as always. Bjorn nodded appreciatively during his speech,, then clapped loudly at its end. "Well said!" he exclaimed to the room in general.

And then the Headmistress surprised him. She asked a question of her own, which in and of itself was not surprising. But the content of the question-or, rather, what content she left OUT-was what interested him. She was insecure in her power, though she'd never admit it to anyone. "Ah yes, hearkening back to the Educational Decrees of the Fudge era. Excellent question, Headmistress. I, too, would love to hear these responses." Cue dangerous territory for the candidates. He was confident in Erik's abilities, but not so much in certain others'. Internally, he was grinning at the possibilities that would soon present themselves.

Harold was settling in and turned his attention for a moment away from the Headmistress to listen to Reynolds, the radio-personality bloke, and Vinterin answer questons.

"Great answers." Hops was truly impressed how they were handling the questions, even if they weren't exactly correct but they wouldn't be making the decision by themselves in the real instance.

When he had sat at the table with Annie he had noticed another man join them but he wasn't sure who it was. He was going to just focus on the candidates and his conversation but when the man introduced himself he couldn't help but become interested.

"Erik Vinteren's campaign manager? Mr. Berg, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Harold Lagerty, owner of the Three Broomsticks and Board of Governors Treasurer." He held out his hand to shake the other man's. "Erik is doing very well in these Elections, I'm quite impressed with your all's work."

"Yes, well it is certainly a good venue to get the public out and interacting." It was their children being educated at Hogwarts after all, they should know who they are voting for.

She did? Hops scanned the tables and allowed his eyes to stray longer on those that he was hoping would win seats. "Certainly." There were a few that he himself was surprised they were still in the running but others were clearly made for the campaign trail. "Whoever wins I just hope it allows for a continued harmonious relationship with you and the school Annie." They were supposed to work together as a team, no?

As Hops turned back to listen to how the candidates answered Annie's question he noticed that a younger lady had waved at him. She seemed rather familiar, a recently graduated Hogwarts student no doubt, so he waved back. "Afternoon, young lady. Learning up on who you are going to vote for?"

Since the debate was about to start. And the managers surely were familiar with each other. Also, the tables were put to make room for a good number of people. [/color]

Raelynn smiled towards Victoria before she took a small bite of the ice cream she grabbed when she entered. She smiled she remembered her name it took a good person to remember people's name especaily if they had only met them once. She took a seat next to them and said "Thanks,"

She took another bite as the other woman spoke. Why did she look so familiar? She gave a smile back to the woman, ah she was a manager too!! "Yes of Roxanne. I am Raelynn Spencer." Usually she never forgot names so not knowing this woman's name made her annoyed. She had to know it. Hmm Layla? Lila? Lizzie? Something with an L she knew it. She took another bite as she thought of some other names it could be and awaited for Victoria or the L named manager too speak.
