Pretty much what everyone else said

- the amount of deaths in the book
- the fact that i thought harry was dead after the chapter- "The Forest Again" but then he wasn't the chapter after that!!!
- ABERFORTH appearance
- creepy bathilda ! !
- ALBUS's PAST !!!
- SNAPE is good! whaaaatttt ?!?! !!!
- epilogue .... very odd ...

The Death Tolls suprised me the most. And deep down, Snape's innocents suprised me, because alot of the time I actually thought Snape was evil.

When Wormtail was strangled by the silver hand--he deserved it though.
Dumbledore=EVIL! I think he was eviler than the Dark Lord in his own way..........
Dobby's way of dying. I actually hadn't thought about what happened to the elf.

4. The Epilogue, but I loved it.
5. All the sneaking stuff
6. Kreacher having the locket

Durra: She did accually use a swear word that Marvolo Gaunt said about his daughter, nasty, nasty.

ME! I thought it! I would really love to know more detail. What they did from the battle til then, about the repair of Hogwarts, and about all the other characters like the Weasley family, Hagrid, Aberforth, who was Headmaster... what Harry, Ginny's, Ron's and Hermione's jobs were if they had them... did the rest of the wizarding world learn the story of what happened that night, were all the death eaters captured, and how the world returned back to normal... SO MUCH stuff.

However, the most surprising scene would have to be WormTail's death. The way that JKR wrote it was beyond anything I've ever read. Truly amazing. By far, one of my favorite scenes from the whole series.

I was very surprised at Dumbledore's youth, and did not expect it. I loved how we learnt more of his family, and his childhood...
Y'know, I had a little thought rise up in my mind as soon as Lupin came to Bill and Fleur's cottage and asked Harry to be godfather to Teddy. I thought, "This kid's not gonna end up just like Harry, is he? Losing his mum and dad from a young age?" I was right, sadly.
Also, Snape's relationship with Lily. That definitely took me by surprise.

1. Harry dying - I was really surprised and saddened by it
2. The whole Snape/Lily thing - didn't expect that AT ALL!
3. That neither Ron or Hermione came CLOSE to dying
4. Ron leaving them
5. Harry being so accepting of Snape
6. I was shocked at how badly Dumbledore was represented in DH
7. How most of the characters that died didn't really upset me that much (except Fred, cause I didn't think he'd die)
8. Percy not dying
9. Lupin's reaction to Tonks being pregnant - what the hell?!
10. How Snape had helped them...

Oh and JK said that Ginny would be like, awesome in this book.

Lots of things suprised me, that Snape was good, the deaths of dobby, fred , lupin, tonks, hedwig , mody, that Percy came back and admitted he was wrong!!!!

I also agree with Durro, how can you do a 19 years later chapter and not include hte other people who had such a great involvment with thel ast fight, what happend to luna, the other teachers, did hermione go back to her parents, and most of all The Weasley Family, how did George cope with the loss of his brother, did he continue Weasleys Wizarding Weezes, there is so much left untold.

Hedwig's death was one of the things I was actually shocked about. It was so sudden and ever so unexpected. I hadn't even taken into account that she could die, at all, it never crossed my mind..

Dumbledore + Grindewald. The entire thorough account of DD's family history. Showing us that DD was far from perfect. The fact that Grindewald was mentioned to such extent at all, also.

Lupin AND Tonks dying. I thought it was only going to be Lupin. Meh, sad <.<

Pettigrew's death scene. Was expecting him to die, but the manner of his death, oh brother...

Harry becoming godfather.

Snape and Lily being such good friends. I was more banking on the whole unrequited love aspect.

The not-so-nasty Kreacher.

The blue eye in the mirror shard.

Ron on his temporary leave. I was as shocked as Harry & Hermione.

Voldemort's death was umm.... somehow not right. I was expecting something more spectacular, I guess.

Less people actually dying than I reckoned.

^ A lot of things surprised me, as you can see. LOL. I'll just resort to 'etc'.

1. Dumbledore's obsession, during his youth, with the Deathly Hallows. And Dumbledore's family and youth in general, about him being best friends with Grindelwald.
2. Aberforth Dumbledore finally stepping forward! (Not really a shock or anything, but I'm glad that it finally happened with Mr. Goat taking charge!)
3. Baby Teddy being born
4. Swear words (first time the Jo has ever used proper swear words in the books, and I'm happy about it too because they were necessary). Go Molly!
5. Fred died.
6. Wormtail killing himself, the little coward.
7. Draco trying to be as loyal as he was possible of being to Voldemort, but eventually accepting Harry's help and being "good".
8. Narcissa's lie. Well, I can't say that it was surprising that she'd lie for the son that she loves so much, for Harry not killing him, for Harry saving him. I'm happy with Narcissa because she always had a good--if misguided--heart, unlike her Death Eater sister. I'm just surprised that she was even near the battle considering that Draco had her wand.

Snape turned out to be the best!(according to me anyways.)

and how Snape and Lily were best friends and that he was truly in love w/ her even risking his own life for Harry just for her even though he hated Harry so MUCH!

--That Narcissa pretty much protected Harry by not telling Voldemort he was alive.
--Snape and Lily being like neighbors, knowing each other before Hogwarts. I've always assumed they were friends at Hogwarts but I never considered them knowing each other away from school.
--Dumbledore's past.
--The fact that Snape died... I guess I was in denial that it would happen. I love Snape.
--The ridiculous epilogue.

1. Mrs. Weasley finished off Bella. Sorry, but I still think Neville should have been the one to do that.
2. While we're on the subject, Nev killing Nagini. I liked it, I thought it was a cool twist.
3. Crabbe going completely insane in the RoR
4. Tonks dying alongside Remus
5. Fred and Dobby's deaths
6. Luna's dad turning out to be so...heartless
7. Dumbledore's entire past. I was completely shocked at the whole thing

The deaths I guess, especially Dobby's and Fred's. I never really thought about who'd die, since I just wanted to read it and not fuss so much before, but I really was shocked noticing Tonks and Lupin had died. Voldemort was sure and I kind of knew Snape would too, though not like that.
Also surprising was Molly's outburst^^ - just great!
When Hermione kissed Ron, too. I knew they would but that moment just seemed crazy, I really had a laugh.
then when Narcissa was ,well, acually kind to Harry - unbelievable.

I have so many.

1. Percy returning! To me, the biggest shocker in the book
2. Death eaters controlling hogwarts! not cool!
3. Harry being able to go back to life!
4. NEVILLE! His entire character shocked me in the book. There was no mention (except one quick name toss) in the first 25 chapters or so, but then in the end, he just took control of everything and was awesome. That he was the one to kill Nagini was sweet.
5. The sword of Gryffindor-NOT A HORCRUX!
6. Mrs. Weasley's charge at Bella
7. Dobby dying and how Fred, Remus, and Dora died
8. Narcissa lying about Harry being dead. If it weren't for her, some stuff may not have happened the way it was s'posed to.
9. How Wormtail died
10. Dumbledore's past (Friends with Grindelwald!?)
11. Nevilles' grandma. She is one tough lady. AWESOME!
12. Kreacher!!!!!!!!!!! Second biggest shocker to me. He just needed to know that he was loved and he turned out to be wicked cool.
13. How Snape died...not that he died, was good, or liked Lily (could see it all coming)...just how he died. I like him now.
14. The use of a lot, a lot, a lot of polyjuice potion
15. Bathilda...Nagini...one...wierd....
16. Snape was the one who helped Harry find the sword.
17. How voldemort died. I was expecting a bit more battl-y hoo-hah, but, oh well, he's dead and that's all that matters.
