Who wouldn't love? *sniffs* Snape is Love! Snape's love for Lily wasnt just love, it was intense love with no expectations.
Who would do that for a kid, a kid whose father was James the very person he hated so much?
But maybe he loved Lily far too much that it over shadowed his hatred for James Potter.
In the chapter, The Prince's Tale, I can't describe how I broke down, a lot of you wud have too  ... but the description was so heart wrenching , It had to make u cry or u wouldn't be human.
The little kid Snape watching Lily with a greedy look, he'd loved her from first sight I guess, the kid Snape who wore his mother's smock under the coat, the kid who had a troubled family. The only good thing in his life was Lily. And he lost her... to James of all people.
But when he called her a Mudblood , he never really meant it, it was just a spur of the moment thing, like something unforgivable coming out of ur mouth without really ever meaning it to, I guess Lily should have given him a second chance. But thats life. You move on. Yet there are people who dont. Severus Snape was one of them.
At that moment when he was dying, he knew or he'd wished for Potter to have been there, and Harry was. He didnt want to die before letting him know how much he'd loved his mother and Harry too, and yes probably have a one last look at Lily's eyes. |

When i first read it i thought it was just so that Snape, could show him the memories but then you think about it and its becuase he realized that he may have saved Lily's son's life, and he wanted to remember her as much as he could. But i also think that he just wanted to remeber Harry and the love that he shared for harry. I think the love he shared for lily passed into harry as he taught harry in school. He learned to love harry, as if it was him and lily's child. | |

I agree with your theory. I think Snape wanted to see Harry's eyes and see Lily looking back at him, not Harry, because Snape wanted to die with his last memory being Lily's eyes. | |

Initially, I thought that by looking into Harry’s eyes Snape was sort of trying to convey something to Harry – like, “you’ll soon know of the true me” or something to that effect, as if he wanted Harry's last "real-time" memory of him (for lack of a better way to put it) to be something more than the crude Snape he always saw, but... then I remembered Harry having Lily’s eyes and how much that was emphasized (and I had a suspicion that there was something more than met the eye with Snape, and even Lily – something with the both of them together, as well as that I always knew there was some good in Snape and it all tied together somehow) and then I understood that he wanted to see her eyes one last time, and probably not convey anything to Harry at all. But who really knows? Perhaps it was both... | |

I agree, poor Snape when he was dying just wanted to have one more look into Harry's eyes which were the same as Lily's! His love for Lily was what kept him going until the end and just wanted to be loved, it was soooo sad when he said "look at me"! When I first read it, I didn't understand I just thought Snape was trying to give him the memories, but he just wanted to see Lily in Harry! | |

This moment in the book was possibly my favorite. It showed how much Snape truley cared for Lily, and it was sweet how he wanted one last look at her eyes before he left the world forever <3 | |

I think it was important for JK to kill off Snape in the end because, without Lily he had been suffering his whole life anyways. Why keep him around any longer just to suffer more.
And from the moment Snape was speaking to DD about lily I knew that was why her forced harry to look at him. The one thing that confuses me is the page where DD asks him if he loves Harry. Then he produces his Doe. Next DD asks 'if it has been this way?' and Snape says 'always.'
SO is he referring to both or just lily or just harry? I personly think both. I think he did love the side of Harry that was Lily.
What do you all think?

I do think that snape wanted to die looking into the eyes that were just like lily's, but I think it could also be intrepteting snape finally seeing harry as harry as well. | |

Snape really l♥ved Lilly... I find that hard to believe.. I mean I l♥ved That part of the book but I just can't believe Snape L♥ved Harry's Mother, Lilly. When he looked Snape in the eyes I felt weird I mean, it was the middle of the night when I was reading that chapter but I couldn't believe it. But most of all, I can't believe he l♥ved her and he still called her a mudblood! I mean he L♥ved her! | |

Oh, I knew when I read it that he wanted to look into Lily's eyes as he died. He had been looking into her eyes all this time on the face of the man he despised. He hated James for taking Lily from him, not for the things that he had done to him, but for taking the woman that he loved. I knew it would finally be revealed why it was so important that he had his mother's eyes, and that everyone pointed that out. JK made sure she reminded us that he has his mother's eyes, definate foreshadowing on her part. | |

Thats why he looked into Harry's eyes. BUT in Snape's memories, Dumbeldore didn't say anything about Snape needing to tell Harry that he loved Lily ...

I think that because Lily was Snape's love of his life, all he wanted, at least, was to die seeing her eyes, feeling her, and Harry was the only and most real reflect of Lily at that moment. | |

Yeah, I believe that, too: Snape wanted to die for Lily, see Lily before he died. But he couldn't, so he saw into Harry's eyes. Lily's eyes or, rather, a trace of Lily, a trace of the only one he had ever loved, were the last thing he saw in this world. It would have eased his death, make the pain more bearable. He wanted to prove he was good, and never could do that in his life, but he was. It all makes perfect sense, and it's beautiful. Jo really was at her best here, one of the moments I loved most in the book. It brought to tears to my eyes, and still does.
