I love his character.

Always have. Even after Siry popped up and stole his crown as my favorite. XD I don't know what to think of him after his death, though. Aside from the whole innocent/evil details that everyone has already mentioned...But, I just can't picture the AfterLife. What did he ultimately gain? XD I know, it's not all about gain...But, that's why the pity is so great.

I mean...Lily would love Smape for saving Harry despite how he horrible he treated him. And...yet, I don't think Siry nor James would completely forgive the evil git. Thank him, maybe. But, to be best buddies? Blegh, that's a pile of rubbish.

It's kinda like...Regulus. No matter how innocent he turned out in the end...I won't be able to forget the deviousness that he did show. And, honestly? I think that's why I've always quietly j'adored his character. He was upfront and followed through with things on his own accord. Yet, he followed using his head first in regards to his heart. That's where, I believe, he and the Marauders differed mostly. Dark Arts, even as DD mentioned regarding his case, were extremely tempting...And while that's no excuse, [Take Harry's instance] it does broaden the picture.

Although, either way...the last point is for sure. Ever since the beginning and until forever, Snivvelus will remain a prodigy.

Poor Snape. I still kind of hate him though. Lily being friends with him surprised me, but not his love for her. I had theorized that was the importance of Harry's eyes.

I always had faith in Snape, I predicted his love for Lily is what turned him loyal to Dumbledore - But I had no idea they knew eachother before Hogwarts and were best friends *I really liked that* As soon as the Patronus Doe appeared I thought 'Lily' then when it led Harry to the sword I thought 'Snape' then I was convinced of his true character and the depth of his love for her. I was very sad when he died - looking into Lily's eyes through Harry *aww*

I really wished Snape had survived, that ending wasn't fitting for him. Especially knowing that Voldemort killed him for nothing as he was not the true master of the wand. It was a nice inclusion in the epilogue when Harry explained to Albus Severus who he is named after.

SNAPE IS MY HERO !!!!!

i feel horrible for doubting him in the beginning of the book.
i wish he died in a better way, such as saving Harry or something like that....

Just wondering, did harry tell everyone that snape was never bad to begin with after voldi dies? snape needs his name cleared !!

Hmmm.... I predicted something like it. I mean, sometimes I really thought Snape was evil, but when the his story line appeared in the book, I sat back and thought, that all makes perfect sense. It was as if, I knew he story line all along

I cried a bit when he died...it just was so unfair....I'm usually on the Dark Lord's side, but him ordering Nagini to kill Snape......made me turn against him a bit. I'm still a loyal Death Eater, mind you, I haven't gone all traitory and stuff......and Snape's life was so.....terrible.....couldn't JK just give him a little bit of happiness? Just a bit?

ZOMG Nagini kills Snape LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLZ SPOILER

I feel bad for Snape now, finding out that all that time Snape cared about Harry but was repulsed by how he looked like his father. Its horrible to learn that a character that I hated was good the whole time. I can hardly fathom the idea of Snape being in love with Lily and losing her to James. That's gotta suck, no wonder they hated each other. I pity him and I really wish that I had never disliked him like I did, now that I know the truth.

I still would never ever say Snape was good.

The way he treated the students the first 6 years was disgraceful. Then when he became headmaster, even after promising Dumbledore to ensure their safety, he allowed the torture of the students by Death Eaters. Using the CRUCIATUS curse! And who else knows what. Neville and Seamus had gouges out of their faces. Cripes.

Neither good nor evil. Partly.

Being obsessed with someone who's gone a long time ago seems first to be unbearable.
But the unfulfilled can keep one alive.
It's like a contradiction to what Dumbledore has said to Harry in the first bood: "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live."

ps. Remember the V'Day Ship Off? SS'ers didn't seem to appreciate the Snape/Lily ship. So, don't drown it next time.

definitely wasnt expecting that...i thought i he would die as the evil man who killed Dumbledore - so when Harry looked through his memories and saw his life in love with Lily it was kinda creepy

i mean i figured Snape was just a normal Death Eater and dumbledore had been wrong to trust him...BIG surprise...

Still, in the epilogue when Harry says snape was a slytherin and probably the bravest man he had ever known , i almost cried...
its much nicer this way rather than how i imagined Snape in this book.

It was exactly as I predicted (and hoped!) though like many others I was unaware Lily and he had such a history. I simply guessed that Snape was in love with Lily, that Dumbledore asked Snape to kill him and that Snape was always loyal to Dumbledore. And that Voldie would likely kill Snape in the end and that Snape would turn out to be a hero once H & co found out the truth.

Pretty much just how I expected. I was so glad I turned out to be right! And so sad to read chapter 33. I cried through the whole thing! And I hardly ever cry! (I didn't cry for the deaths of Dumbledore or Sirius or Cedric.)

GREAT writing!

Oh, I forgot to say that while reading DH, I began to doubt myself. I started to think I was wrong about Snape and that he truly was evil.

So I was very relieved when he turned out to be good in the end.

At first i thought he was evil

and then when i discussed the 6th book with ppl, i thought he could be good

and then i got confused again and decided snape was his own team

I guess in the end it is sort of true..because even though he did decide to be on the good guys team, he only was in it for his own self and that was because he was there for lily

Aw, its soo sad hes gone

I fully expected something like this to happen.... But I didn't want it to happen. J.k. Made us Dislike snape and not trust him so much That I was stuck in that time. I wasn't ready to give up the blame on him for killing dumbledore but with that hardcore evidence I couldn't help but to. Snape was a good guy along, And for what voldermort couldn't understand. LOVE.

I have always liked Snape. No matter how mean and ruthless he might have been to students, I couldn't help but be more intrigued, fascinated than disgusted, or anything of the sort.

Ever since book 5, I started developing this rather fervent belief that there was something with Snape/Lily. And that it was more unrequited than anything else. I was pretty much expecting most of what chapter 33 entailed, therefore. That didn't stop me from bawling. Seriously, I cried my eyes out, prolly the only time throughout the entire book.

I'm sure many will see Snape, in the wake of DH, as the real hero of the series: tragic, forever torn, and braver than most would have deigned to believe. Don't call him a coward, indeed.

Despite the many signs that pointed to Snape being evil...I always hoped he wasn't. He was terrific, and I loved his story. Although I have to say that I am quite...disappointed in his death. He could have gone in a more heroic way.

That said, Snape was a wonderful character.

This book, especially the Prince's memories, was big for Snape. Snape was good. Snape killed Dumbledore on his orders, and it was Dumbledore who was begging Snape to kill him. Snape was against the Dark Lord ever since Voldemort had threated Lily. Snape had been in love with Lily and was once her best friend. Snape had known Lily before Hogwarts and had lived in the same town as her. Snape had died looking into Harry's eyes because he wanted to see Lily's eyes. Snape became Headmaster of Hogwarts and spoke to Dumbledore's portrait in order to plan. Snape was never the true master of the Elder Wand. Snape was killed by his not-master's pet for no reason at all. Snape gave up all those memories to Harry. Snape really did care. Snape was good. Snape was good and one of the bravest people that Harry ever knew. I've always thought that Snape was an amazing character. No, I'm not going to say that I liked him, but I thought he was an amazing character. I'm glad to say that I now like Snape as a person and a brilliant character. After he killed Dumbledore, I hated him... Then, I thought for a while and eventually came to the conclusion that Dumbledore was a man to be trusted, and therefore Snape was to be trusted and that Snape was good. We now know why Dumbledore never could reveal "the best of" Severus Snape...because Severus made him promise.

Talking

Near the beginning of the book, with the whole, erm, "ear" bit, I was starting to have my doubts... but then The Prince's Tale came along. I was making such a commotion of, "HA! I KNEW IT!" and squealing noises all throughout that chapter. That was like, the one theory I was absolutely certain of. What a great chapter. I love Snape. He's officially my favorite character of all time.

I didn't figure out the doe Patronus until about 100 pages after it appeared, I think they mentioned Harry's stag and I was like, "OH MY GOD THAT WAS TOTALLY SNAPE BACK THERE" and such.

Yeah. I'm just wallowing in my triumph. Sorry.

Baaaaaby Snaaaaape~ x3 SO CUTE!

After he killed Dumbledore I really didn't hate Snape. O-o Just because I had a feeling that there was a method to both Dumbe and Sev's madness. There had to be...

So I loved the Snape Story Line. I, like many people had a feeling he loved Lil's, it was just so obvious. And it pretty much went down the way I pictured it. I'm glad the truth behind Snapey Poo is out. ! Now people will finally show him the respect he deserves.<3

There was always no question in my mind that Snape was good. I thought that perhaps he might die trying to protect Harry, not the way that he did, and I was a little shocked with the memories started coming out of him (didn't expect that at all ). I always had an inkling that Snape loved Lily, and after the whole memory sequence I really felt sorry for him. All he ever wanted was to be with Lily, but he went about it the wrong way That's why he wanted to see Harry's eyes at the end, right? Cause he had Lily's eyes (I believe I deciphered this part of the story correctly).

It was unexpected for me and I loved it!! I didn't get a chance to read any of the previous books before reading the last one(I was away on vacation at my dad's house, my books being at my mom's house) and I couldn't really think about what I thought could possibly happen in the book. Even if I did read the other books again I don't think I could have thought of this. It was a great story line for Snape and I am actually quite sad he died. I did figure that killing Dumbledore was planned.
