it is a very controversial book, it was awful to read, terrible to understand and difficult to sink in... but I believe that it is how it was supposed to be, only Jo knows everything, she didn't mean to do it another way if she did what she did

damn u people are fast readers, ive bein at it all day since it came out and im only half way through. And so far its really good. it has bein draging on a bit for the past 2 or 3 chapters but i think im at a turning point in the book now.

what i loved about it (and was upset about) was that within the first 3 chapters we have a character killed off, pull us in right away.

ive got family thing tomorrow and then work for 5 days straight so im not gonna finish it by wednesday at the latest.

I loved it! I thought it was a great ending. I'm so happy my 2 fave characters (Harry and Draco) lived! That made the book the best!

This must have been the best book in the series. I mean, no other book I've ever read made me shed a single tear, not even OotP or HBP. DH however, made me cry during chapteeeers 34 and half of 33 and 35 and in the last page. So yeah... It really got to me.

I cried a lot, especially when it was turning out who was the Death Master and who was the real owner of the Wand and when Harry died and... oh, gee...

The book was great. I can't say it was the best because in many ways I still think PS / SS is the one because it was the first. Without it the other books would not have mattered.

Of course, I'm gonna read it a second time, cos lack of sleep probably made me miss stuff, but I thought it was wicked awesome. Terribly sad and melancholy, but awesome. I can actually see the movie being a really gritty, dark film.

I'm not sure whether I liked the book or not, have mixed feelings.
There were great parts that I truly enjoyed but there are others that did not surprise me at all.

For example, I had read Snape's story many times before, both in fanfiction sites and theories' topics. I felt like a 'deja vu' with that plot.
The parts when Harry, firstly, sees his beloved dead ones and, later on, when he awakes in King Cross were amazingly similar to Melindaleo's fanfic ("Harry Potter and the Seventh Horcrux"). Not exactly the same but nonetheless astonishing alike.

Now I understand why JKR said some people will love the book and others will loathe it. Guess I am somewhere in between.

*Always.*

I'd agree with Nahima here. There were some brilliant parts that truly left me shaken and moved, but other parts just had me going, "No, oh, noooo." The Harry/Ginny was handled better in this book (mainly because there's less of it) but the Snape/Lily made me cringe. I've never liked this pairing, mainly because it's so overused. She writes death a lot better than relationships, I think.

Snape's death was like Sirius's in the movie. Sudden, and the shock doesn't hit you till a minute after before your heart feels like it dropped down into your stomach and then is ripped out again.

I'll probably read the book again, there were parts I missed. Overall though, I think it was much better than the HBP.

The last bit made my head ache though. You sure JKR wasn't trawling through fanfiction.net?

I couldn't agree with this statement anymore. Although, I would possibly add on: She writes death a lot better than anything else. The ending was disapointing, by her standards, and nowhere near as emotional as the previous three. I think this was because there was no great death. Sure Lupin, Tonks, and Fred died, but their deaths were merely mentioned and not dwelled on. I think a more fitting end would have been Harry's death. Nonetheless, it was a very good book; I found the first three quarters in particular to be wonderfully written.

Intense disappointment.

LoveditLoveditLoveditLoveditLovedit!
It was extremely evil and heart-wrenching and edge-of-your-seat teetering, but I loved every moment of it! It was the perfect way to end the series. I was getting a little worried half way through when so many more unanswered questions/problems had been thrown at us, and there was only 300 pages left to explain all of that and everything else we'd been waiting for throughout the entire series! However, JKR pulled it off perfectly and we found out everything we'd been wanting to know, and more.
*squee* I'm reading it for the second time, currently. Although I should be sleeping...38 hours without sleep and counting!

I laughed a lot, I cried just as much, i got so silent i was sucked into this moment, while reading it. It was amazing, the best thing i have ever read, and i don't think there will ever be a better book.

I too, laughed and cried. Which is what I expected. This book was a rollercoaster of emotions, and although the ending did confuse me a bit, I really enjoyed it.

It will make a kick-butt movie.

I liked it, but that could just be because it was the final one and all of my favorite ships got together.

I don't have as much of a problem with L/S as some of you; unrequited love is so sad, but it makes Snape seem more human and it's easier to sympathize with him.

It was definitely verrry different from the others, but then Harry wasn't in school, so that makes sense.

At first I thought that the ending was too cheesy or happy, but then I decided that it wasn't. It's not like nobody had died, and I think Harry deserved a break.

I also liked the epilogue. Then again, I love epilogues, and I love chick flicks and romantic comedies...so...

Overall, I really enjoyed it, but of course I'm sad it's over. And I was so anxious to find out what happened, I didn't read some of the battle scenes as thoroughly as I should have. I'll definitely have to reread it again soon.

I loved it! Although there were some things I didn't like, but not everything can go smoothly during war-time can it?

The Good:

- Remus and Tonks getting married & Tonks having baby Teddy!
- Snape, his love for Lily *sweet*
- Molly's duel with Bella! "NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU B****!" the best line in the book! (Nicely done JKR)
- Mad-Eye's Death; very sad *but, the death he would have wanted I think*
- the return of many characters from past books
- the entire school (apart from Slytherin) turning on Pansy Parkinson
- Percy's return
- each horcrux being destroyed by a different person *sharing the glory round*
- Neville killing Nagini with the sword
- Minerva calling on the statues of Hogwarts to defend their school *I could really picture that*
- the Deathly Hallows; hallows vs horcruxes *very clever*
- Dumbledore's tragic family and past; it's makes him more human.
- Kreacher leading the Hogwarts house-elves into battle *cool*

The Bad:

- Tonks AND Remus dying *no way!*
- Fred's death *how's George going to cope without his side-kick?*
- the Weasley's gain back one son, only to lose another
- Umbridge and Rita Skeeter *God how I hate them*
- the Malfoy's; all show and no substance *Narcissa's the best of the lot*
- Harry not exposing Voldemort as a half-blood *I thought this would be a HUGE deal, I was shocked this didn't happen*

And The Ugly:
- George's ear *gross*
- Nagini inside Bathilda *again gross*

I loved the book. It kept me hooked for ten straight hours..and I would not have it end any other way. Call me a idealist, but the epilouge was what I wanted.

It made me laugh, cry and actually feel frightened for characters I have come to know and love.

Loved it.
