Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | Best "redeemed" Characters love the book right? im really happy that some of the charcters turned out good in the ending or was redeemed, and i hope we share the same thoughts about it, so cast in your best "redeemed" character and post in why... here's my thoughts... Dudley Dursley - after long and long years of taunting and jeering Harry, he has come to the realization that Harry isnt a waste of space and remembering that Harry save him from the dementors, shook Harry's hands too..clearly unexpected! Kreacher - From passing information to Voldemort, happy to be with Bella and Narcissa, murmuring offensive words, he was then understood by just being loyal to his kind masters and therefore to Harry as well, serving them (with Ron and Hermione) while staying at Grimmauld Place, he then admired Regulus' bravery for standing out to Voldemort and ended up rallying Hogwarts' house-elves to fight Voldemort... Percy Weasley - from being Ministry's pet and abandoning truth and his family, he turned out at last before the battle starts, saying sorry for everthing and admitted he's ministry-loving, family-disowning, power-hungry moron...bonus points for shielding Fred's dead body from further harm... Severus Snape - where to start? from taunting Harry from book1, we loathed him as Harry loathed Snape but then he turn out to be a brave, trustworthy, outstanding headmaster with 20 convincing memories to boot!! cant enumerate all of them... Albus Dumbledore - name was dragged to ground after he died, the truth and lies, family history, death of sister, friends with Grindelwald, all in all his past was revealed, it was unbelievable and admit it you too have doubted him too in the middle of the book, but then he was redeemed too at the ending, Harry, assured Dumbledore was never free from guilt, and Dumbledore resented everything what happened and still turned out to be our beloved Dumbledore we always loved... The Malfoys - hesitant from book6, Draco cant kill Dumbledore, and still Harry save Draco from burning rumble, Narcissa being gentle to Harry while inspecting if he's dead and told Voldemort that he is, and in the end, turned to the good side... |

And i hated dumbledore. | but Dumbledore's great, i mean, everyone of us has his own "dark side" right? its just we readers, i think, found some difficulty accepting that our ever-loving muggle-protector recently died Dumbledore would have that kind of past...
im still not believing, the truth and lies about Dumbledore, until i read it that Dumbledore admit it, but then i understand its a burden for him, and he relented what happened... and i believe its similar to some of us, there are part of our past that we want to forget, we want to get out, or still living with it,
but as with the story, Dumbledore fought it, and he make up for it, and i think that's the one of the parts why Jo made Dumbledore like that, so even from someone who's very reliable and trustworthy and had a terrible past he could still stand up, move on and carry on his life, that's a moral story i guess...
and wouldn't you be glad that Dumbledore was still there at DH? i mean, i cant think for a situation or reason for Dumbledore to show up, since he died... and well there are other situations for him to appear but Jo made more than that, she was able to come up a past life story about Dumbledore, and i think that's great, awesome! |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Isabella Cortella Second Year | Severus Snape for sure; I KNEW he was good. My theory proved true. It's just terrible that it took till DEATH for anyone to redeem him. His whole story was pretty darned painful. He sacrificed everything to help people who had long since given up their little faith for him.
I was also proud of Percy. That bit... gosh. I squealed and cried. And then... so soon after, Fred died =[ It was terrible.
Kreacher, too, gets major kudos from me. =D
I don't believe Dumbledore ever needed to be redeemed; you merely had to have faith in him and realize that everyone has mistakes. Even the great Albus Dumbledore. |

[/b] | yeah, i thought about that while making the thread, i thought too that Dumbledore couldnt be considered redeemed because he didnt really totally turned bad, i just like to point out that he's Albus Dumbledore, he's not just any other wizard celebrity, and strikingly nasty rumours with heavy evidences about him especially if it antagonists him through his shown principles shook my faith in him, and i believe some of you too guys....
may be its true, yes the rumors, made an insult to his currently clean image he have even after dying but it made an impact on the DH plot, that's why i included him....
talking about nasty rumors right now and relating to our own reality when it comes to rumors, truth and lies, i was wondering why Jo only included the whole blow about Dumbledore on DH, i mean why now? would it be better if she also slip Dumbledore's past in the previous books? well, Grindelwald, and his brother was mentioned and other stuff too....
Its like, because for me it was Jo's style in writing to slip some information about a character whether good or bad in previous books..like for example about Dumbledore she could also open up some of his past while Rita Skeeter tried to destablize him in GoF, or while the MoM also tried to bring him down in OotP...something like that? so we could wonder about that too while anticipatin' for DH to come out....just a thought... |

| There's no doubt in my mind that was Snape. He always represented the great question in the whole series. What we needed was a justification for his acts and we finally had it. He was always good.
As for Kreacher, I thought that he changed too quickly and he was up to something. It turns out that he wasn't... good for him!
Dudley, well... he showed some decency, still a long way for redemption.
And Dumbledore... well, something about him had to come up. No one is 100% good, as some have pointed out. Dumbledore himself said that he has made mistakes and besides, he was devasted at his sister's funeral, to the point of not even defending himself when Aberforth hit him in the nose... and probably not even caring to mend it afterwards, being a great wizard, I am sure he could have fixed it perfectly. It was like he needed to leave some physical mark in himself to constantly remember him of his mistake... it was his own punishment to his behaviour. And, probably, his continuous belief in second chances was because he once needed one so badly. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jack Joseph Langley Sixth Year | SNAPE!! ZOMG! I knew he would turn out good! And his story at the end that tells us everything about why he is good just was amazing! Definetly my favourite redeemed character. One of the bravest person Harry Potter ever knew. *tear*
Narcissa Malfoy :: *hugs her* What she did in the forest was so brave and sweet. I knew she was being kinda selfish only thinking about her family but she saved Harry all the same. That caught my heart when I read that.
KREACHER! Bless him! <3 New respect for him. Is he dead now? I don't remember. I think I read something about him in the battle at Hogwarts but I'm not certain. I'll make a thread. Anyway ... he was so good and helpful to Harry. So cute of him. Loooove him.
Percy. Super snob to super hero. lol. Not my favourite comeback but definetly one that was cute. He was awesome and so brave. Go Percy! |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Tonksamelia (Tonks) for short. Third | I'd deffinately have to say it's between Kreacher and Snape. I mean the absolute worst was thought of them for so long and in the end they both came through in so many ways and in some of the most important for Harry and his friends. They both got treated badly but still chose to continue with good intentions at heart no matter what. I loved the way she finished up for them both, it was just sad. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | Definitely Snape. From being a character I despised since book 1, he's now one of my favorite characters. I'm rereading all the books again while keeping in mind that Snape is pretending to hate Harry while at the same time trying to keep him safe.
And yeah, Kreacher too i loved Kreacher in DH! |

| Snape hands down!!! I always thought that Snape was good and really working for the Order and that he loved Lily. But to see that he gave his memories to Harry so he could know the truth and that ne never waviered in his love for Lily? That was just so heart-breaking. To know that everyone, in the Order and the DE, doubted him and did not respect him. And still he never waviered.
I cried like a baby. From when Snape died in the chapter before and told Harry Quote: |
"Take...it...take...it..."
| And when Snape said , I had to stop reading to get a box of tissues. What really got me was when Snape tells Dumbledore he is not a coward and Dumbledore replies - Quote: |
"No," agreed Dumbledore. "You are a braver man by far than Igor Karkaroff. You know I sometimes think we Sort too soon..."
| Then when Dumbeldore tells Snape after seeing his patronus, Quote:
"After all this time?"
"Always," said Snape.
| I really balled my eyes out! Just think that is why Lily's eyes have been important this entire story. Snape is JKR's BEST written character hands down!!! Brillant!
Now, Krecher is runner-up for me. I would hve never thought in a million years he would turn nice and helpful towards the trio. I think he has one of the best lines in the story too! Which made me cry for a different reason - I was laughing so hard!!
when Kreacher beemed Mundungus and said Quote: |
"Perhaps just one more, Master Harry, for luck?"
| PRICELESS! |

OMG!, i cried too... its really heart breaking, really, after all this time, for me its very hard to detect the real Severus if you're going to look at his character from the first 6 books and with these memories filling those gaps in time in order to redeem him was totally hair raising experience for, like i cant believe it and im very very sad as well while reading....
looove Snape! |
