Home of the Poems Thread!

Ottery wrote this for the thread, and he will be hosting it. So, give it up for Ottery St. Catchpole!!

Hello fellow Dumbledore’s Army recruits, ten shun! … I’m your gracious host Ottery St. Catchpole and the Official Windbag of the DAFC … wait a minute … I mean the Official Poet of Dumbledore’s Army.

*Everyone claps politely or I sick Dobby on ‘em*

I write poetry off the top of my head … sometimes off the top of other people’s heads, but not so much since they don’t seem to like it, ruins their hair they say. Anyways, this thread is the poetic repository (not to be confused with suppository … trust me you don’t want that!) which is just a fancy way of saying the home of poetry of and about and inspired by Dumbledore’s Army.

They can be sonnets or Odes, or little limericks about the members we love, like Ron, Ernie, or even Zacharias Smith, the situations in the books, like when we found out Hermione’s patronus is an otter, or nargles in mistletoe, whatever.

So if you’ve got a poem about the DA is the place to play. Please post poems only! If you like the poets work, I’m sure they’d love to get a PM that says sweet things otherwise this will become spam central.

Here for your reading pleasure, in chronological order, the poems I've written for Dumbledore's Army ...

It started, oddly enough with this little one right here:

I love Ron

Hey kids, sorry I haven't posted in a bit, busy and all.

I was kind of hoping Oja had taken up writing poetry *sighs* but well intent is good. *smoochies* I have copies of all my poems Oja, but thank you.

This next one I wrote well for my dearest sweetest friends. Cheeky Weasley and Kels, they're really the greatest people on earth, and they pwn me totally. They mend my heart ♥ , and they make me whole when I'm broken, but most importantly, they know how to be true friends, and I love them. Which is why I wrote these poems for them ... I wrote the first one for Cheeky on the occasion when she had just joined the DAFC.

Love comes softly in the night, and sometimes it's a fright!

When it comes to kicking

the DA's got more than it's share of sass,
I feel bad for the Death Eaters cuz they're gonna get creamed,
and I'm not just saying that cuz I'm full of steam ...

Harry's got the heart and soul of the gang,
Ron's got the master plan,
Hermione's a genius in her own right,
and Dean and Seamus really know how to fight.

Ginny's going to use her bat bogey hex on you,
Dude all I can say is, "Sorry you're screw-ed",
Fred and George were once members of our jolly squad,
of course now they've got their shop. How Mod.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some of our friends,
like Luna who's good at turning things on their end,
Oh and Cho but she quit over a little spat,
with poor little Harry who doesn't wear hats.

Colin's cool too in his own way,
WTF where they thinking putting Nigel in his play--
ce, the directors a dork, I'm sorry to say,
but Rupert's in the movie so get outta my way!!!!!!!!!11111111111

Dumbledore's Army or Love's Home

We all know how we'll win the day,
it's not through sparring and yelling okay,
well I hope there's a lot of sword fights and spells cast,
because otherwise it would be a boring fight last,
but anyways, what I'm here to say,
is that love is going to win the day.

The D.A. is home to the brave and true,
to the smartly ambitious which the craven will rue,
friends, and mates, all fighting side by side,
alls fair in love and war, get away I see pie!!!!!!!!11111

Okay so when times are dark and grey,
together we'll stand and light the way,
but in peace time if there's desert on the table,
sorry but it's "Out the way, Mable"

Friendship is more than a six letter word,
actually it's got loads more letters, and sounds nicer too,
but let me tell you it's not as easy as swatting a bird,
and it's also a lot nicer not to do that too.

At the core of our army you'll find that's the key,
it doesn't hurt any though that Ron's a cute monkey,
Harry's a brave, and brilliant leader as well,
Hermione knows her way around more than just spells.

There is Luna as well, who's a good shot,
and Neville who's cute and can dance a lot,
Ernie's speeches could put an elephant to sleep,
but Dean's hexes will make the villains all screech.

From different houses they all come to join in an army,
and they're going to kick

you can bet on a charm-e.
Friends all of them, they'd stand true to each other,
hold their backs, even join Spew, to help out their brother.

Sisters if they're girls, cuz Dumbledore's Army isn't just for boys,
which of course means they all have to learn to share their toys.

Perhaps you are a fool,

Hermione has my heart always held true,
something obviously you clearly knew,
for when you did see us down the stairs come down,
you did meet us with an angry frown.
Nor chance to answer you did leave,
but you did explode without reprieve.
Farewell I say to your false heart,
for mine, as you well know, fell to cupid's dart
and now all of my heart,
is all Hermione's part.

Truth be told,
you make too bold,
with your broken wronged heart,
I think you'd be better playing another part."
Lavender never did truly love Ron,
and if you think that is true, well you're wrong.
I think girls just stick together,
like birds of a feather,
but when it comes to molting,
they are quite revolting.

I haven't written a poem since 6th grade (which was longer ago than some might think), but here goes!

So You Want to Be a DA Member?

So you wanna be a member,
but you don't know if you can,
just saunter on on over,
we'll give you a scan.

You wanna fight the bad guys,
and defeat old Riddle,
help with his demise,
and not just twiddle.

Well you found the right group,
we're planning right now,
you could be in the loop,
if you say the vow.

So go ahead and join,
if you've got what it takes,
not one gold coin,
but knowing the stakes.

Short, but sweet (like me!). Tell me if it's good or not!

It's been a long time or leaves in the fall ...

"It's been a long time since I've come to see you old friend,
I haven't had time, you know how things turned out in the end.

Hermione is fine, as are the kids as well,
you know little Harry, he's quite good with spells.

Mum she still misses you, I think she always will,
Luna and Neville are doing fine, you know she's handy with a quill.

She at the paper, and he at Hogwarts,
a newspaper writer and a teacher who plays with noarts.

Voldemort is dead and gone, a long time since now,
I know you never liked to hear it but you saved us all somehow.

Ginny she always misses you, waits and hopes that you'll come back,
love's a funny thing like that, she's never left that place, your heart she says she lacks."

The red haired man knelt down by the grassy spot,
he sat beneath the tree in that sacred lot,
a wind carried a cold caress that wiped away the lonely tear
and he lay roses on the gravestone of his friend most dear.

"We miss you Harry," Ron said, touching the headstone,
Not all the quidditch world cups could nor all the gold could take the hurt tone.
He sighed, and wiped another tear, felt a leaf fall brown and dry,
startled by a curly haired girl who sat by his side, she lay her head on his shoulder and they started to cry.

DA Randomness ...

Neville likes to play with plants,
Dean he's apt to go fix a tank,
no not the plumbing you silly dork,
I'm talking about the ones with a turret *gives you a spork*

Seamus he's Irish and he's cute and he loves green,
And truthfully any of the boys in Gryffindor loyal & true would give you their spleen.
Then there's Harry the hero who's not going to die,
And Ron his best mate, I mean this kid really can fly.

Then there's Colin as well, he loves to play with a camera,
and Hermione, who's not a boy, but she's really bad

with a tamera.

*Author's note for the nitpicky* Oh shut it you trying rhyming with camera.

Ginny's brilliant at quidditch she's swell,
she'd even kick Harry's

given half a spell.

Luna would be watching from the stands,
yelling for Ginny to watch out for Harry's hands

Boys you see are really trouble,
like that one Draco who's sharp as an arrow.
He's in Slytherin house and of that you can be glad,
otherwise he and Harry would end up all mad ...
constantly fighting and yelling and spelling,
and I don't mean the kind with bees, but the kind with crucio Eeeeeeeeeeeng.

So I guess in the end it'll all turn out all right,
those cute Gryffindor boys all tucked in for the night,
Draco plotting his evil schemes in his dungeon home,
or with Myrtle and crying and feeling all kinds of alone.
Someone please don't forget to give the dog (Fluffy) a bone.
And Luna and Neville can watch the stars from under the Astronomy tower dome.
